Bass Boost was a terrifying sight in combat. She would routinely slam her front feet into the ground once the bumps on her arms were humming. It was enough seismic force to knock almost anyone off their feet. "And not just the big ones either. Could you imagine sitting between a Celebi's wings?" she asked, knowing just how impossible it would be due to the time-traveler's small size. "Maybe in the spring when the weather warms up, we can go. There's lots to do there, and I haven't heard from Joy since I last went there. Wonder if the park got new management."

It tracked that Miyako would have questions about the unusual Zeraora... and that she would be attracted to the thundercat's extreme speed. From what little they had known one another, she surmised that the officer could handle that kind of speed better than she could. "Oh, that's Savanna, the Zeraora I won from getting fourth place at the Vital City Tournament in January," she explained. "A significant number of them are more comfortable running on all fours. She's a bit fast for me to ride routinely. I tried to see if Josh Devlin would be interested in another, but he said two is enough for his Gym." Catching sight of Shalin, the feline zipped toward the duo and stopped to let out a prideful and enthusiastic roar. It wasn't as loud as a Pyroar's, but it was still more than enough to grab attention from her other Pokémon. Unlike many of Shalin's Pokémon, this Zeraora wore a cocoon saddle meant for flying Pokémon.

"Sounds like a great idea to me!" Shalin cheered, making a note to mark her calendar for the day they agreed upon. The Captain had brought several of her Pokémon there for a Sygna Suit demonstration much like the one she had given Miyako. The abilities it gave her dazzled those who weren't afraid of the loud noise, watching in awe as Shalin held onto the wing of her Flygon and disappeared into a blur when she performed at the carnival.

Shalin noticed Miyako's eyes wouldn't leave Savanna's empty saddle, sensing her desire to mount the fastest land Pokémon she had. "Yeah, quite a few of them from the Vital City Tournament were like that. They're just... built differently. I don't work with Savanna as much as I'd like. She's just... too fast for me. Otherwise I would have challenged Josh's Gym with her a long time ago. It's... the one thing my suit doesn't help me ride, and that's Pokémon with high sustained speed. I wouldn't be able to hop on her with you, but if you want a run with her, you're more than welcome to. Just... be careful with her. It feels like you're riding lightning itself when she's at speed. It's... paralyzing."

For however hard Jiwari could buck, Savanna could run just as fast. The Captain looked genuinely worried. "No, I'm serious," Shalin reiterated. "If you're not still feeling fully well, be really careful with her. I just don't want you getting hurt." When Miyako gave the thundercat a pet, Savanna loosed a mighty purr that caused her fur to stand on end, rocking and rattling her guest rider like a motorcycle on full tilt.

Were the Zeraora to feel Miyako's hands holding her reins, she would start off with a slow-paced run by her standards. The wind would still howl in Miyako's ears, giving her an idea of just what she was capable of if she actually tried. Shalin whistled for Volt, her Shiny Jolteon, and hopped on to try to keep up with the mythical Pokémon. If Miyako was feeling confident (and reckless), though, the Captain wouldn't be able to keep up...

Most of Shalin's Pokémon were trained for extreme agility, not for raw speed. Savanna was one of the few that was. With the signal to go faster, the Zeraora bolted. "Careful, Miyako!" Shalin reached for her friend instinctively, but there was little she could do. Even if the Captain ran Volt ragged, there was no catching a Pokémon that fast.

As she continued to accelerate, Miyako would find controlling Savanna increasingly more challenging. Making even light turns seemed to require more strength than it did before. The electric-type seemed as stable as a mount could get while running faster than many birds could fly. The faster the Pokémon ran, the more harsh her bouncy gait would become; a saddle designed to reduce turbulence could only do so much.

Rather than continue to chase after her, Shalin reined Volt to a stop and simply watched the yellow feline tear across her Romping Grounds, whistling for as many of her Pokémon as possible to stay out of the brave officer's way. If she pushed Savanna to a Quick Attack, there would be no time for those Pokémon to react...

Though Savanna meant no ill will, there was no denying that the feline was one swift Pokémon, able to outrun even the fastest motorcycles known to the region. If Miyako Noguchi was confident enough to sit in her saddle and control her, she was confident enough to trust Miyako. That trust was what convinced Savanna to unleash her full speed upon the cop -- far faster than Shalin had ever ridden.

Perhaps Savanna had found Miyako's breaking point, her rider begging for her to stop. And stop she did, fully extending her claws and slamming on the brakes. She tore into the dirt and grass beneath her, creating a trail of burned grass both from her electric nature and her extremely high speed she had to suddenly shed.

The deceleration let Shalin and her Jolteon catch up, the Captain worried about her new friend. "Arceus almighty, are you okay? I didn't even know she could run that fast! I'm so sorry!" she apologized, feeling Volt's heartbeat from how long she had to run just to meet them.

Shalin, likewise, was relieved that Miyako was okay, just badly shaken up. She knew Savanna was fast. She had seen Josh's reach even greater speeds before. She had trained with Thomas Benoit to be able to withstand higher speeds without becoming dizzy... and after seeing the yellow blur that Savanna and Miyako had become, she knew just how far she had to go. As a token of appreciation for the kind words, Savanna inhaled deeply before sounding the mightiest purr she could muster before letting the girl dismount.

Sensing weakness in Miyako, both in her voice and the way she moved, Shalin slid down from Volt's back and leaned against one of the trees the Zeraora had avoided crashing into. "You're such a talented rider," the Captain complimented her. "What made you want to be an officer instead of a Ranger with skills like that?" As the sun slowly crawled lower above the western sky, two more of Shalin's Pokémon hopped and crawled by: Keimi, a Greninja, and Savra, a Salazzle. The water-type hopped around like a traditional frog rather than a biped, and both looked like they had ferried Shalin around Hoenn many times before.
