With most of the Solar panels now set up Razz is mostly left on his own while the scientist he was asked to protect have their lunch. The Ranger captain having taken it on himself to stay behind while they were on their break to ensure the panels were safe while Razz tried to recover from the electrical shock he had from helping set them up. [break][break]

Salem seems to offer him some water with the use of psychic to ensure he didn't overheat as he still kept his Captain's Jacket on despite the heatwave that was causing the electrical surges. Echo seems to look else where as it seemed to sense someone coming.

the iron hands remains astute on their watch, quick to sense the imminent danger that rapidly approaches. while the underboss has no intentions of harming Raziel Beckett, his concern does not extend to the pokemon by their side nor the scientists on their lunch break.[break][break]

the shadows along the ground flicker to give way to ceruledge's SHADOW SNEAK. the moment the ghost-type materializes, its BITTER BLADE lashes out at the iron hands.[break][break]

at the same time, a horsea detaches itself from ceruledge before shooting out a SHADOW FIRE at the meowstic.[break][break]

for now, the underboss has yet to made his presence known.[break][break]

While an attack isn't a surprise, in fact is part of why he was hired, it still unexpected when it happens. Razz is quick to get up in only slight panic before taking in the situation. Echo takes a harsh hit, but thankfully Salem is able to body the SHADOW FIRE like a champ as the attack only breaks his DISGUISE.[break][break]

The battle will end far too quick if the two kept their battle partners so with a click of his tongue both know to switch targets. Salem starting off with ROLE PLAY to copy the FLASH FIRE ability of the ceruledge before Salem aims at it with SHADOW BALL.[break][break]

Meanwhile Iron Hands gathers electricity around it as it goes to WILD CHARGE the seahorse pokemon. [Break][break]

The ranger captain himself takes out his baton as he tries to look around for his assailant, "Show yourself!"

anyone else and the underboss would've chosen to stay in the shadows, but because it's the young ranger who shares such a complicated history with him, he decides to step out in the open, abandoning his vantage point in doing so.[break][break]

the shadows seem to give way for him as he steps into the light.[break][break]

between them, ceruledge contends with the SHADOW BALL with a PSYCHO CUT that tears the orb in two. horsea, charged at by WILD CHARGE, spews out a SMOKESCREEN and avoids the impact that way.[break][break]

Theo Beckett[break][break]

Theo fucking Beckett, it just had to be the one Rocket who Razz can't help but hesitate with. "They went out for lunch to get out of the heat, he answers honestly his grip on his baton tightening nervously. Though seeing on how his hands were still numb from the earlier shock he doesn't feel like he would have much of a chance should Theo decide to fight him.[break][break]

Not that he's ever won against his old teacher before without the other letting him. "Why are you here?" he decides to question hoping this was by random happen chance and the Underboss wasn't just following him. [Break][break]

Salem braces himself as the blades cut through his attack and strike him. The cat still fairing okay thanks to his typing but with a certain individual coming out from the shadows Salem knows he needs to switch to his own tactics. Salem deciding to keep up the pressure as it would follow up with a DARK PULSE. [Break][break]

Echo seemingly following the same strategy as the cat as it tries to go for another swing at the small sea horse with a THUNDER PUNCH even with limited sight.

perhaps not. perhaps his intentions are as unclear as the smokescreen that louds the battlefield and hinders their vision. either way, he seeks to clear it with his response.[break][break]

but that's only one half of the equation. the other half stands across from him, defiant with their baton.[break][break]

the battle between their pokemon fades into the background as the scene focuses, their conflict fading into the foreground as the underboss crosses the distance to tackle the ranger to the ground.[break][break]

He would've countered with something but the sudden SMOKESCREEN throws him off. The fighting between their pokemon makes trying to hear where the other is though even as he reveals his plan he can't seem to pinpoint exactly where as blows are being exchanged in the background by their feuding pokemon. [break][break]

Its the blunt pain that catches him off guard as he is suddenly tackled to the ground, the grip on his baton faltering from the surprise as it drops before the two hit the ground. "Damn it," he curses as he tries to punch at the other. After trying to wiggle his body in the same way Theo had taught him in trying to get a bigger opponent off of him. Though seeing how the Underboss was the one that had taught the Ranger it might have made it that much easier for the other to predict him and properly pin him down. [break][break]

"Like hell I'm going to let you," he growls back as he would still attempt to struggle against his old teacher.

He would've countered about the stubborn comment but Razz finds himself having to keep still as he feels the sharp metal against his neck. His body stops it's struggle at the weapon for now as he just scowls at the man above him. [Break][break]

For the moment he knows the Underboss won't do it, if not for their past relationship then at least for the 'favor' he still owes as a Ranger Captain, whatever that's worth. "Fine I'm listening"

The ranger blinks at the other, confused by the question though with the knife still at his neck he decides to play along for now. Wait for an opening of either Theo dropping his guard or his pokemon winning their matches. [Break][break]

"You think because you won over a city you're the 'winning side'? he counters the other with a question of his own. Sure Rocket has gotten other things but for him grabbing Sootopolis was their biggest, "But yeah I definitely felt like a loser well in Rocket" he flips it clearly still bitter.

The loser comment from Theo of all people can't help but cut deeper at his feelings more than the current knife at his next. There is hurt in his single eye but he makes no comment about it. The young man giving a single tch at the slight pain when the knife breaks skin. Though in comparison from his own mother having once stabbed his hand, and Theo having done worse to him as well its barely anything on the pain meter. Razz does use his free hand to try and prevent it from going deeper though as he grabs at the other's wrist. [break][break]

"For a man that does nothing but follow orders your listening skills are deplorable, they're at lunch," he sasses back, "Only left 10 minutes before you attacked, had you actually stuck to the shadows you might have been able to wait for them to be back but now with all this ruckus and seeing you they'll know to get help before you can do anything to them," he went on this time lying about the time they had left as it had been longer but the point was still the same. [break][break]

He knows he can't win here but if he could wait out? Then maybe...

the underboss' listening skills are far from deplorable but perhaps they are lacking on this day in particular. a clearer mind would have claimed him a more ideal position; a winning position; but now, even with the ranger pinned beneath him, he finds himself losing.[break][break]

the scales tilt away from him as backup arrives.[break][break]

"hm."[break][break]

his glare stays on the ranger, and for the briefest of moments, he debates ending their misery. their life would have amounted to nothing more than loss after loss after loss.[break][break]

but his heart gets the better of him.[break][break]

shoving his hand into raziel's face, theo rises back up to his feet, drawing the knife away right as the rest of the rangers swarm closer.[break][break]
