Using the MACHO BRACES, you are able to easily lift the large stone out of the way! Behind it is a dusty, wooden chest, which you crack open. It appears to be an ancient MAP a previous explorer made. You decide to take it with you.[break][break]

Shalin peers over your shoulder at the MAP. Upon simple inspection, it appears the way deeper into the cave is through the previous room's northeast tunnel, but there are other places you have not been as well! She seems open to let you lead the way, now that you have the means to navigate more easily![break][break]

You head through the large chamber's northeast tunnel alongside Shalin. You feel she would be enjoying the bouncy ride her Pyroar offers, if it weren't for the awful wounds the Lilligant had afflicted her with.[break][break]

The tunnel opens into several forks that loop upon themselves. Both you and Shalin notice Whirlipede tracks ahead. Taking pause, you are glad you did. You hear a rumble from your right as a rather large Whirlipede whizzes by you without it noticing you! Your keen senses make you aware that there appear to be four of them patrolling the round tunnels. Studying their patterns, you and Shalin sidestep them all with relative ease.[break][break]

As you hide in an alcove to avoid their patrols, you notice a small, wooden box in its corner. You pop it open to sate your idle curiosity. Within is another SMALL KEY.[break][break]

You obtained a SMALL KEY! This key will open a locked door. You can use it only in this dungeon.[break][break]

Passing all the Whirlipede, you come to a fork, one half of which slopes upward, and the other which slopes down. Looking around a large rock blocking the way, you can see a faint light coming from the end of the upward-sloping tunnel. It's a good thing you have the MACHO BRACES! Otherwise, this would have been difficult to pass![break][break]

You ascend through the tunnel, pushing an extremely heavy stone out of the way. The tunnel takes you outside of the cave completely, putting you on the "roof" of the fossilized snake. The unique perspective lets you see the cave's serpentine shape quite well. On the opposite side of the top surface is another tunnel that Shalin leads the way into.[break][break]

You behold a large, open cavern with stalagmites forming a maze. Several of them look weak and cracked. In its center, you can see another wooden box similar to the one you located the MAP in.[break][break]

Though your first attempt is unsuccessful, being a WIZARD makes you a quick study. Combined with the strength the MACHO BRACES give you, you defeat the challenge before you, procuring the SMALL KEY from within the box well before it recedes into the floor and out of reach.[break][break]

With two keys in hand now, you return to the outside of the serpentine cave. You could easily jump down to return to the entrance, or even leave the dungeon entirely, as there is plenty of room for a flying Pokémon to take off.[break][break]

You head up through the ascending tunnel, which resembles the inside of an intenstine hewn from stone. It is unsettling, to say the least, and would have been downright disgusting if it looked any more alive. Perhaps this cave really once was a Dynamaxed or Gigantimaxed Seviper?[break][break]

As you pass through the large tunnel, a Garganacl and four Naclstack slide down it from hidden alcoves, trying to crush you beneath their weight. The speed of Shalin's Skuntank steed keeps her safe, but you are not so lucky. The fourth Naclstack scrapes your back and legs with its saline body.[break][break]

When you emerge from the tunnel, you find yourself in the snake's "tail", having to push more heavy stone out of the way with your MACHO BRACES while keeping your eye out for sections of floor that look thin and unable to bear your weight. As you take a step off a cracked part of the stone floor, it collapses behind you. You hear the echo of a distant splashing sound, not wanting to think how far of a fall that would be. At the end of the hall, you find another locked gate. Good thing you have a SMALL KEY for it![break][break]

Before you can begin to open the gate with your SMALL KEY, Shalin's legs buckle from the trip through the petrified intestine. She collapses to her knees, eventually keeling over. She appears to be sweating profusely and is badly bruised.[break][break]

After you mercilessly drag Shalin through the gate, her badly bruised body now bleeding in multiple places, you get the feeling you're being watched. As the two of you peer around the cavern as it opens up, a wall of stones forms over both of its exits. The ghastly, grinning face of a Hisuian Typhlosion appears in the floor in the center of the cavern. It spits fireballs of INFERNAL PARADE skyward, causing it to rain purple flames![break][break]

The wounds she suffered on the way to the phantom's chamber leave her unable to evade the ghostly fire. She looses a blood-curdling scream, knowing that her final moments are upon her. Out of the corner of your eye, you see her reach toward you in desperation, her mutilated face and body barely recognizable from how badly burned she is.[break][break]

Though you manage to land a strong blow upon the HISUIAN TYPHLOSION that steals Shalin's last breath from her, you quickly realize that without her help, the apparition is far too strong. You are overwhelmingly outmatched. You and your Pokémon fight valiantly, but are unable to land another significant strike upon your foe. After a haunting laugh from the blazing phantom, the ground beneath you disappears, causing you to fall what feels like a long distance. Your consciousness fades from you as you tumble into what feels like an endless abyss.[break][break]

You wake up in the entry chamber to the Seviper's Remains. Although in agony, you have survived the terrible burns. Shalin, on the other hand, is nowhere to be found. Pangs of guilt surface with the knowledge that one of your support Pokémon would likely had been able to save her life... had you not neglected to care for her.[break][break]

(GAME OVER: Shalin has died.)
