"RUN!" she screams as Melody runs after a toxic chained VOLTORB that was running towards an area where it can cause more danger. [break][break]

An explosion erupts from the forest and the pokemon manages to revive itself via it's toxic chain ability. [break][break]

She throws her Lapras's pokeball towards the city and it erects a PROTECT that manages to defend some nearby civillians. The others who were a safe distance from the voltorb scrambled from their feet and ran away avoiding potential rubble that would fall. She was stuck on the defensive side of things with all of these citizens around and this voltorb constantly being able to explode back to back thanks to that stupid fucking chain "GET AWAY! RUN!"

It wasn't hard to find chaos as a seasoned Ranger. Robin found herself moving in the opposite direction as a fleeing couple. It was clear as she approached that the issue was a toxic-chained pokemon. Voltorbs were vicious and precarious enough because of their potential for quick and massive damage, but the toxic chain around it only added to the potential fallout.

Quick and severe action was necessary. Robin paid little attention to the strangely familiar woman and her Lapras throwing up protective screens, launching Snorlax into the field with an instant cry of "Blizzard!" The insatiable pokemon reacted without hesitation, generating a striking chill over the environment with high winds to boot. The freezing temperature left visible frost on the environment and the voltorb alike, but it was barely slowly down in its erratic, electrically-charged movements.

Another explosion was about to erupt and cause even more chaos, Melody was so focused on defending the civilians that she couldn't really go on the offensive. However as the heat that voltorb generated around them began to spread, a freezing chill rushed from behind he and quickly lowered the temperature. [break][break]

The voltorb was suddenly swamped by the frigid winds and Melody saw an opening, she had to take this opportunity quickly. An Alolan marowak emerges from his pokeball and flings it's weapon towards the pokeball, trying to push it back into the forest and away from the city. "Thank you! Wanna keep helping?!" she asks the woman

The Marowak thunks the voltorb with its bone, making it even more sluggish. However, it seems determined not to run away from the fight. Robin's out for blood now that the voltorb's decided to hang on by a thread, so she doesn't mind one bit. "Yeah, I'll finish it, don't worry!" She makes an odd gesture, but Snorlax picks it up all the same. He roars ferociously as he summons his strength to stomp, generating an earthquake that tears the environment in two.

The city grounds split under the pressure on the tectonic plates. The structural damage is the last thing on Robin's mind, however, and she doesn't even consider how a heavy environmental impact can disrupt civilians despite the shielding -- indeed, she's got tunnel vision on the voltorb, but even as it sits trapped in the earth, thunked and slightly frozen, it isn't ready to throw in the towel.

Or, in a manner of speaking, it is. She watches open-mouthed as it begins to flicker with the tell-tale flickers of energy that precede a self-destruct. "Oh, we're in it now," she can't help but utter, unsure how best to minimize the impact of such a technique.

Woah, this girl had talent. She was a bit chaotic and rough around the edges, sure, but she knew what would cause the voltorb to stagger enough for Melody to intervene. [break][break]

The signs of the self-destruct are clear, Melody knew she had to do something or else he'd explode again and probably end up killing some people. Lapras couldn't apply a protect wide enough to stop the self destruct from hurting nearby people. [break][break]

A child cries nearby and Melody looks in shock. There was a child who was just on the outskirts of the earthquake's range who was terrified of the nearby fighting and was paralyzed from fear. The voltorb see's melody's gaze and giggles maliciously as he rolls towards the child and Melody. "I can't shield everyone. Maybe I don't have to! PROTECT THE VOLTORB" she orders as Lapras immediately understands. [break][break]

A shining barrier is erected not over Melody and her pokemon, but a condensed protect is formed over the voltorb instead acting like a cage as the pokemon panics and SELF-DESTRUCTS again. The explosion is contained, the energy and light contained inside intensified the attack creating so much pressure that the voltorb is crushed by it's own attack. [break][break]

As the dust and scene clears, there is only dust that remains and a squelchy plop onto the floor as the toxic chain wriggles and turns to dust as it dries. Melody rushes over to the child, ensuring she's ok before she turns her gaze over to the young girl "Who are you? Thanks for the assist, your attacks were amazing! They were so chaotic the voltorb couldn't keep up!!"

Professionalism wasn't a strong suit of Robin's, which was confidently on display as she cheered and whooped at the self-destructing voltorb. Imprisoning the pokemon itself rather than trying to protect such a large area was brilliant, but she was more hype at the explosion. Voltorbs didn't explode as prettily as Blacephalons, but it was still a burst of excitement in an otherwise tame day.

