Through the virtual environment of the RKS Simulation, one of Shalin's favorite experiences was being a Gym Leader. Since DEREK HOFFMAN 's departure, Petalburg's Gym remained empty. She at one point debated stepping down from her Captain position to take over the Gym, but the preliminary combat test was too much for her. After hearing about the entrepreneurship skills that helped to be a particularly successful Gym Leader, Josh Devlin and FERNANDO SILPH coming to mind, it would be but a fantasy she could live within the simulated universe.

Organized on a table and wardrobe near the entrance to the Leader's grassland-surrounded lake aesthetically similar to her Romping Grounds was a wide variety of energy-emitting objects: Mega Accessories, Z-Charms, a Dynamax Band, a Tera Orb, and even a replica of the Sygna Suit Shalin wore. Her Gym was all about educating challengers about all the ways trainers can help fight alongside their Pokémon without directly being in combat with one another.

All of a sudden, a pair of sliding doors would open, heralding her first challenger of the day. The challenger would get to see a variety of saddled Pokémon, many unusual for the task. The most eye-opening ones were a Beedrill and a Kommo-o waving toward the guest in greeting.
