The visitor this time was ollie morales. Genny knew he'd be coming today. He needed to check in on his rangers, and Genny was no exception. But this visit would be less than cordial. Because here, in Ever Grande, aside from the physical therapy with Nurse Katharina Strophe, or the visit from Sheriff Navy, or the very realist talk she had with Officer paxton concordas...[break][break]

This one was going to hurt.[break][break]

She fiddles in her hospital bed, petting on the little Yamper she had with her. Lucky panted happily, looking up and getting belly rubs. But Genny would keep an eye to the door, awaiting for her Head Ranger, and a man she would follow without fail.

"Don't worry, Pax," he says into his phone, as he walks through the hospital hallway. "I'll take care of it."

[break][break] The Head Ranger enters Ever Grande's Hospital in his typical golden-emblemed Head Ranger uniform. He's been making round ever since the events of Sootopolis and Petalburg have come to a close. There are countless others that he has to visit today, on a neverending list of the injured and the fallen. The burnt corpse of DEREK HOFFMAN lives rent-free in his mind, as does the still-missing body of RAZZ KINGSMAN.

[break][break] But he knows that even through all the destruction, there must be a symbol of light to guide them foreward. A beacon of HOPE to give those left something to live for.

[break][break] To visit his Rangers as he makes his rounds; it is basically ritual by this point.

[break][break] "Genny!"

[break][break] Ollie grins as he steps through the entryway, pushing the door open with a broad arm. His Pikachu leaps off his shoulders and dashed out ahead him, quickly jumping into the redhead's lap and shoving the Yamper within it aside.

[break][break] "How's it going?"

[break][break] He smiles, hands in his pockets, as he approaches her, emerald eyes looking fondly upon the elite ranger.

[break][break] He knows that these are less than ideal conditions for their reunion — but one reunion is better than nothing.

Ollie is like a bright spot in a dark and cloudy afternoon. If the rain comes, he's like a sunshower that follows it. He was inspirational, and the fact he's the Head Ranger is no less understandable. If annalise henderson can do it, so can he.[break][break]

When she says her name, she gives back a weak smile. "Ollie!"[break][break]

With the Pikachu that raced towards her, she feels the Pikachu hop to her lap, as Lucky is pushed aside. And in moments, Lucky crawls back, pushing his cheek against the Pikachu. The electric mouse and dog would begin to spark electricity. Lucky didn't want to be deprived of his person.[break][break]

"I was told you've be coming," she starts, turning towards the window. "Sorry you had to spend your time coming to see me like this. I'm glad you came!" Her eyes look exhausted. Like she's not getting enough sleep, and it's clear why. The screams of the God of the Sea continue to weigh her down in fear.[break][break]

She'd be back on the field in no time.

"Sorry?" Ollie blinked, then let out a laugh. "Don't be sorry! This is the fun part about my job."

[break][break] There was no doubting the pride that Ollie had for his Rangers.

[break][break] He hated the paperwork. He hated being stuck behind a desk.

[break][break] But the recent days and weeks had also taught him that there was a lot worse that could happen then a mountain of paperwork.

[break][break] Glancing at Tofu, who was having a mini-fight with Genny's Yamper, the Head Ranger reached over to pull them apart. "Hey, hey, no fighting!" He smiled at Lucky too, scratching the pokemon behind the ears.

[break][break] He frowned, looking down at her.

[break][break] "You took quite a beating, huh?"

Fun part? The fun part was this: seeing Tofu and Lucky definitely having their mini-fight of who deserved pets more. When Ollie came to pull them apart, Lucky would slobber over Ollie's hand at the pet, twisting around for just enough. He might notice the hindlegs missing, and a pair of clackety wheels on the end table.[break][break]

It's in his questions after, that stops her in her tracks. He frowned and looked down at her, and her eyes can't meet his.[break][break]

"Not... so good," she laments, hands together. The talk with paxton concordas left her exhausted, realizing something about herself she didn't like; a development inside of herself. She doesn't know when it started. The Megalopolan Ship? No, that's where it cemented. This started back in the dog mission. Galar.[break][break]

A hero complex.[break][break]

A fire inside of her that burned, currently embers due to the Lord of the Ocean. But not gone out.[break][break]

"But I'll be back out there in no time." she flexes her arm out. No one would keep her down.[break][break]

No one except the man in front of her now.

His hand is heavy... perhaps heavier than it ever felt. His words are sweet, filled with warmth, but she feels colder with each one. She wants to fire back, but instead, it just leaves her with what she knew.[break][break]

Ollie was sweet, and he wouldn't let her burn for Hoenn. In a way, that was the worst thing he could be. No argument like how she snapped at paxton concordas, instead it's met with open arms, a call to relax, and to hold fast. It's met with a hand in hers. The tears start coming, and they don't stop coming. She looks towards the window.[break][break]

You can't save anyone without saving yourself first.[break][break]

A crack in the dream. The vision she saw. The Martyr Genevieve Cromwell burns in that firey wasteland of Hoenn, where Rocket falls, and the League finally wins. She shakes it off.[break][break]

"But if I wait... and someone else dies," How much was one life worth, really? More than anything. "I will never forgive myself. I can't just... sit here, doing nothing. Ollie. Please, I can get better," she pleads, but the whimper in her tone already accepted what Ollie is likely to ask. She doesn't believe it.[break][break]

Because Paxton was right.

[break][break] It was ironic, considering how very willing Ollie himself was to throw himself in front of danger for the people he loved. How many times had he dove head-first into disaster, for people like annalise henderson, people like GIDEON GRAVES.

[break][break] "You can get better, but in order to do that, you have to rest first. You can't just go jumping in when you're injured or tired or lacking sleep, Gen. You know better than that. I know Pax and I trained you better than that."

[break][break] "Plus, Isaac would never forgive me, y'know, if I let somethin' happen to you."

[break][break] "You want me to live with that?"

[break][break] It was a joke, albeit not a very good one.

[break][break] After a pause, he adds, "You once told me that you looked up to people like annalise henderson, right? You want to be like her? Well. Anna took a break after she was rescued. She knew better than to jump into the frontlines."
