She doesn't get it. The relationship between them. It's as ephemeral as the mist surrounding them, but she lets confusion pass without holding onto the feeling. [break][break]

Brief imagery of a picnic sprawls out in the terrain before flickering away. These images are more vibrant, like the mind is trying to focus on them more, and it matches the very brief and totally incomplete transcription she has of their dream. She's sure that the dream is coming back to him, even that that isn't showing in the terrain, but the real show is this remorse.[break][break]

Whatever closure he needs, the mind is working through it. She doesn't want to speak and interrupt the illusion while the mist slowly dissipates.

when the dream starts fading, the mist wraps to give them a brief glimpse of Elisabeth Fiorelli standing in his living room. she places a pokeball on the mantelpiece along with a note. she blinks away a tear while another glides down her cheek.[break][break]

She blinks as the mist fades with the last visage of Elisabeth - one she can't yet decipher, unaware of it is a memory or a purely fictitious dream, or something in between. "It would have been unwise to leave," she explains without elaboration. "You may not feel different, but revisiting whatever your mind was chewing on should remedy whatever has been following you since the initial unsettling dream."[break][break]

His visit to the terrain was less disjointed and abstract than she'd expected, which tells her that he really did remember the sleep study - at least, more than those that truly forgot. Any obsessive qualities that had gnawed at him should be lessened. She would need to follow-up with him in several months to better assess any changes, but having not met him before this experiment will prohibit her from drawing major conclusions. [break][break]

In any case, today is a success. "I appreciate your time, Matias. If you find further issues, please do not hesitate to reach out."

This is an unexpected piece of the puzzle that is Matias Silph. Is he seeking comfort? Intellectualizing what has been bothering him? [break][break]

"Revisiting the dream in this manner should halt any further disruptions to your sleep. Lingering negative feelings can be processed in the conscious mind, as you consider what you have visited." She makes a dismissive gesture, but her eyes are glued to Matias with clear interest. "Your problem is as good as solved. Are you expecting me to interrogate you about what I witnessed? She had expected a public figure with such a public failing to prefer privacy. She's delighted. He does not align with her expectations in any way. A test subject with more questions than answers could frustrate most scientists, but she finds them all to be opportunities to better explore the dream realm. [break][break]

"This problem should be resolved without further expansion of the mind. That said, if you find yourself fighting nightmares, especially as this war befalls us, I would happy to revisit this practice." She rises, as if to shake his hand, but she does not offer it. [break][break]

She wants to see his mind unfold completely. "If you happen to be available for such a venture, I would be happy to take you through the interdream zone. There are a few outcroppings where the mist reliably spills into our reality." Would she see Groudon? Elisabeth? The pretty blonde from his dream? For his involvement in large, headline events - namely, those pertaining to Groudon - she doesn't believe he's never experienced the Interdream Zone. She imagines he's been drafted into various expeditions by the League to test his strength and other skills, and perhaps his connection to the world or other deities. She expects, then, that this is a test of her honesty. [break][break]

"The mist that only appears in Hoenn, unexpectedly. It's pink, and - by my theory - shifts you to an alternate reality or a plane between realities. The paradox pokemon, allegedly, come from this interdream zone." She's going to have the longest report ahead of her after this meeting. Matias has left her many interesting tidbits to follow up on later. "You never encountered it?"

It's a good technique for getting people to talk more. But she doesn't suspect he'll have anything valuable to add about the mists, not anything she doesn't know. Her eyes narrow at the question. It's an unexpected shift. She's a CEO. She's a scientist. The question of danger makes her wonder if she's had him pegged wrong the entire time. She couldn't assess his capacity for manipulation. This meeting was too brief to make any kind of determination. [break][break]

"No," she answers slowly. "I've never seen any lasting negative effects from my research. Psychic pokemon leave my studies unhindered. I think the worst I've seen is someone feeling scatterbrained, like a brain fog, for a few hours after a dive into their mind." It's true, barring the Gemini study itself. She can't assess the damage of it, however, without re-entering every single mind. But for the most part, the worst has been amnesia, which she'll take as a worthwhile expense.

One person has little control over what another dreams, though I suppose I could have tried to impose my sleeping mind's works onto that visible 'scape. The issue is that I have built a significant resistance to what Musharna releases." She hums. [break][break]

"But through other means, I certainly could have. The problem lies in this: you must open your mind to enter someone else's or to even influence theirs. There is no one-way door. If I had tried something of this nature, you would have had opportunity to mess with mine, also."
