Luminous eyes watch from the dark.[break][break]

It is a malevolent presence, but not a hostile one. It keeps to the caress of shadow, but follows him home.[break][break]

Cillian pauses on the porch. He can see those red eyes staring from an alley. Judging. Tilting his head, Cillian extends an arm. The shadows have stretched past clawed fingers, wreathing his arm like a spectral gauntlet. There is no sign of flesh beneath, yet he can still feel the physicality of fingers as they curl and uncurl. He admires the way they shift with his movements, then turns his attention back to the interloper.[break][break]

Claws grow long as they beckon.[break][break]

"Come."[break][break]

His voice still rumbles with corruption. Like the shadows that change him, he has not yet figured out how to control this newfound shift.[break][break]

He doesn't hate it.[break][break]

From the alley, the slender figure of a fox slips free.[break][break]

He has never seen it before, this creature. Yet Cillian knows it to be a SHADOW POKEMON just as it knew him to be one of its own. More SHADOW than human. It pads on silent paws to stand before him.[break][break]

Zev Harcourt's words, Necrozma's words, come back to him in that moment.[break][break]

"The quality of the body and the spirit."[break][break]

His quality is shadow, his spirit corrupt.[break][break]

He turns from the Ninetales to open the door. It lets itself in as if it had always lived there, sending many of their dogs scurrying in fright. Even Faolan looks wary, as uncertain of his master's umbral aura as he was of the nine-tailed fox.[break][break]

"Temp," Cillian calls, his voice echoing in whispers. "Come look at this."

Folk music plays low on the radio in the kitchen, hooked up to Temp's phone. He hums to the tune, hands working and kneading dough. Clover helps, small hand spreading fresh flour where the dough is most sticky after it's pulled and turned. Usually he wasn't much of a baker but the idea of a warm loaf for dinner was too appealing. It was a while yet before he would start the rest of the cooking.[break][break]

He was just putting a damp hand-towel over the dough, in a pan now, when Cillian Quinn called out.[break][break]

The rough in his voice gave Tempest pause. And shame. Cillian had been cleared by the Rocket doctors and Scientists already, but the damage and corruption was more than visible. What Tempest should have been feeling was intense worry about his husband. And it was there! Don't get him wrong! Cillian stayed knotted in his thoughts constantly. It was just, you see, the man as now more Shadow than person and something about that was really getting him going.[break][break]

Tempest had never considered himself a monsterfucker... but was he? A real conundrum he could worry about later.[break][break]

"Coming!" He called out, wiping the last of the flour from his fingers. When he steps from the room, Tempest pauses and takes in the new interloper in their living room. Most of the pokemon have shied away, tails between legs. Hati on all fours from the couch, tail lashing, eyes locked onto the ghostly fox. She licks her lips and tense, about to jump-[break][break]

Temp clicks his tongue, the Eevee's ears flicking and body jolting. She doesn't attack, not now, but he eyes do not leave the Ninetails.[break][break]

"What's with this one?" While not a connoisseur of Shadows quite like Cillian was, Tempest had been around them enough to recognize after a few moments. The fox was regal and deadly, sharp in eyes and fang and claw. He glanced away, not bothered by the new, dangerous thing in his home. Brow raised at Cillian. "You make that one?"

Cillian's gaze shifts to his husband when he steps from the kitchen. The Harbinger's eyes have lost their dark violet hue but for a now-permanent ring around the pupil, barely detectable but at close range. Honeyed gold settles on Temp, instead.[break][break]

The Ninetales, too, turns to study this new figure. It seems impressed by his composure in the absence of the corruption that surges through Cillian.[break][break]

"No." Cillian frowns. "I can't. Not anymore."[break][break]

He'd tried, while testing the limits of these newfound strengths, wondering if his dark blessing was equally empowered. Instead, he'd found its absence. As though the knowledge has been absorbed into his very being, a part of him from which he could no longer separate.[break][break]

He doesn't seem upset. The frown is contemplative, if anything. Their foray into the Deep Sea had impressed upon Cillian how vulnerable they were. How delicately human his husband was, for all of his Beastial terror.

"You will protect him."[break][break]

It's not a question, but Cillian's gaze lingers on the fox in want of answer. Its tails swish silently as it measures the unseen depths of Tempest Quinn's soul, red eyes stripping him bare.[break][break]

Temp cocks his head to the side as per usual, curious, when Cillian Quinn addresses the fox. He glances back down at it, amused, before humming to himself.[break][break]

"Aw, you worried about me, Cillie?" Is teased, easy, before Temp kneels down.[break][break]

He focuses full attention on the fox. It eyes him with some curiosity in return, cunning. Tempest reaches out and grasps it just under the muzzle; firm, but not to hurt. A few of the foxes tails lash, ears pulling back while it snarled teeth. Tempest only responds by tightening his grip before it tries to bite. After a few moments of this silent war, Temp not breaking eye contact as he does so, the fox huffs and averts her eyes.[break][break]

Temp rubs her on the ears before standing back up. The Shadow Pokemon slinks to his side, still agitated, but does not move to otherwise attack or menace.[break][break]

"You sure you don't want her? You're the only person who can bring out her full potential."

