Robin had been interested in virtual reality for something fun like riding a roller coaster from the comfort of a couch, but the RKS wasn't that kind of experience. The briefing she got on the system had made it sound more interesting but also more serious. She didn't understand how the curios worked, but the RKS held secrets that the League would benefit from knowing. Something about the DRK Triad had been mentioned when she asked her buddies, and now...

Well, now it was too late to stop and ask more questions.

The simulation threw her in a jungle, and the Scream Tail's voice was excruciating. "Sin, please distract it with something," she pleaded, hands over her ears. The ghost floated closer to the abrasive pokemon and generated an aromatic mist to flood its senses and hopefully silence it.

Then, she turned to look at the tall man who'd entered the simulation with her. Mr. Silph was an easy enough figure to recognize, though she had not spent much time with anyone on the council.

Suddenly, the world darkens. Trees snap and the earth groans. Should you look up, you see what seems to be pages of a book and a book cover closing in on you.

Mr. Silph is a little nonchalant for someone in the vicinity of an ear splitting Scream Tail. His question takes an extra few seconds to process as her mind reels from the overloaded senses. "Er, yeah. Could you tell? Or did they say, 'hey, the super awesome Ranger Robin Coello that's way better than Greyson Connors is a rookie at the simulations?'" She jabbed a tentative thumb to her chest. "Because I am super awesome Ranger Robin Coello and way better than Greyson. And. I might be new to the simulations."

Her confession was more reluctant at the end, but. Whatever. The important part of the message was that she was superior to her rival and that all the folks facilitating the simulations knew it. "So, what brings you 'round these parts?"

"You own it?" She scrunched up her nose. "You need a better reason than that, yeah? Rich people aren't allowed to be boring." She put her hands on her hips, indignant. The city formed around them, and immediately it was clear that it was under siege. Her back straightened as she returned fully to her on-the-clock Ranger persona... but then she recalled it was a simulation.

She looked to him questioningly. "Can we learn about Rocket tactics from the simulation? Like, is it based off of real data, or..." She rubbed at her chin as she turned back to the siege. "Sin, go, like, observe." The ghost floated up high to perceive things at an aerial view. Robin liked chaos, but the destruction of a city she knew intimately left a weird twisting in her gut. It felt wrong to enjoy destroying something, but it was a video game.

"Just play along with it," she instructed to Sin, who launched a shadow ball at an abandoned street-side ice cream cart. She turned back to Mr. Silph. "Did you actually come for the sandbox experience? I'm more of an MMORPG gal, but city create-and-demo can be entertaining for a few hours."

vivid memories of slateport’s invasion play out in front of him. he had been at league head quarters, at the time, but the flow of battle was decided the moment they landed under the dead of night. the routes taken match previous reports, along with what he can only assume to be the very people who had overran the many that had lost their lives that night.

“these simulations are repeated scenes that have happened somewhere, at some time.”

rocket grunts flood all around them.

“there is much to gleam from experiences you’ve missed.”

Regardless of whether you are actively participating in the invasion or pretending to be a Rocket, you discover how aggressive this iteration of the Hoennian branch is. However, you notice how tame the conflict is compared to modern times.[break][break]

There is no mega evolution. No Z-moves. No Illumina or Shadow Pokemon running rampant across the battlefield. Slateport City descends into chaos as evacuations and retreat are ordered.[break][break]

Silas Blackwell, the old Rocket Boss can be seen leaving the shipyard, his presence still intimidating in its simulation.[break][break]
