Lucas Lane wasn't sure how long it'd been since the apple war had started in those green hills. Weeks, months, maybe even years. He'd lost track already. There was so much cinnamon sugar on his hands from the lives he'd taken. A part of him deep down inside regretted it all, but orders were orders.[break][break]

Come hell or high water he'd bring his troops home.[break][break]

"Any sign of the wooloos yet?" Lucas calls out. When the war began many of their own had been captured by the enemies or lost in the chaos of it all.[break][break]

The farmer said they'd be back home by Christmas time, but Lucas wasn't so sure.

“Nope, nothing,” and Bailey Cooper reached towards an unconscious Appletun, peeling off the top, flaky crust of the pokemon to take a bite—she had skipped lunch in their rush to find the Wooloos.[break][break]

She bit into the confection, and it tasted delicious.[break][break]

“I feel like it's been fricken years,” and her Decidueye served as their scout, traveling through the use of Phantom Force in enemy territory.[break][break]

She watched the skies, waiting for her ghost flier to return to them.

Lucas' scout, Sherlock the wooloo, baas for his attention. "What is it boy?" He approaches wooloo to find it nudging a rose bush. Leaning down Lucas looks closely between the leaves and finds a piece of wool soaked with appletun's brown sugar saliva.[break][break]

"They have to be in this direction. Sherlock found some wooloo wool in a bush." Lucas looks around and spots another piece of wool up ahead on the ground. "And over there there's another piece. This has to be the right direction." Standing up the scientist follows the wool path into the beginnings of an apple tree orchard. [break][break]

They were in enemy territory now. Any of the apples could be spies lying in wait.

Sherlock the Wooloo had lead them this far.[break][break]

Bailey glanced in the direction of the clumps of wool, frowning at their mangled state. Poor sheep. Nature was a cruel, indifferent entity. “I think I saw Fidget fly off in this direction,” and she followed after the Wooloo and Lucas—hard to do, considering that the head scientist was still limping along.[break][break]

“If she's scouting the area, then she'll tell us if she finds anything.” Which was a godsend. Appletuns and their flying counterpart were more quiet than people anticipated them to be.[break][break]

They could easily sneak up on an unaware trainer—Bailey kept her eyes peeled, watching for signs of red or green shifting in the bushes.

"Hopefully they find something soon."[break][break]

As he wobbles through the apple orchard Lucas begins to see subtle movements from the corner of his eyes. Whenever he whips his head around though there's never anything there. It's always just an apple hanging from the tree.[break][break]

Up ahead Lucas makes out a single wooloo, its feet bound by grass knots. "Hey, over here" he calls out softly to Bailey. "I found one, but something seems off." As the words leave his mouth apples begin to fall one by one from the surrounding trees. Flapples fill the air and applins inch towards Lucas in single file lines from every direction.

The woods were silent.[break][break]

Somehow, that seemed to raise red flags as Bailey turned her eyes back to Lucas. Her gaze followed the beckoning of his hand, looking over his shoulder to the sight of the single wooloo. “Shhh,” and she would have rose a finger to her lips to shush his whispers, had the end of his sentence not doomed them all.[break][break]

It was bedlam. It was chaos. It was nonsensical. It was hogwash.[break][break]

Her blood curling scream cut through the forest, spurred by the sight of a appletun lunging for her poor ankles. She deftly side-stepped the creature, but not before a flapple collided into her face like an obnoxious bug.[break][break]

“Lucas! Do something!” The elite four member would shout, trying to bat away the assailant that kept getting in her face like a persistent bug-type.[break][break]

A stray arrow would smash into the invader—a spirit shackle.[break][break]

From the dark, her savior Fidget would sweep into the battlefield, engaging the fray of furious apples.
