There's relief washing over Fenelle's face as they recognise the other signing. They fumble the notebook away, almost dropping the pen in their haste, before taking a deep breath. They shake their head then im remembrance of the question asked, before ... calm down, calm down.

No, my group - we got ambushed. We were told to evacuate- Their signs start out being incredibly fast, almost inintelligble so, before they remember to slow down, that there's some time still, that surely- I barely got away, please they're-

They freeze as seemingly, horrors flash before their eyes before they focus on the ranger captain in front of them. A sight for sore eyes, and a soothing one for a restless mind in a state of panic. Still, the shaking of their body couldn't be stopped just yet. They're in this direction- They gesture back to where they came from, a path that leads through a patch of light wood. Their hands twitch in apparent distress, as if there's another thing weighing on their soul.

(Remember. You thought a shortcut would be good, Fenelle thinks to demself, and it's not even too far off from the main path ... Admittedly, the setup is dangerously close to cliché if they had picked a patch of forest that's dark and slightly spooky, but that would've definitely been too much.)

Fenelle almost feels bad, given the kindness the ranger captain shows dem. It shows slightly in the look of surprise as the other actually readily offers a seat on her Ninetales which could be both dangerous and of advantage ... It could all just end here. A quick and dirty ambush, but ... Fenelle decides against that. Following the plan, dee tries to reason as dee accepts the help to hop onto the Ninetales after Airi, before they would embark towards the direction where "dee has lost der friends". It's quite admirable, how much naivety one can allow for themself.

Dee can't allow another moment of weakness like at Mossdeep.

So dee simply shakes like a leaf in concern, occasionally guiding Airi as they approach the location. Der Bronzong has moved location, too, always keeping close enough to keep a signature reading to alert the other grunts. For a moment, it's at least grunts. The desire for a fairer fight, perhaps, the chance for the storybook to result in something ...

As soon as the forest trees cover and block most of the light, dee shifts demself mentally, too. Like entering the haunted forest after frolicking and basking underneath the cheery sun, der grip becomes tight before it disappears. Out of the thicket, two Rocket-uniformed people appear on the little bit of clearing amidst the forest as Fenelle is lifted away by der Grimmsnarl's hair. And der own hair matches the pokémon's green face quite a lot ...

As dee is pulled away from the golden fox, der expression is first one of horror, before it comes to match the Grimmsnarl's visage underneath the shady tree crowns.

There's another role to play.

Now that Fenelle's in the shadows, dee takes out der Rotom wristwatch again, being able to get a live feed on what's spoken as well as being able to communicate with the two grunts under der "command" so to speak. They do not actually need a command for this first step, however, as Fenelle shrouds demself in the shadow for now, biding der time ... until it might be time to fully reveal, since dee doesn't think Airi actually realised just now.

"Your surrender," is the reply of one of the grunts, a calculating looking man that goes for a pokéball at the Ninetales' aggression. The androgynous person next to him doesn't hesitate, either, also taking out a pokéball.

"Though we don't figure it'll be easy."

The duo calls for pokémon that Fenelle actually trained - with Fenelle holding onto the trump cards in this battle once dee would find a moment to complete the ambush. For now, the duo uses der Bronzong and Swampert while the other four remain in Fenelle's hand. A beast ball that seems to shimmer red with fire from within, a simple yet often-used pokéball for a Grimmsnarl ... an actually polished though slightly slimy pokéball that belongs to der Hisuian Goodra, maintained by himself, and Rotom ... a ball that is dusty with lack of use since it's always out somehow.

Immediately upon release, Bronzong goes for a Rain Dance to weaken the other's fire type, while Swampert immediately charges onward with Water Gun, aiming to hit the Ninetales square in the face.

Unlike Fenelle, the Grimmsnarl knows how to move quietly, stealthily. By using all of his hair meticulously, he manages to shift their position slightly in the underbrush, allow them to have a better view of the entire fight that's going on in front of them. There's four pokémon remaining with dem while two fight at the forefront. Dee's pondering the next steps as the first attacks are exchanged - instead of the Ninetales, a Swampert is hit. The fire type retreats to Airi's side, and an Absol enters the stage.

Both of Airi's attack land, but the "Grunts'" pokémon are tough, too and manage to tank at least this one.

Fenelle ponders, and eventually nods as dee taps der Rotom to get out of the wristwatch. Momentarily cut off from der "ears", dee still trusts Grimmsnarl and Rotom. A quick few signs to instruct dem before they strike, as the fight on the forefront continues on.

Though that fight might not last for long, likely, though the Swampert roars, turning her attention towards the Absol to hit it with Water Gun in the rain. The Bronzong's barely floating after the Night Slash, though it persists enough to use Extrasensory on the Swampert.

The grunts, at least, look thoroughly scared by that turn of events, not having expected to be taken down so quickly - but there's an expression of relief as they seem to look at something past Airi. Fenelle's out of sight for now, though holding a strand of the Grimmsnarl's hair as another strand does its best to catch the attention of the Ninetales - and then to Swagger him, increase his attack and similiarly confuse him. Through the hair, light also shines briefly as the Grimmsnarl Mega evolves.

From the side, Thunder Shock from a Rotom fills the air with crackling electricity, continuously as the Rotom keeps at it, sending the attack through every raindrop to damage and paralyse hopefully, though it also hits allies in the same turn. (And well, the Swamperts are unmoved by it.)

Fenelle's Swampert and Bronzong go down with the Earthquake of the other Swampert. Fenelle doesn't realise what Airi's saying, given that dee has given up both of der supporting communication help. If this had been Metagross ... dee thinks for a moment, before shaking der head. They need to get a grip on.

At least on Mega-Grimmsnarl's front, the attack with Swagger is successful, and the Rocket grunts flee, leaving an empty space for Airi to face another ... at this point, the suspicion is clear, so Fenelle steps closer. Green hair that matches the Grimmsnarl's as dee takes a stand besides him, just as the Rain also clears up.

The Mega-Grimmsnarl can't fully dodge the Liquidation attack, nor can Rotom fully evade Night Slash. But even as these two start becoming more badly hurt, the expression on der face is the same frown, a stark contrast to the helpless, panicking young lad from before.

The battle's not over, as dee throws out more pokémon onto the field - a Blacephalon appears, as well as a Hisuian Goodra that immediately takes position close to Fenelle. The Blacephalon regards its opponents without a face, but still mocking somehow - before it leaps into attack immediately, throwing his head as a bomb for Mind Blown, mostly aimed at the Absol. Mega-Grimmsnarl also moves to use Stomping Tantrum on the Swampert, while Rotom aims a Confuse Ray at the very same.

The Hisuian Goodra also prepares to battle, but a strand of hair holds it back. Noises that Fenelle is unaware of, though der pokémon are aware. The sounds of a League patrol, even if there shouldn't be one scheduled going to this area ... the fight has been too noticeable, or maybe Airi called for back-up (though Fenelle deems that unlikely). Either way, an extremely confused Fenelle is suddenly lifted up by der Hisuian Goodra that starts booking it, with the others bringing up the rear as they defend for any possible follow-up attacks.
