So far as tensions between Team Rocket and the League increased, he had avoided involvement in the WAR. However, with the way things were going, he was sure he wouldn’t be able to avoid involvement for too much longer. He had a tendency to be sucked into things he didn’t care for after that.

With everything that was going on lately on his mind, he had decided he needed to prepare himself. That involved putting himself through different stuff, and that would improve him both physically and mentally, though some might disagree with the latter.

His physical condition was actually already pretty good. Exercising was something he had always taken pleasure in, so that wasn’t too big of a problem. Neither was physical strength ether, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t room for improvement. There was always room for improvement, which was why he had made his way to Mauville, where he had learned of an obstacle course that had been set up; the problem was that it seemed to be an obstacle course that required teamwork to complete.

Despite being a ranger, he wasn’t the best at teamwork. At most, he tolerated it. Resisting the urge to sigh, he pulled out his phone and sent out a request for someone who could help him with a bit of a training exercise. Since he was unsure what any of his friends were doing, he posted the message somewhere just anyone would see it; hopefully it wouldn’t be anyone who would mean him harm.[break]

The blonde often volunteered for combat training. Sometimes this meant teaching people self defense at library courses. Other times, she was paid to help rangers defend themselves. Unfortunately, her injuries stopped these tasks from becoming full-time work. Apparently, it was fine to get blown to pieces on the battlefield. But off of it, she was sentenced to a bubble.

As an officer, she’d whipped dozens of soldiers into a shape resembling competence. This included not only actual sparring but obstacle courses and grueling physical tests. Today, Lydia was sitting on the couch. Sootopolis had aggravated her problems. In front of her, a Hallmark movie played. Her Lycanroc—exhausted by her fight against the waves—was similarly deposed. Though she quite enjoyed country romances, the veteran found her mind wandering.

Scenes from Sootopolis played incessantly in her head. She pondered what she could have done better to prevent this strange stalemate. Having to leave the city to Rocket—those rotten bastards—churned her stomach.

When Ever’s post went out, her hand was quick to snap up her phone. Almost immediately, she took the job. A time was set and it was time to wipe away the dust of inactivity. Bright pajama pants were swapped for fatigues. Injured shoulders were evident beneath the lines of her tanktop. “Come on, Minerva.” The wolf’s faux sleep ends as she dives off to the floor. The romance star’s proposal is heard as the door slams shut.

Lydia arrives when and where indicated. The obstacle course is nothing special; simply a variation of what she’s ran a hundred times before. “Bonjour.” The woman’s eyes look Ever over. “I take it you are Mister Blackwell?”
