After the missing people had reappeared, Thomas had become a busy man. Making sure was recovering from her ordeal. Overseeing the physical therapy that several people, including , had to undergo after coming home.

But most pressing of all, training with Tapu Koko, in order to prepare for the coming war with Rocket.

After concluding a sparring session between his Ceruledge, and Tapu Koko, Melody entered the training room. "Champion Miro, good to see you.", Thomas greeted the idol, giving her a respectful bow. "How have you been holding up?", he inquired.

The people of Hoenn, the world, need you, more than ever. To prevent Rocket from deceiving them into handing them the keys."

As the Meloetta floated around him, the Tapu Koko studied the songstress.

"Been busy, between preparing for the coming war, and overseeing treatment of the abducted people.", Thomas told her.

Thomas looked to Tapu Koko and Meloetta. He then grinned. "What kind of trainer would I be to turn down a spar with you? Don't think Tapu Koko would let me hear the end of it.", Thomas remarked.

As Thomas got to his side of the field, he looked back to the Acting Champion. "How's Navy been, by the way? Been meaning to visit him, but I've just been swamped.", Thomas asked her, lamenting the fact that he couldn't visit the man himself.

Though he had his reasons, what kind of friend was he to ?

Thomas was all too familiar with the death of .

During his search for answers, he and went to the Border, where they encountered the spirit of . To say it was a dark experience was an understatement. Seemingly confirming that the Champion indeed died, on top of many of his friends vanishing, disheartened Thomas at the time. The only silver lining was that they didn't find their spirits at The Border.

"I think we've all had a rough time of what happened. He was a good and dear friend to all of us.", Thomas told her. "But I'll do my best for him. It's the least I can do for him, and for all of you."

"Go ahead.", Thomas confirmed with her. "Charge!", Thomas called out.

The Tapu Koko remained in place, momentarily. As the Psychic orbs closed in on them, the Guardian Deity retracted into their shell. As they Charged up their energy, and fortified their defenses in the process, the Psychic orbs pelted his shell.

"Mind if I ask what exactly came up?", he inquired.

"Kyle had sent me plans to go and host an event before he died and collaborate with him. Drew up all the plans to the last detail but he isn't really here to do it anymore so I wanna make sure it happens how he wanted it to." [break][break]

The guardian deity retreats into it's shell and Meloetta is surprised by this tactics, those pauldron like appendages. Meloetta decides to pivot, using ALLURING VOICE to try and confuse the Pokémon if it tried to boost it's stats somehow.

The Tapu Koko continued to hunker down in their shell, allowing the Alluring Voice to hit them. Thanks to the prior use of Charge, they found themselves better able to take the attack.

In retaliation, the Tapu Koko rushed down the Meloetta with a Quick Attack, attempting to close the distance between them, and to get some retaliation.

Melody pulls out a tera ball and changes Meloetta's typing to steel to become more defensive. [break][break]

Thomas watched as the Meloetta shifted its form, with the use of their Relic Song. To watch the transformation happen before his very eyes was fascinating. Even more fascinating was the use of the Tera Orb. Thomas owned one himself, but only his Zoroark benefitted from it.

Something he'd have to change, down the line.

Tapu Koko responded by tucking into their shell, and unleashing its previous Charge, attempted to nail the Meloetta with a Wild Charge.

"Yes.", Thomas answers her honestly. "I know what you're thinking: why would a company that deals in weapons sponsor a peaceful gathering? Even if the intention is peace and fun, the presence of a hostile force in the Region puts a damper on it. And who better to make sure this event stays peaceful, than a highly trained, and well-equipped security force?", Thomas asked her.

"But if you're still uncomfortable with the prospect of a weapons company providing funding and security, I'd be happy to do so through Duvet Ranch instead.", he offered.

Meloetta tries to put her arms together to defend against the attack but it was a moot effort. It was a strong pokemon, skilled in close combat. Would her changing forms allow her to keep up with it's blinding speed? Melody starts to spin around, encasing her feet in ice crystal shoes as she uses TRIPLE AXEL to try and strike at the pokemon with three consecutive blows. [break][break]

"Duvet ranch? I haven't heard of it, what's this ranch business about? raising farm pokemon?!" she says a bit more excited as Thomas could actually be a good resource for helping her with not only this project but also with pokemon H.O.M.E "Oh! You have to let me visit the ranch!" she says immediately as her love for pokemon was pure.

Tapu Koko watched as the Meloetta encased her feet in a pair of ice shoes, going in for a triple axel. The Tapu Koko did his best to turtle the blows with his shell. Despite this, the Triple Axel, as it gained momentum, hit him rather hard.

In retaliation, the Tapu Koko unleashed a bolt of Nature's Madness towards the Terastal Shard.

"And a lot more than that. Ever since starting it, I've been developing underground biomes for Pokemon that require special conditions to survive. So one that imitates the hotter caves, like the Fiery Path. A colder cave that emulates places like Johto's Ice Path. And plenty more.", Thomas explained to her.

Thomas grinned as the Champion asked if she could visit his Ranch. "I'd be honored to have you as a guest.", Thomas answered her. "And I know the Audinos will adore you.", he added.

Maybe she had misjudged him, she hadn't really spoken to him before but only heard what others said about him. But honestly, she was familiar with how rumor's can spiral out of control. [break][break]

Waves of nature's madness washed over the arena cutting Meloetta's stamina in half, she's pushed backwards as the shard tries to recuperate. "Drain punch!" she knew it wouldn't be super effective but she had to do something to ensure meloetta at least stayed in the fight. [break][break]

Tapu Koko took the Drain Punch. Thanks to their Fairy-typing, they were able to resist the attack. Despite this, they felt their vitality draining away. The previous attacks managed to whittle them down. Despite this, the Island Deity refused to give up. Tucking into their shell, the Tapu Koko Charged themselves again.

"A little over five years now. After I had to resign from Interpol, I managed to scoop up some land from someone who was looking to sell. It was a bit of a fixer upper, but I managed to get it in shape.", Thomas began. "As for the Audinos, I've always loved them. Managed to befriend several over the years, and the Ranch allows them, and others, to live peaceful lives. In times of crisis, they lend their aid to the injured, but that's more of a fortunate byproduct than anything.", Thomas revealed to her.

This war in particular gave the Audino no shortage in work. No shortage in people to help.

As melody continues to talk and battle with thomas, she starts to feel bad. She had misjudged him, she had always thought of him as a wild card. [break][break]

"I owe you an apology, I misjudged you thomas. I used to think you were a wildcard" she says as she crosses her arms and leans back a bit, loosening up a bit more. [break][break]

"From what you told me, you really care for pokemon deeply and every time I've noticed that about someone. They tend to be a good person at heart. It's why I opened up pokemon home." she says as she nods herself confirming her own logic. If he was also going to help her stick it to then all the better.
