Logic would dictate that she should really be elsewhere right now. Her logic dictates that she can't leave without having found her pendant again, like a curse, an item necessary for plot progression - or a good-luck-charm she can't do without. It's a beloved piece for sure, an uneasy feeling filling her as she wanders around, uncertain where it might be. It seems to be quite some luck that she isn't getting into much danger on her way throughout the debris ...[break]

Furrowed eyebrows, she thinks she locates ... something ... Something seems to have gotten stuck at a kind of steel construct falling apart, thick wires of metal sticking out like bared fangs, and one delicate item hangs up loftily. "Oh ..." she mutters to herself, watching above as she reaches out a hand, holding her Munna with the other - tip-toeing, like she is quite used to by now, considering her height and all, but ... well, she is falling several inches - if not feet - short, yet keeps trying as she loses her balance-

When he had first brought up the idea to include civilians in their emergency response efforts to prepare for the upcoming war, freya morningstar had disagreed. She put up a hard fight, declaring that putting civilians in danger wasn't worth the effort, but Ollie had promised that he would make sure that the Rangers and more importantly that he would make sure to be selective on which volunteers made it through the cut.

[break][break] After all, the last thing he wanted was someone to get hurt.

[break][break] But he'd never thought that children would try to sneak their way in either.

[break][break] "HEY! Watch out!"

[break][break] A shout from ollie morales echoes through the corridors of Sea Mauville as the steel beam above Chrysanthe Kubrick groans loudly, its weakened exterior threatening to collapse onto the small child. But no way is Ollie going to let that happen.

[break][break] Swiftly, as he sprints forward, the Head Ranger calls forth his DECIDUEYE. The pokemon's GRASSY GLADE allows it to close the distance in mere heartbeats, attempting to grab the child before the steel beam falls with a devastating CRASH.

A lot of things happen in the span of moments - seconds, or the fraction of such, enough that she doesn't quite process the steel beam falling, nor the Decidueye swooping in to save her, or the voice that preceded this. Or, the loud explosion. Chrysanthe only presses the Munna closer to her body, knuckles turning white, as she closes her eyes tightly. But ... what about what she lost-?[break]

It's only when the loud sound is only a mere memory that she slowly opens her eyes, one after the other, as she looks at the dual type with confusion - shaking, shivering, though she doesn't seem to acknowledge it herself. "W- huh ...?" she mutters to herself - before her gaze wanders around hastily, in panic, as she tries to locate where she must have lost her pendant. But - where is it now-? She hasn't fully registered the head ranger's presence just yet, absorbed in her own thoughts. "My- my pendant ..."

The metal beam crashes thuds against the broken hull of a ship, before rolling off the edge of the platform and into the water. It's not an ideal scenario, but far better than seeing a child get crushed under it's weight.

[break][break] Ollie sprints forward, sighing with relief, when he sees that Captain got to the girl in time. The child collected warmly in the pokemon's feathers, even as they unravel from each other.

[break][break] Dropping to his knees, the Head Ranger assesses the young girl for injuries.

[break][break] He sighs:

[break][break] "What're you doing here, huh? This isn't a playground, ya know?"

[break][break] But he's more relieved and concerned then he is frustrated.

[break][break] He hasn't yet noticed the other girl's frantic energy, that she is actually looking for something too.

Only then does she realise that she isn't factually alone - that there is someone else who has been seemingly on the lookout for her, or just anyone in the perimeters of the danger surrounding them. It rings alarms bell at first until she notices that the other doesn't seem ... as mad at her. Yet? It's uncertain. But feeling a little calmer with a person around that's not yelling ... well. She squints curiously at him, for starters. "-of course it's not a playground," she retorts with a nod, though she has no different term for this kind of occurrence. If it's not a castle, then ...?[break]

"Actually, what is it, then?" Chrysanthe asks, a little stumped - nearly forgetting over her pendant, that must have fallen into the water - or the depths, or blown somewhere else entirely ... She looks around, taking in the sights of wreckage and ruins. "What is happening-?"

[break][break] It was kind of pitiful. What happened to the kid's parents — or guardian, or whatever? Letting her walk into such an important renovation site?

[break][break] "You might not recognize it, but it's Sea Mauville. Unfortch, it's been sinking into the sea for quite some time, so we've had to exercise some evacuation efforts and emergency ops to make sure that it - or any of the important data, ya know - didn't fall into the water."

[break][break] He blinked.

[break][break] "How'd you even get here? Where are your parents, lil girl?"

