Gavin yawns as he stumbles down the basement stairs in an exhausted haze. Along one wall, illuminated by artificial sunlight, the scientist's hydroponic setup rests: berry trees and bushes flourish, and at the end, a swaying cactus—[break][break]
Rubbing at tired eyes, Gavin blinks. He did not have any cacti.[break][break]
"How did you get in here? Clever bastard."[break][break]
Such ingenuity attracts Gavin to the creature. Perhaps it could be of use as more than an unfortunate test subject, a victim of circumstance. Though it would certainly be intriguing to study the effects of Ultra Beast poison on a Pokemon more akin to plants than his Sandslash or Lugia, it was not a priority. He brushes aside the thought, whistles softly. Long canine claws click softly upstairs as his Lycanroc jumps from its spot on the end of the bed to answer his summons.[break][break]
"No fire," he says, sternly. "I don't want it spreading."[break][break]
The werewolf's red eyes reflect the artificial lights as it grins with slavering jaws and lunges. Gavin winces sympathetically as its spiky shield leaves needles in the Lycanroc's gums. He'll be picking those out for a while. The pain seems only to encourage the canine, and it isn't long before the Maractus slumps against the pot in which it had disguised itself.[break][break]
Pulling out a pokeball, Gavin shakes his head as he tosses it.
