Oldale was usually a still, quiet town. Josh had been surprised to find the town so... Relaxing. He might just need to take the kids here, he decided. Or was he thinking of Dewford? He'd need to consult a map to make sure he wasn't getting the names and associated memories mixed up...

Either way, it seemed that where Josh went, trouble was always close behind. He and his Raichu had found themselves in Oldale Town when he had noticed a posting about the Dragon Types that were rampaging nearby. They were hiring out for someone to take care of them, it looked like too. Curious, why would wild Pokemon suddenly start acting out like that, and in a more rural area at that?

Could it be...?

Deciding it best to investigate, he had volunteered his services without hesitation and had begun the trek to their last sighting, with no delay.

When he first read the report he thought it was incredulous, chalking it up as a drunk person’s delirium. Regardless, he was obligated to investigate and he wouldn't be alone.

Awaiting the arrival of his would-be companion, he'd gone ahead, the residents of Oldale hiding away from the rampaging dragons that lingered in the area. He didn't mind this though. It meant less work and less potential casualties he'd have to worry about. Still, doubt clouded his mind. The thought of giant pokemon seeming so impossible. His ears twitched to the sound of footsteps coming closer towards him and they sounded nothing like those belonging to a giant.

His gaze turned towards the sound of rustling feet staring directly into the blonde man and his giant rat. Looking at the man, he assumes that he's the one volunteering to investigate further. Paying little attention to the man, he continues to scan the area.

They didn't have to go far in order to find out what was causing the problems. As if on cue, the Hyper Voice that resounded through the area would cause Josh to reflexively cover his ears. Lightning took a little damage in turn, covering his sensitive ears in turn as Josh cupped his forearms downward to help Lightning negate a bit of the damage. But they didn't have much time to recover though -- the thing was heading straight for them, and it was heading straight for them mouth-first.

Josh acted quickly, clicking the button on one of the Pokeballs on his belt to bring out the right Pokemon for the situation -- a Swampert with a very, very blank stare. "Protect!" Josh called to Dunamus, and the Swampert would bring up a protective barrier that stopped the enemy in its tracks. He looked to the man nearby that he assumed to be here to help.

"If you're here to stop this thing, this might be a good time."

His legs crumple for a moment at the sound of a deafening roar, the grounds shaking violently as a result of the almost earth breaking cry. Looking at the source, his eyes widened in shock and bewilderment - he couldn’t believe that the reports were actually accurate about a gargantuan pokemon. Without saying a single word, a Greninja leaps out from one of the nearby trees, flipping in the air to land in front of him. Its hands press against the ground causing it to sprout upwards as it bolsters the Swampert’s Protect with Mat Black, defending the group on a whole from the Hydreigon’s fierce attack.

The Greninja glances back towards his trainer and with a single nod, its cheeks suddenly puff to spew out a Smokescreen to give them better coverage. Hidden behind the smoke, Jiraiya leaps up from the smoke and onto one of the Hydreigon’s head. It swiftly and nimbly darts upwards onto one of necks, charging straight for the main head as water begins to form in one of its palms. With a single swipe, four Water Shuriken are suddenly flung out, striking the main head as it climbs its way upwards.

Josh would take that as a "I will help stop it" then. He didn't say anything to the man, there were more important things to bring up right now. So as the man's Greninja would climb onto one of the Hydreigon's heads, Josh saw an opening while it was distracted.

"Mud Bomb."

The Swampert would launch a Mud Bomb toward the Hydreigon, hitting it in the face and temporarily blinding one of its heads with mud. That would weaken it a little more, he hoped, and give this Greninja some time to take it down.

But Hydreigon wasn't going down without a fight.

The monster let out a loud Hyper Voice once more, enraged from the attacks. It would swiftly attack the Greninja with Outrage, with what heads weren't blinded trying to overwhelm the Greninja with attacks of its own at full power. Josh looked to Dunamus in turn, who was trying to recover from the second Hyper Voice.

"Mimic."

The Greninja’s movements become stiff for a brief moment as it’s clearly shaken by the loud Hyper Voice that rings out from the Hydreigon’s voice. Before it can properly react, the dragon manages to strike out at the shadowy frog causing it to nearly plummet down from the neck of one of its heads. Seeing Jiraiya in dire straights, the ranger lets loose another pokeball, summoning a pink corsola.

”Manami, Life Dew.” he commands bluntly to break his odd silence. The corsola is quick in its movements, spreading a bright glowing water from its body and onto the Swampert and Greninja bringing them some relief from the pain.

No longer wincing in pain, the Greninja continues to leap upwards as its body begins to Double - effectively creating clones of itself. With another flip, water begins to form from its hands as it throws another three Water Shuriken from its hands; this time the water coming from the clones to make it harder to detect where its real body is. The water stars whizz in the air and manage to land its mark onto one of the Hydreigon’s eyes causing it to roar loudly in pain.
