Distance makes the heart grow fonder, or whatever. Raphael doesn't need to speak to assure Mint of anything. He doesn't even react, crashing lips against his own and silencing him the fastest way possible. His body moves when urged, tiny wings flicking upwards as a practiced hand passes gentle touch over smooth skin and feathers. The only gentleness he'd appreciate. Because his wings are new, untested with few if any people allowed touch. But his back especially, the source of most of his pain now healed and healthy. He'd let Raph reap that reward, the right to caress alien feathers. Maybe even keep one, if he'd like. [break][break]

Mint wants to reward him. To spoil and indulge him. He had never known worship like this before. Never known what it's like to be adored and consumed so wholly. It's here, in the in-between, where Mint's hypocrisy lay bare, dismantled in the face of adoration he could never bring himself to deny. A newborn idol weak to his devotee's offerings. [break][break]

There's little space for teasing or coyness. Very little thought other than the way Raphael overwhelms him in the best way, stealing his breath and dulling his thoughts. No guilt, no doubts, just the feeling of how perfectly his jagged edges fit against Raphael's, smoothed over by rough hands and hot kisses. [break][break]

It's a relief so many months in the making. So perfect it didn't feel like time had passed at all. He is the object of veneration and yet Mint calls out to Raphael like a god, incessantly, desperately. It's everything he'd asked- no, demanded of Raph. Of this. He wants to disappear into him. He wanted nothing more than to suffocate under his lover's reverence. To finally melt all the way down and become that angel worthy of Raphael's worship. [break][break]

He's lost to it, rendered immobile by Raphael's ministrations. Overcome and blinded, by one devotee. There's no space left between them for anything but their labored breathing that was slowly starting to slow back to normal. He doesn't understand it, couldn't understand the pedestal he'd been laid upon. Nothing worked. [break][break]

He could barely move, healing wings laying limp over damp sheets or folded over closely to his skin, and too weak to open his eyes. But the wait of his lover is there, and his arms envelope him. The warmth shared is a comfort, and his exhaustion beat back an incessant buzzing of thoughts he usually grappled with before sleep took him. [break][break]

Mint doesn't believe himself any measure of holy. His wings are a sign of a pact, a price paid in exchange for power. A way for his patron to reflect what he hid from the world, a Beast. No angel but harpy, with a beautiful face and barely hidden talons. But that isn't something his lover cared for, evidenced by the fact he was still here helping him sleep. And with no guilt or thought to hold him back, he's generous in his affections. He leans into the devotion, curling up and fitting himself as perfectly as possible against the curves of Raphael's body. He presses close, wanting nothing more than to melt into the crevices of the man next to him. [break][break]
