Each insult only solidified one thing for Roy; that he was winning. If his words could get under the grunt’s skin, then he knew he was doing something right. There was a certain satisfaction in taking down Team Rocket, and Roy felt it keenly. The grunt recalled his defeated Metagross and threw out another Poke Ball, summoning an Archeops to the field. Like its predecessor, the fossil Pokémon was shackled in toxic chains, and without hesitation, it used its power over rock to summon a storm of stones at Balmung. However, the Charizard was quick to retaliate, enveloping itself once more in a brilliant cerulean blaze as it launched forward in a fiery rush. Yet just as it reached its opponent, something went wrong. Unbeknownst to Roy, Balmung had been poisoned all along. The charizard’s fierce battle spirit had masked the symptoms, but now the toll was too great. The strain from Belly Drum, the recoil from Flare Blitz, and the toxic terrain had all taken their toll, draining the dragon’s strength. Balmung could no longer regain his composure. Whether or not the attack connected didn’t matter as this was the Charizard’s last move. As the blue flames faded from his maw, Balmung’s body gave out, and he collapsed to the ground, sliding in a cloud of dust. "Balmung?"
