Today had to be the most tedious of missions. But it had to be done, and since she was required to work and help out here, she might as well get her hands dirty. That being said, today was trash day.

[break][break] Meaning that she was spending her day picking up and clear debris and other trash and environmental hazards from the nature preservation in the midst of all this chaos. When she wasn't clearing trash she was helping other volunteers and ranger officials with their own work.

[break][break] Next to her, Titan, her Rockruff was doing his best to be of help too. Running along picking of trash with his small mouth and carrying it to the other individual that held the trash bag for them. "Be careful!" Daphnée warned the puppy, not that he was listening to her anyway. She didn't want him to choke on the debris while ripping and running like that.

[break][break] With an inaudible sigh, she continued to work on her area. Picking up pieces of glass, plastic, and other hazardous materials. Carrying them in her arm she made her way over to the the guy she was working with.

[break][break] "Thanks for holding this for us." She said with a smile as she dumped her trash into the bag.

Collecting trash wasn't the most honorable or fulfilling type of work Noel had in mind when he became a Ranger. But someone has to do the job, he supposes. Left alone, it could become just as dangerous as a wild Pokemon. The filthier it gets, the more damage it could cause to the local ecosystem. [break][break]

With Noel, was an unfamiliar face. One Daphnée Marseille. She seemed to be holding well on her own. Any extra pair of hands would be helpful in making sure this area was spotless. Holding the bag open, her share of debris falls into the bag. Once full, he then tosses it into a pile full of the same type of bag, all filled to the brim with refuse.[break][break]

"No problem, we've got out work cut out for us today though. Hopefully the League can send more people in to help clean this place up. But for now, just you and me. So let's do our best."[break][break]

His Braixen walks up to the monstrous field of trash bags. With a wave of its wand, fire shoots out from its tip and a steady trail of Flamethrower reduces the junk into nothing but ash. Swept away by the wind as noxious fumes soon replaces the smoky aroma.

His response was simple and straight-forward. Daphnée's smile, however, never faded once. It was practiced and easy-going. "Sure thing." she agreed with a nod before turning to continue picking up trash along the the bank with Titan, her Rockruff.

[break][break] The task was monotonous enough that the minutes began to blend together. However, Daphnée knew if she stayed focus this little chore would end up finished in no time.

[break][break] At least, that's what she believed until she heard a familiar trill from above. Daphnée paused as she listened for the call again, which immediately followed. Her brows creased as the cry followed the two previous for a third time, this was a signal. Dropping what she was doing she whistled for Titan to return to her side.

[break][break] Glancing at her partner, she pointed in the direction that she'd heard her Fletchinder's signal. "That's my Fletchinder. It means he found something dangerous or encountered a problem. I'm going to check it out. Feel free to follow or you can stay and request assistance from the other teams."

[break][break] Daphnée's entire aura had changed. Now more serious and seemingly quick on her feet. With a nod towards Titan she dashed off in the direction the signal had come from. "Titan, find Apollo for me. Quickly." she said as her Rockruff barked in response before quickly dashing off ahead of her.

And so Noel follows right behind Daphnee, heading straight into the lion's den, hoping that they aren't too late for whatever the problem may be.[break][break]

The two run past the mountain piles of trash and finally reach to where Daphnee's Fletchinder was letting out its cry. What they'll find however, is something Noel was all too familiar with.[break][break]

A Swampert, rampaging all around what once was its habitat, now only a crushed memory. With just a single sweep from its mighty arms, debris flies all over as multiple smaller Pokemon cower in fear a small distance away from the carnage. Its motive remains unclear to the eyes of the ranger. Whether angry due to the loss of its home or under the influence of the Tera crystals that laid underneath, Noel could not say. For now, quelling its rage was of the topmost priority.[break][break]

"We've got to save those Pokemon and stop that Swampert from doing any more harm. I'm going in Daphnee, you focus on rescuing the others."[break][break]

Before she can say anything, he hops down to face the bulking water-type. His Scream Tail pops out and lets out a Noble Roar to ready itself for battle.

She hadn't expected to encounter a Swampert on a rampage but then again, she wasn't sure what to expect when she took off running. Daphnée's eyes landed on the smaller pokemon that were cowering in fear and knew she needed to take care of them.

[break][break] That's why she didn't protest when Noel made the arrangement. "Say the word if you need help." she said as she quickly took off to approach the smaller pokemon. It was a small group of mudkip, some marill, and a few wooper's.