[break][break] Meanwhile, his Blastoise dove into the water to collect the fallen steal beam, shoving it back onto the submerged structure that they both stood on. The pokemon shoved the beam back into place where it ought to have stood, then melded it together with a carefully adapted BLIZZARD.

Looking at Ollie with contemplation for some moments after he shares where they are, she nods eventually, "so ... like a lost castle?" It's more of a mutter to herself, pondering over what she heard (or what she wanted to hear out of it). It's definitely not where she would be like, so his questions are only making sense. And still ... "-I'm old enough to go on my own-" (Probably. Maybe.) "-and I'm looking for my pendant ... did you see it?"[break]

The Blastoise's actions are catching her attention, though, looking over to the Pokémon - amazed at the work he did. "Woah, that was awesome!" she says with a gentle smile, and still ... wait, out of the peripheral of her eyes, are those- Softly pulling the ranger aside, so as to say out of sight of what she is seeing, she whispers, "are those ... not friends?" The approaching group of Toxapexes don't look too friendly ...

"Erm. Sort of?"

[break][break] Ollie had never seen a castle — well, not one like the one she seemed to be describing. Though there were some pretty abandoned castles back in the outskirts of Geohenge... but wait. He was getting off topic.

[break][break] "Pendant?" he echoed, blinking rapidly. "What's it look like?"

[break][break] What would a pendant be doing here, anyhow? Were her parents one of the survivors, then?

[break][break] He offered a hand out, hoping that she would grab it so they could walk out of this very dangerous "castle" together. Hopefully unscathed.

[break][break] "Take my hand and I can help you find your - "

[break][break] The Head Ranger blinked again, turning as he saw what she was pointing at. A group of Toxapex. Oh geeze. His stomach lurched, reminded of robin coello's reaction. His eyes flickered uncertainly towards the little girl. Maybe she didn't share the same fear?

[break][break] More importantly - however - was the shimmering pendant caught on one of the Toxapex's spikes. Though this Toxapex looked bigger than the rest of them. And much more aggressive.

[break][break] "Hey," he murmured, his voice lowering as to not be caught. "How important did you say that pendant of yours was again?"

Chrysanthe takes the offered hand without too much thought, though only after rearranging the Munna in her arms. So this is a sort of ... lost castle, huh? It makes her wonder what everything else is, or where the evil witch or wizard would be. There should be something like this, too, not? But before she can inquire Ollie about it, a group of Toxapex appeared, and ... "Are those the evil overlords?" she mutters to herself as she goes into hiding alongside of the head ranger, furrowing her eyebrows in thought. She doesn't look scared per se, and ... probably more along the lines of curious.[break]

However, when Ollie inquired about the pendant, she looks up to him with a serious expression, "I cannot leave without it." Her mind is still very much caught up on the issue, unwilling to quite let go of it ... Huh ... Oh. Is that her pendant on one of the Toxapex? But the head ranger doesn't look quite as thrilled - understandable, to be honest, since the evil overlord seems quite evil. "Uhm ... but maybe I can try leaving ... without it ..." she whispers, squinting at the other.

[break][break] Probably not, but Ollie didn't want to risk getting the young child injured in the process of trying to tame them. He'd have to come back later to make sure they were properly dealt with — and then he could make sure to get her pendant in the process.

[break][break] Leading her backwards, slowly, towards the exit, he leaned closer to her.

[break][break] "I promise ya with my Ranger badge that I'll get your pendant. Just ask for the name Ollie Morales at the tent - "

[break][break] Before he could say much else, however, it seemed that the Toxapex's group leader had spotted them. Something ominous glowed around the pokemon and Ollie's hands closed protectively around the girl's shoulder.

[break][break] "But for now, we run!"

[break][break] And with that, the Head Ranger sprinted, holding his hand tight, to make sure that she followed him to safety.

It seems that the gripping, unpleasant reality is like such: She will have to leave, without her pendant. Or maybe not - his words promise something else, a plot twist that would turn the stale present into something more delightful. She can only mutter out a brief "okay!" before they are already quick on their feet - running away from the growing threat of the Toxapex.[break]

Eyes wide, a Pokéball goes loose as she runs - Doireann the Mawile breaking free and running alongside his trainer. "Can you check for anything ahead?" she manages to ask the Pokémon between breaths, each syllable carefully crafted. A lost castle seems to promise danger ... as proven already, so it doesn't hurt to scout ahead, right? But as they manage to come to a stand-still a while after, she lifts a pinkie towards the head ranger, "Ollie Morales ... right? Pinky promise then!" Yeah, she's going to trust him on that.
