41 suddenly experience the entire realm being flipped as if an hourglass has been turned upside down. if your party survives the violent upheaval, encounter new areas of the ultra desert.

42 encounter a large clan of PHEROMOSA or BUZZWOLE that have temporarily seized control over the realm. this prompt may be dependent on the result you have chosen during the SPECIAL HUNT in ROUND THREE. assist their efforts by helping command a troop of ultra beasts to defeat threats in the realm (e.g. therian forme landorus, regirock, the opposite ultra beast), or join a troop before attempting escape.

43 encounter a THERIAN FORME LANDORUS that seems to have been planeshifted here by accident or intentionally. the pokemon seems to have been abandoned here and is clearly aggressive. with no soil, the pokemon can not create fertile lands— and it will take its frustration out on you before fleeing.

44 a REGIROCK may have been unearthed by the realm's flipping or by your exploration. battle and/or defend against it. study of the debris left by the fleeing titan will reveal that it contains mineral material of all kinds and from all kinds of worlds, though the exact locations can not be pinpointed.

🗺️ SPECIAL HUNT: in the process of your adventure, CIAN MAHER may encounter clans of PHEROMOSA and BUZZWOLE clashing with each other in an attempt to determine which species will rule over this domain. during these battles for dominion, the ultra beasts may be weakened, defect or betray, or switch the targets of their aggression to your party.

however, your party must determine which species (pheromosa or buzzwole) will "win" or have "gained the upperhand" and note it during archival.

by the end, everyone may capture one PHEROMOSA or BUZZWOLE (one or the other, not both).

Or you may encounter and catch a KARTANA that has managed to displace itself here. Whether it is here from Hoenn or another location in ULTRA SPACE is unknown.

despite being loyal to Eva Morales and Hideo Kino, cian realizes his interests in returning to ultra desert differ from theirs. his are more selfish reasons even if he may disguise it as for the betterment of the league, so he doesn't want to burden them more than he already has.[break][break]

[break][break]she puts her hands on her hips, equally puzzled by a second regirock sighting. from her rudimentary knowledge of horrible happenings in hoenn, this is likely the product of their wounded multiverse. she turns toward CIAN MAHER as he suggests they keep moving, but then her face pinches in shock as the world spins and they're suddenly weightless. [break][break] she falls toward the sky, scrabbling for the pokeballs at her belt to exchange her meowstic for her altaria. her keystone flashes, then she's on the mega-evolved dragon's back. [break][break]"catch him, please!"[break][break]they chase his fading screams. talons hook into the back of cian's shirt, slowing his descent. with a flutter of wings, cotton candy hovers over the sand, carefully depositing hoenn's handsome hotshot onto the sand. [break][break]"we just fell up ... is that normal here?"[break][break]cian had made it sound like he was familiar with this place, so it's only right to squeeze him for knowledge.

it's all too disorienting for him to find the right pokeball on his belt. when his hand brushes over what he thinks is the right one, he taps it, but instead of something cool and flight-capable, it's his oranguru who is immediately as dumbfounded as cian.[break][break]

he glances around in search for the familiar tome, the one he'd visited twice before to summon the spirit of LANDORUS, but oddly enough, he doesn't find it. he thought fade would have brought him back to it by now.[break][break]

it doesn't take them long to climb up the small dune to see opposing clans of BUZZWOLE and PHEROMOSA fighting one another. it does, however, surprise him to see something else they're fighting.[break][break]

he squints, unfamiliar with the THERIAN FORME LANDORUS as he's never seen it like that, but the colors are similar enough for him to make the connection.[break][break]

[break][break]she joins him in squinting at the smaller figure darting between ultra beast attacks. it doesn't look as alien as the warring clans do. she wonders if it's like regirock, a being of their world trapped in another. [break][break]"i'm not su—"[break][break]before she can finish the statement, hoenn's hotshot is already gone, running down the dune and calling out to some lando boy. she exchanges a look with her partner pokemon, then says: [break][break]"let's go help him!"[break][break]cotton candy flies ahead of them as they awkwardly run down the shifting slope, peppering the crowd with dragon pulses.

as triple h bounds down sandy dunes with trained ease looking like a natural surfer, his two pokemon soon join him, cementoss and oranguru tucking themselves into balls before rolling down as well.[break][break]

it's a short-lived battle, nothing to write home about, but the importance of it still matters as this is the first interaction cian has had with LANDORUS and not its spirit.[break][break]

with annalise henderson's help, they ward off the two ultra beast clans. neither side come out victorious; a deviation from history; and it is because of their intervention that ensures LANDORUS walks away in one piece.[break][break]

"nice work everyone."[break][break]

but before he has a chance to properly interact with the legendary, it strides away, running into the far, far distance.[break][break]

"so ungrateful."[break][break]

on their way out, cian manages to snag a PHEROMOSA, possibly a stray from the clan earlier.

the war resolves without much difficulty. being third partied by her and CIAN MAHER is enough to ward off the ultra beasts. the unfamiliar beast lingers as the clans flee, just long enough to regard its saviors. [break][break]annalise thinks she likes this world a lot better than the only other one she's been to. it seems like a bright (yet detractingly hot) and less unforgiving world. even conflicts seem to resolve smoothly, but perhaps that's because she's with hoenn's hotshot and not a delivery woman. [break][break]"oh — !"[break][break]she frowns, watching landorus race away before he can approach it. her eyes follow its retreating form, then she blinks sympathetically at cian. [break][break]"you'll prob run into it again. they always show back up eventually."[break][break]she thinks of the few times she and june sleigh have been faced down by regieleki through no intervention of their own.
