he's excited! and that makes her happy. she grabs the delphox by the arm and hauls him up, hugs his floofy waist, and says brightly, "well, he needed a bombass name, right?"

greyson nods enthusiastically.

"so i named him after my second, er, third favorite person in the world!" unfortunately, that list goes papa -> sven -> gr - wait, what about her grandpa? he's pretty important. oh, this is stressful. maybe you shouldn't have 'favorite' people.

"okay, actually just one of the coolest people ever," she amends, as though he had any inclination to the dog chasing its tail in her head.

"and he wubs his name, don't you, greyson?"

"greyson, meet greyson!" she says enthusiastically, completely missing his shock, horror, and disappointment. delphox!greyson does a little yip and turns his head to human!greyson, tongue poking out of his mouth. 

"awww, look, he's blepping. isn't he just perfect? but anyway, you said you would help me with maugrim today!"

she cowers - actually cowers, smile falling from her face. greyson also looks dejected, ear floof drooping, realizing his identity is about to be stolen from him. saskia pats his arm and doesn't really know what to say, but her sadness turns to confusion when he asks her that.

he's a bigshot now. he has a job she can't imagine doing. people depend on him. and here she is, wasting her time trying to get him to hang out with her and train her dog, like he said he would months ago.

of course he doesn't remember. 

"maugrim," she says weakly, "my lycanroc? um, it's okay, grey. nevermind, actually. i know you're super busy and it was dumb anyway and like, i should have him under control anyway, so let me just - i don't know, buy you ice cream for coming all the way out here and we can hang out some other time?"

the sunshine doesn't come back. not really. not entirely. but it's more out of concern for him than it is anything to do with her. he gives her a half-grin and she looks at him with a frown, then a decided nod, and brushes delphox!greyson aside so she can bodyslam herself into human!greyson and yank him into the world's tightest hug. 

she hangs there, silent, and then extracts herself, hoping enough happy juju got forced into him. 

"right. okay, it's puppy time." she unclips his ball, which sits right next to kirin's. the only time she can really let him out is when she's in the woods behind her house and she's sure no one's around. 

he always comes back, in the end, but he certainly doesn't come when she calls.

the white that announces his entrance hasn't dissipated before his hackles have already risen, ears flat against his head, and eyes locked on greyson in territorial display. saskia wilts.

greyson the delphox fades from the spotlight now that the bit is over. 

now that maugrim is crouching there, all snarling teeth, hackles raised, looking at sasky like she's some prime cut of meat. looking at greyson like he's a pile of ground chuck. 

saskia does not know what to expect. maybe autumn? maybe a lycanroc of his own? or a cat of some sort to bring some harmonious energy into the mix? whatever it is, she's certainly not expecting him to open a freaking portal right next to him and summon the biggest godsdanged dog she's ever seen in her whole life. 

her eyes bug out. her jaw drops. even maugrim tilts his head in confusion. 

"whattheheCKGREYSON," she says in one big rush. all the air leaves her lungs at once in a wheeze and she takes a step back, fearful of the meaner and way bigger dog currently stepping through, again, a FREAKING PORTAL MADE OUT OF NOWHERE!!!!

maugrim, however, gets over his initial shock, and snarls, pelt hardening, stones skittering, as he accelerocks towards the blue dog.
