True to the cave's name, it is home to a large population of Seviper, none of which look too happy to see your intrusion! Furthermore, additional travel north is made impossible by an iron gate whose door is under lock and key. As your eyes catch an open tunnel to the right, you also see several of the bladed snakes slither toward Shalin and her Pyroar, raising their tail blades in an effort to attack them![break][break]

arceus, there really are a lot of seviper here. absinthe can't truly act surprised, as she willingly chose to go to a cave with seviper in the name, but it still prickles at her heart to know that she has to kill the poor things. they're just protecting their home, aren't they...?[break][break]

...no. what the hell is wrong with her? it's a damn game. it's not like absinthe is a wellspring of empathy, either.[break][break]

with a sigh, she decides to support shalin as she combats the horde. after all, if there's a virtual meat shield, might as well make good damn use of her.[break][break]

Your prowess as a WIZARD enables your Pokémon to blast away several members of the horde with powerful ranged attacks, one by one. Despite your every effort, their numbers prove too great; Shalin seems to be struggling. You hear a series of pained roars as the tails of several Seviper find her Pyroar's flesh, giving her an unwanted haircut blemished with red fur. Though harrowing, you eventually seize victory in the brutal battle. With all the Seviper dispatched, you are free to explore the large cavern.[break][break]

While fighting, you discover a series of stalagmites in a curious formation: the shape of an arrow pointing toward the west wall. While your investigation does not reveal any visual cracks in the wall, you can't help but notice a minute draft coming from that side. Deductive reasoning lets you infer there is something on the other side of that wall.[break][break]

shalin acts like a good meat shield during the battle, allowing absinthe to clean up the remaining hostile pokemon with ease. that does, however, leave no small amount of suspicious rock formations in the cave that lead towards a strange wall, still standing in the aftermath of the battle. it looks breakable. absinthe would like to break it.[break][break]

not by herself, though. she has shalin for that! she decides to ask shalin if one of her pokemon can break open the wall.

You ask Shalin for assistance breaking down the wall. She sends out a Kommo-o who is quick to strike the section of the wall where the draft is coming from. You hear the grating sound of his vibrating fists as they grind away at said area of the wall. Toward the end, you and Shalin can feel the disturbance in the air from the powerful shaking. Eventually the wall gives way, a piece of stone making a loud impact on the other side of the hidden offshoot.

Within the secret cave is an open treasure chest, Inside is a fairly large hoard of transparent emeralds, sapphires, and rubies, with a SMALL KEY hooked to its lid. While the key would be immediately useful, the gems look like they would sell for a small fortune. "Whoa, looks like someone was storing treasure here a long time ago!" she cries, peering into the chest. "If we can find a buyer for all this, we'll be set for a long time! We should agree on how to split this up."

You obtain a SMALL KEY! This key will open any one lock. You can use it only in this dungeon.

absinthe is quite thrilled to find that shalin has no trouble with the wall, and even more thrilled to find what lies behind it. a veritable cache of treasure — glittering jewels, ruby, sapphire, emerald, and a key to pull it all together. when shalin asks how to split it, absinthe is quick to decide to TAKE IT ALL FOR HERSELF.[break][break]

yeah, whatever. absinthe rolls her eyes even on the other side of the screen. if shalin had wanted a share, she should have stolen it up quicker than absinthe. life doesn't wait for the slow. regardless, she's a video game character. why does she have to have such a mouth on her anyways? if absinthe can certainly put up with a bothersome conscience, then shalin can put up with being poor.[break][break]

Beyond the locked gate, you can see an ornate treasure chest surrounded on all sides by large, heavy-looking stones - perhaps the remnant of a powerful Pokémon using ROCK SLIDE.