"Of course I worry," the living shadow rumbles, grave in the face of his husband's humour. The change has stolen more of his light. He is slower to smile, and laughs only in haunting echoes.[break][break]

But he has not forgotten how to love.[break][break]

His love has always been a void, dark and all-consuming. It should destroy everything it touches, yet it had taken Temp and twisted him into its image and Tempest was his.[break][break]

He would protect him. At all costs.[break][break]

Cillian watches the interaction unfold between man and shadow. He does not blink. Another thing he has forgotten. His heart beats, his lungs draw air, but his eyes only stare, and stare.[break][break]

"I'll teach you."[break][break]

He blinks, then, as if remembering he should. Only once.[break][break]

"You're my husband." Claws caress beneath the chin, gentle but sharp enough to sting. "What's mine is yours. Before her blessing, I was no different than you. Assert control, and they will yield." He nods to the Ninetales in silent explanation; it had been Temp to truly seal that deal.

It's cold and vacant in a new way but still fills Tempest's chest with warmth. That even now, even changed, he still held Cillian Quinn's heart in his hands. The Hoyeon man was lucky.[break][break]

Sharp claws caress under Temp's chin, drawing his eyes to Cillian's instantly. From so close, he could see the little ring of shadow that burned around the iris. It bled into the gold, making it more striking. Molten. Staring too long made him feel dizzy and flustered and and weak in the knees.[break][break]

"I-I, uh...."[break][break]

Tempest averts his gaze, as he had been doing frequently when Cillian was around. He had worried that Cillian might think he was scared. Yet his cheeks heat up, the apples dark red; he hadn't blushed this much since before he and the blond were engaged.[break][break]

Every time Cillian came home Tempest felt like a teenager. Fumbling and needy and clinging to his side like a persistent tick. After the worry was mostly abated it was like he couldn't help himself! And could anyone blame him? Cillian was so beautiful. He had been before, of course! Tempest thought that Cillian was the most handsome man in the world. But after this sudden change? The raw power he oozed, even more-so than before, shook him to his very core.

Temp looks away, cheeks flushed.[break][break]

Cillian laughs, the sound echoing in discordant melody. A few of the dogs growl at the sound, and Faolan flicks his ears. But Cillian only has eyes for Temp.[break][break]

"So shy, you are."[break][break]

Claws grip tighter, piercing skin.[break][break]

"Look at me, love."[break][break]

The shadow smiles, exposing sharp teeth. It is no thing of beauty, yet Temp admires him like a work of art.

He dips his head to lave his tongue along the pinprick wounds, his clawed hand sliding down to tear at the collar of Temp's shirt. He tastes the tang of salt and sweat and iron on skin flush with heat. Breath soft beneath Temp's ear, his voice rumbles.[break][break]

"You know you need only ask."

That laugh makes a shiver run down Temp's spine. Unlike the canines in the house, it was for a much different reason. Languid heat starts to fill his veins. It's would almost be embarrassing if Tempest had any shame left at this point.[break][break]

Something like a squeak leaves him when those claws pierce skin. Red blood wells up in delicate beads. Tempest shyly lifts his eyes to keep Cillian Quinn's. They're dark and hungry. Pinprick teeth gleam in the light, seeking to devour.[break][break]

His mouth is very dry.[break][break]

Cillian had only left the house for a few hours. Something needed done at the sub, some papers to be signed or Grunt reprimanded... But before that? Temp's hair was still kind of damp from showering it off. His hips and back were still a raw mess from it. But it had been so good.[break][break]

The truth was that Tempest had been a dog with a bone ever since they got home. When Cillian had almost ripped howard slayte in two, the sight had unlocked something. There had been the temptation to allow Cillian to do it, to leave the one-eyed man as little more than a smudge to be digested by the Nihilego. He wanted to know what his husband looked like smeared with someone's insides. Wanted to see those claws tear flesh from bone. Then, when he was still wet with blood, he could grip onto-[break][break]

God, he was fucked up.[break][break]

Breathing heavy, Tempest scrunched his eyes shut and couldn't hold in the high, begging moan from the licking. It made him feel dizzy with want.[break][break]

Tempest pants for a moment between them, the room suddenly boiling around him.[break][break]

"Cil, please."[break][break]

Tempest grasps for Cillian's shirt, to try and pull him in for a sloppy kiss.

