The cups are set, and the door is locked. Though, it was so late in the day he doubted anybody would come looking for them. Paxton had cleared off his desk, making space for the silly, magnemite coasters he set out. The electric kettle was steaming and his cup already had a little bag of tea steeping on top of a blob of still melting honey at the bottom.

Paxton sits at his desk, opening a drawer to pull out a tin of butter cookies. It was opened and half picked through, but he only really had it for guests anyway. Or times like these. "Are you're aware, PENELOPE LIVY's out right now as they hold their AQUA V meeting." he began, knowing the woman would be quick to settle in and add to the little array on the desk. "I'd gotten some news from my last meeting with the Commissioner pertaining to that and had been waiting for today before I really talked about it."

Daphnée had been working diligently on catching up on the overflow of work that was beginning to grow out of control. With the A.Q.U.A. meeting underway, Daphnée had been a touch busier than usual. That was probably due to PENELOPE LIVY assigning her more and more tasks but she was sure it also had to do with the speed in which the war was developing.

[break][break] She'd just been about to take a short coffee break when Paxton caught her gaze. They didn't need words to convey the message between the two. Within seconds a wide grin stretched across the Kalosian's face as she practically yanked open her desk drawers to dig through her snack assortments.

[break][break] Good thing she had recent restocked on everything too.

[break][break] With her arms filled to the brim, she practically skipped into his office as he swiftly locked the door behind her. She quickly unloaded everything in arms, unsure of what he would rather go for first. She was practically a walking convenience store. Daphnée had everything from chips and candy to tiny cakes & muffins.

[break][break] After her hands were free, Daphnée shuffled around in her clothes for a second before fishing out a mental flask with a tiny smirk playing on her lips. She slid it on the table to Paxton with a knowing glance before she proceeded to get comfortable in the chair across from him.

[break][break] Amber hues glanced up to focus on Paxton as he spoke, meanwhile she reached for a bag of chips. It took a second to maneuver with her acrylic nails, but she finally got the bag open and she popped a chip in her mouth with a soft hum. "Right, PENELOPE LIVY's got me working twice as much because of the meeting." she said with a short nod.

[break][break] "So..." she said as she popped another chip in her mouth before turning the bag to Paxton. "Lay it on me, babe." she said with a grin. "What's the 'sitch?"

Daphnee settles in and he eagerly douses his mug with whatever is in the woman's flask. He plucks a bag of chips form the pile, carefully unclipping and unrolling it to dump a bit of it on a napkin for himself to pick at. They'd done this enough times it was routine, most obvious by not just the amount of snacks but by how many bags and boxes were half eaten through. He liked to give Daphnee gift cards, his contribution to the snack hoard considering how much of it he enjoyed.

As he passes the flask back he nodded along to her. "She's certainly keeping me busy. Can't catch a break lately ever since that War council started up." he said throwing a handful of orange chips into his mouth and passing it with a quick gulp of his spiked tea.

"Remember that meeting I had with the commissioner? Huge PROJECT SAPPHIRE presentation and all." he said. She had as much access to his schedule as Penelope's, if only to coordinate these little sit downs. "After discussing some developments after the Sootopolis and Petalburg raids, she let me know SAPPHIRE's funding would stay steady." he explained before clearing another handful of chips.

"That I shared, but I was also offered something else." he said, pointedly. "I kept it quiet until the AQUA meeting." he continued. "At the end of it, dahlia goode is supposed to announce newer members of AQUA and she named me as one of them." he revealed. "That's what I've been hiding."