[break][break] She approached them gently as she held out her hands. "Shhh, it's okay you guys." She said as she slowly approached. "I'm not gonna hurt you."

[break][break] They seemed hesitant at first but the more that the swampert raged and destroyed everything around them, the more they must've felt like relying on Daphnée wouldn't be such a bad idea.

[break][break] "Come with me, I'll get you guys out of here." she said in a soothing voice as she scooped up a few mudkip and marill in her arms. "Titan, help me lead them away from here." she said to her rockruff who barked happily in response.

Either by blind hatred or chance the giant mud fish Pokemon finally takes notice of the two rangers who now intrude on his territory. It lets out a roar of its own and stomps heavily towards Noel's Scream Tail to begin its attack. [break][break]

The blue-haired trainer and his companion would start things off first however. The pink Paradox swoops in through the air and latches onto one of the Swampert's arms with a fierce Psychic Fang. The giant swings its arm around in an attempt to free itself from the prehistoric beast but with no avail.[break][break]

After some time, it stills itself and raises its other arm upwards before smacking down on the Scream Tail with a Hammer Arm. With such sheer force the Paradox Pokemon has no choice but to let go and is thrown off, slightly deflated on the ground.[break][break]

"Looks like it's not willing to go down so easily..." Noel says as he grits his teeth.[break][break]

He looks towards Daphnee and her rescue operation. So far so good, but there was no telling when their aggressor would suddenly change targets.

It didn't take long for Daphnée to relocate the baby pokemon. She chose a more secluded area out of the way of carnage.

[break][break] After they were settled she turned her attention towards Titan. "Okay boy, I need you to do me a favor?" Titan gave her his undivided attention. "Watch over these guys for me. Don't let anyone get through. Can you handle that?" the rockruff barked as he puffed out his chest. Clearly he was the most fearless of warriors to grace the earth. Surely his master knew that.

[break][break] Daphnée chuckled at his response. "I know you can do it." With that she turned her attention towards the Swampert and Noel. It seemed to be putting up quite the fight. She hadn't anticipated this much resistance. So once she was sure that the smaller pokemon were safe she approached again, this time to offer support.

[break][break] "I'll help!" Daphnée called out as she approached. Wind began to pick up slowly. Gradually building and building until a stormy vortex was formed. Her gossifleur entered the field with a timely LEAF TORNADO to surround and trap the swampert.

The support came as a surprise to Noel, it seemed as though the rescue proved to be a success. Now all they needed to do was take care of this Swampert.[break][break]

"Thanks. I don't know what's got it all riled up but we can't allow it to continue on like this. I don't want to hurt it too bad though, it's probably just scared."[break][break]

With each attack the Swampert grew more and more furious. All this time Noel's Scream Tail had been pulling its punches, but any more power and they would cause lasting damage against the rampaging creature. There was but one way now to soothe the beast.[break][break]

"Plug your ears! I'm gonna try and calm it down but it might affect us too."[break][break]

Taking his own advice, he covers his ears before his Pokemon begins to unleash a raucous noise for all to hear. What could only be described as a crude way of Singing filled the air. Its harsh tones made their way to the Swampert's ears, causing it's eyes to slowly drift but not without resistance. Through willpower alone does it stand on its feet still, doing anything to keep itself awake.

Despite what it looked like, Daphnée and Iris, her gossifleur, were pulling their punches too. It truly was just a typing difference. Daphnée had already figured that the pokémon's rage was justified. But the rampage had to be stopped in order to ensure the safety of the other's.

[break][break] With a snap of her fingers the leaf tornado subsided and Iris returned to her side. Under Noel's instruction both Daphnée and Iris covered their ears.

[break][break] The singing was muffled for them but Daphnée knew what Noel was attempting to do. She could only watch in anticipation. The swampert seemed to resist until the very end. But even in all it's anger it couldn't resist the...unique lullaby from the paradox pokemon.

[break][break] Within a few minutes the swampert was put to sleep and suddenly everything around them became quiet and still. With a sigh of relief Daphnée lowered her hands and turned towards Noel. "Good work." she said as she turned back towards the baby pokemon. "We'll have to find these guys new homes." she said as she bent down to scoop up a few Marill and Mudkip in her arm. She couldn't help but feel bad for these guys.
