between the choice of words and his tone, she stays quiet. only a nod of understanding follows and really, she wants to ask questions, wants to satisfy her curious nature. she doesn't however, as if only to be polite and not subject every single person to her onslaught of questions. it's difficult to hold her tongue but somehow she manages. he makes a sound of understanding at her explanation. the way it sounds almost makes her feel like he gets how she is, how she exists. it's an oddity to not be the battling type in this world, something she isn't exactly proud of. her softness doesn't feel like a gift, merely a burden. and yet, with his single sound, she somehow feels better about this lifestyle choice of hers. not everyone needs to be a battler. silently, she praises him for not prying or mocking, eyes glancing toward him with appreciation. ah, so he shares the same mentality as her? it puts her at ease to hear the words come from his mouth, echoing the very same principles she bases herself off of. pokemon aren't tools. they don't only exist to be used by humans, this much she's certain of. and so, the smile she flashes him is bright. "i agree," she murmurs. "they're much more than objects to be used by humans." once the words leave her mouth, she falls silent once more. he begins to engage one of the newcomers, taking on the shuckle with his comfey and the new one he had just acquired. interest picks at her brain and she observes quietly, trying her best to not cast her judgement on his different form of capture. to each their own, right? she must remind herself of this as dark eyes never stray from the ensuing battle. the shuckle withdraws and is soon sucked into a pokeball, capture confirming a few seconds later. in this time, she glances toward him, his words earning a little giggle from the woman. "this is true," she pauses, matching his smile with one of her own. "there's people in the world, however, that don't share that same notion." it causes her to think for a moment, mind drifting toward her parents without hesitation. she had been a pawn for them once, a piece on a chessboard where the only goals were money and domination. just thinking about it makes her a little nauseous and just when she's about to push the thoughts away, a welcome distraction comes along to do it for her. two more pokemon filter into the area, both passing curious glances toward the duo. she returns the glances with a gentle smile yet leaves them be, more interested in seeing where this conversation is going. "i suppose it all depends on the person in the end, right?" good, bad, indifferent. each one has a different view on life, a different outlook on the people and creatures around them. some would scoff at her while others, like this man, would echo her own ideals. it's curious to think about, really, and so she loses herself in her thoughts for a moment, eyes traveling down to look at her feet.
