This one was throwing Porter for a loop. Or maybe his brain was just starting to get pickled from all the salt.

“How are we supposed to escort Pokemon out of the ocean?” he asked, voice mechanical through the commlink, hoping his mission partner AIRI WATANABE might have a better idea.

“Do we ask them nicely? Please, sir or madam Luvdisc, just swim this way so you don’t get crushed?”

Ermenesande heaved a big piece of metal on her back and lifted it clear. As if on cue, some tiny fish sprint-swam away.

Airi was wading through the water with a tracking device in her head. According to the soft beeping noise and the glowing red and green dots flashing across the screen there is a trapped Pokémon not too far away from her. Her deep azure eyes scan over the slightly murky water for a few more seconds until her keen eyes take notice of a Mantyke with her wings caught between two pieces of metal. The debris floating around in the water almost making it impossible to notice the smaller Pokémon swimming around inside of the large ocean. Airi signals for her Swampert, Bean, to swim over to assist with freeing the Mantyke from the metal trap. The Swampert makes his way over quickly, using his powerful muscles to free the Mantyke.

Airi giggles and shakes her head at her partner's question. "I am not here to judge you, Porter. Do whatever you feel like is going to take to help you get them somewhere safe. I do not care if you have to perform you all Rain Dance or something," she teases him, a few more giggles escaping from her full lips as she gently picks up the Mantyke and carries it inside of her caring arms. Bean grabs the two pieces of metal and drags them towards the shore to discard them in the contains that the ranger had prepared for the materials that needs to be removed from the ocean.

"See, it looks like you are getting the hang of it! Good job, Porter," she smiles at him. She then walks the Mantyke over to the examine table that she was able to set up a few minutes ago. "Bean, keep helping Porter and Ermensande remove the debris from the ocecan and I will join you all once I am done examining this cutie-pie," she tells her Swampert. Bean nods his head before walking back towards the water to assist the Empoleon with removing even bigger piece of metal from the ocean.

Maybe he was thinking about this the wrong way. It was hard to imagine there being barriers in the ocean, large, formless, expansive shape of the void that it was.

He turns to look up at AIRI WATANABE’s Swampert as it manhandles huge pieces of metal to free a Mantyke.

“I don’t think Rain Dance would help in this situation,” he said in a tone that sounded like he was genuinely considering it. “I think we’re wet enough as it is.”

Ermenesande papped him with her broad wing and gestured downward. Porter cocked his head and moved closer. His Empoleon slid her flipper beneath the seam of some collapsed metal and began to lift; Porter crouched and wrapped his fingers around the lifted edge and helped. His muscles were burning, but pink fish after pink fish began to stream from the newly opened doorway.

Airi blinks her sapphire blue eyes a few times as she replays Porter's words in her mind. She did not expect the other ranger to take her words in a figuratively manner. She tries her best not to allow a giggle to escape from her lips but struggled to keep her laughter inside. "Oh, Porter," she giggles, shaking her head at him. She did not have anything else to say to his response.

After taking the small water-type's vital signs, Airi signals for her Slowbro, Ginseng, to come over to assist her. "Its wing is a little damaged. Heal Pulse, please," she instructs her Slowbro. A lazy yawn escapes from Ginseng's mouth as he raises his hands then points them towards the Mantyke. A soothing pink energy comes out of his hands and flows inside of the Mantyke, healing its injuries and restoring its health. The Mantyke lets out a soft coo, gently moving its once injured wing around a bit. "Feels much better, doesn't it? It may still feel a little sore. So, you are going to have to take it easy for a few days," she tells the baby manatee. Her Leavanny then walks over to the Mantyke and uses a string shot on its wing to help protect it. The silk should be strong enough to withstand the water. Airi then walks the Mantyke over towards the ocean to release it. The Mantyke gives her a quick wave with one of its wings before swimming off.

"I will say that we are off to a pretty good start. What do you say, Porter?" She asks walking towards him and his Pokémon. It seems that some of the heavy lifting may be getting the best of her partner.