"You were awesome! That was super fast thinking." She turned to the woman to offer a high-five, only for her face to fall in recognition. "Holyshityou'reliterallyTHEmelodymiro."

This was someone who certifiably could kick Greyson's ass. More importantly, this made her an immediate ally of Robin's. But before she could demand super secret special lessons, a different question tumbled out unbidden. "What brings you out here? It's pretty lowkey in these parts. I figured you champs were all like, stuck in meetings about challenging a new generation of trainers or whatever." She had no idea what they did. Greyson hadn't done a lot of luxury-celebrity nonsense, so she figured they all just worked a lot like Greyson did.

Despite Robin being star struck, Melody doesn't really responds to it and instead continues the high five cheerily "Hya!" she says as a big clap was provided to fan.[break][break]

However as Robin asks her why she was here, Melody freezes for a moment. She WAS supposed to go to a meeting but Melody had been burning out on doing paper work, meetings, and political duties. So the moment she saw a voltorb and it's dangerous potential she decided to handle it herself instead of calling for the rangers. "Uhhhhh! Well I help where I can! I can't just ignore a dangerous pokemon like that right? I appreciate you jumping in to give me some breathing room against that thing." [break][break]

"What's your name?"

"Robin Coello, at your service," she said with a very exaggerated one-arm-tucked-in Ringmaster bow. "Soooooo, how many can I pay you for very special lessons in asskickery? I'm trying to wipe the floor with Greyson Connors , y'know, as one does." She leaned in conspiratorially, whispering: "I'm gonna use a Comfey against him."

She hoped it would add insult to injury. He had doubted her every time she referenced defeating him, ever since they met. The rivalry had built to a level she couldn't back down from. Success was her only option. "But it's super cool to see you out here. I hope I can see you around again, but I bet you're busy. You do all that pokemon health stuff, yeah? If you need a break from that stuff and want some real fun, I know some haunted houses we can check out." It's not trespassing if the local authorities never visit the spooky estates, anyways.

"Home!" she swiftly corrects. [break][break]

"And facing Greyson Connors with a comfey? That's ballsy." she says with a small smirk and a laugh. "Butttttt, if you could act in a way that he can't predict. You might have a shot!" [break][break]

She looks over at the remains of the pokemon with the toxic chain, just an ash mark on the floor. She lingers on it momentarily before looking back at robin "Haunted houses huh? As champion I can't really afford to do stuff that seems like fun right now." she says before turning around and placing her hands behind her back. [break][break]

However they did seem like fun! "If there's any trouble there I as the champion would HAVE to show up while on duty." she says trying to push to robin coello how to get her to show up.

It took Robin a moment to pick up what Melody was putting down, but eventually the subtlety made its way past her skull. "Ah," she said with a sagely nod, "I see. Well, considering Trouble is never too far behind when I'm around..." She grinned. "I'll be sure to call you up if anything occurs at Joy Land or a haunted house or, like, when I wipe the floor with Greyson Connors ." She didn't like the idea that being such an accomplished battler took away so much of your freedom. It sounded like Melody was really, really busy.

Robin didn't envy her. The reputation was cool, but Robin had too many ghosts to help to have to put the entire region on her shoulders. "I'll check out that Home stuff. My best friend Gwendolyn Conway does some rehab stuff at that Dragon...ary. Dragon-iary?" What was it called? "Whatever. Dragon place. She basically lives there."

She nods as it seems that robin and her reached a mutual understanding. "Really?! We could always use more hands on deck if you both want to come and take a tour." she says [break][break]

"A lot of people have been applying but I wanna make sure each and every volunteer gets screened by me as they're working with a delicate population. So given your battle talent, and if your friend Gwendolyn Conway has potential too why don't you come and take a tour of the island?" she asks wondering if the girl would take her up on the offer.

Robin wasn't expecting an invitation.

"Oh, me?" She was going to look into the program, but she knew her tendencies read as childish. She didn't have a lot of high-end responsibility among the Rangers despite her long track record of successful missions. She kept to herself and did her best to instill confidence in Rangers newer than herself. The responsibility of a rehab program run by the Melody Miro was a huge step up.

She played with the end of a strand of hair as she thought. "Well, I suppose if it doesn't put you out or anything..." And if Gwendolyn Conway was interested, the two of them could go together. The thought made Robin's cheeks warm, so she turned away from Melody suddenly. "OK, I will see you later then!" She hurried off before the champion could get a better look at her reddening face.