Temp still bears the marks from Cillian's claws, the imprints of shadow-sharpened teeth. But any sane man would've run away from Cillian Quinn a long time ago. This one only draws closer.[break][break]

Another unsettling laugh ghosts against hot skin.[break][break]

"You beg so pretty." A kiss is his reward, Cillian sucking at the wounds on Temp's neck. "But I think you've done enough begging."[break][break]

It might seem like a denial, at first. There have been times where Cillian has been unable to indulge his husband's increasingly voracious appetite. Not this time. Cillian's claws take Tempest's hand carefully, conscious of sharp edges, and he presses a soft kiss against the palm. Then he guides that hand to his throat, to the racing pulse that spreads corruption through his veins.[break][break]

"I am yours. Take whatever you need."

Tempest whimpers.[break][break]

And takes.[break][break]

When it is over, he hums and pulls Cillian Quinn's face firm against his chest. Holding the other close was his favorite part. His skin is chilled from cooling sweat, back and shoulders hot from fresh claw marks. There is a particularly deep ache where shoulder meets neck, deep teeth marks still sticky with drying blood.[break][break]

A soft kiss is pressed to the crown of Cillian's head. He noses against his husband's sweaty hair.[break][break]

It's not quite time for bed yet, though, and they still need dinner. For now they just rest and Tempest tries to collect his scattered thoughts. He wonders if his bread has finished rising.[break][break]

"So," His voice is a rough rumble. Tempest pauses and tries to clear his throat, finds it does little. "where did that fox come from?"[break][break]

If Cillian didn't make it, then it had to have come from somewhere.

Where Tempest is covered in the marks left by claws and teeth, Cillian aches in a different way. He doesn't resist the firm embrace, taking comfort in the closeness as his heart rate slows.[break][break]

He shifts to rest his chin against his husband's collarbone, smirking at the blooming bite mark and laying an apologetic kiss against the oozing wound. In a minute, when he felt stable enough to walk without his knees giving out, he'd fetch the first aid kit.[break][break]

For now, he basks in their afterglow.[break][break]

"Mm. Don't know."[break][break]

The eldritch quality of his voice makes the simple statement sound almost threatening.[break][break]

"She followed me home. I think they're drawn to me."[break][break]

It wouldn't be the first time a SHADOW POKEMON took interest in him, but it was certainly the first that had gone out of its way to find him.

It slips out quick, Tempest unable to keep from flirting with the other. It's second nature by this point.[break][break]

The bite mark aches under his husband's affection. The draw of pain only makes Tempest shiver. But, he has things to do and he's already pretty chewed up and tired. A shame they couldn't just live in the bed and let the world turn around them.[break][break]

"She seemed kind of weird for a Ninetails." That was probably all to do with the Shadowfication. However, Tempest's own Shadows were not quite on the same caliber as some of Cillian Quinn's. Durandal, Icecube, Angi... all of them were very powerful for their respective species. Yet, they did not have the certain abilities that a pokemon like Cillian's Sandslash did. It was almost like the ice type's genetics were changed on some fundamentally deeper level.[break][break]

That Ninetails seemed similar in the way it held itself. In the sheer Shadow aura that it seemed to have wrapped around it. The malicious intent was palpable.[break][break]

"Think they'll be more?"

The sharpness of shadow is softened by Temp's words, and Cillian flushes under the praise. He lifts his head from where he'd been attending to the bite marks with his tongue, opting instead for a kiss that tastes like the iron of blood.[break][break]

He is not so good with sweet words, with pleases and thank yous. But he communicates his warmth through his touch, leaning against his husband's chest and lazily tracing the outline of muscles and scars.[break][break]

A quiet laugh rumbles in Cillian's throat.[break][break]

"All shadows are kind of weird, love."[break][break]

Though some more so than others, and Cillian thinks he understands.[break][break]

"Maybe," he says, the weight of his shrug dampened against Temp's shoulders. "Guess we'll have to wait and see."

The kiss is sweet, regardless of other tastes.[break][break]

Tempest noses against Cillian's hair, not minding the dampness of sweat that clings to the roots. He hums in his chest, giving the other a soft squeeze before relaxing his grip.[break][break]

"You're kind of weird." Is shot back, but it holds no heat. Only a tease, and somehow the way the words wrap around his tongue feels like a compliment rather than an insult. A kiss is pressed against Cillian Quinn's temple.[break][break]

"I'll do a field test with her tomorrow. May as well see if she has any unique abilities."
