Lucas knew that traversing the desert alone was too great a risk to take. Though the pokemon inhabiting it were like a sweet aroma of honey, irresistible. Determined not to fall to such entrapment he rode along the edge of the desert where sand mingles with the grass. Atop Copperajah Lucas patiently waits for a pokemon to cross his line of sight.

An hour has passed since he took @sigmund out of the desert. Resting atop the Corviknight, his cold gaze focuses downwards towards a man riding a large greenish elephant. Seeing him tread so closely between the border of route 111 and the raging desert sandstorm, the normally silent ranger pulls the large metallic raven downwards towards the pair. Hovering slightly over the two with its large flapping wings, Ken peers outwards from the side, calling out towards them.

"If you plan on heading into the desert, don't. The sandstorm seems worse than normal." he says with a bland tone.

Upon closer inspection, he can tell that the man has little intention of treading into the desert, instead busying himself by trying to find a pokemon nearby instead. Truthfully, he doesn't mind though. His self-awareness is certainly better than having to rescue another poor soul from the desert's grasp.

Lucas looks up towards the source of the voice. A hand shields his eyes from the sun overhead.[break][break]

"Don't plan on it" he yells back. "I've just been hunting some pokemon. Has anyone gotten hurt out there?" Lucas thought it somewhat odd that the ranger would approach him without reason. "If they did I can lend them my copperajah to help with the recovery efforts."

The Corviknight descends downwards, its flapping wings coming to a halt when its feet touches the ground. The ranger is quick to dismount, shaking his head towards the stranger. ”No, just a poor soul who got lost. I gave him a lift out and dropped him off in the town nearby. He’ll be fine.”

He watches the man carefully, pondering as to why he’d choose to tread the borders so dangerously just to catch a pokemon, but shrugs his shoulders as he shifts his gaze towards the grass as well. He can see a small plume of smoke puffing over the grass as a large turtle pokes its head upwards.

”Would you mind?” he asks, pulling out a Pokeball as he stares at the Torkoal.

"Well that's a relief" Lucas says as the copperajah trots ahead.[break][break]

"Yeah yeah go ahead. Plenty of pokemon around for the both of us." Gently patting the copperajah Lucas brings it to a stop. "You need any help taking it down? Might do a number on your corviknight." Lucas reaches for a pokeball on his belt. "It wouldn't be any trouble."

"It'll do quite a number on your Copperajah as well." he retorts, maintaining his bland tone. Snapping his finger, a Greninja emerges from the Corviknight's shadow, stepping in front of its trainer without passing a single glance at Lucas and his giant elephant. Instead it locks its gaze onto the turtle in the distance.

"Jiraiya." he calls out to it. Without any additional commands, the Greninja breaks off into a sideways sprint, water taking shape within its froggy paws. It swipes its arms out towards the Torkoal as the water quickly forms into rotating shuriken, striking the Torkoal before it even notices the attack. It recoils from the sudden force, falling onto its back. It wiggles its legs, trying to get back onto its feet. Seeing its misfortune, he's quick to throw the pokeball with precise aim, sucking the fiery turtle into the small ball-like container.

"Well copperajah is rock type, yeah? He should be plenty resilient to whatever torkoal throws at it." Although Lucas had managed to acquire one of the newly imported pokemon from Galar he wasn't knowledgeable about it. He skimmed what he deemed the less important details of the document package that accompanied it.[break][break]

"Though I did skim that part of the Galar importation documents."

”Is that so?” he replies, unconvinced by Lucas’s words. His gaze focuses back onto the Greninja who retrieves the Pokeball, bringing it back to him in the process. Reaching out, he grabs the Pokeball and hooks it against his belt and turns back to him. He’s obviously disinterested in the new Pokemon seen nearby. Eyeing the large elephant, he shrugs his shoulders, choosing to drop the matter instead.

When the next pokemon that strayed across their path goes unnoticed by the presumed Ranger Lucas reaches for a pokeball. He releases its contents, a shiftry. "Stay moving and keep a distance."[break][break]

Shiftry breaks out into a sprint, circling around the solrock. With a simultaneous wave of its arms it raises a miniature hurricane that sends the solrock spiraling. A leaf tornado follows closely behind. Dead leaves and sand are pulled into its clutches alongside the target. When the wind settles Lucas throws a pokeball.

There's an awkward silence between the two as he silently watches the man catch the Solrock. A brow arches upwards with his curiosity peaking slightly - especially when he sights two other Pokemon nearby. Seeing their figures come closer though, he's immediately disinterested and instead focuses his attention on the stranger again.

"I'm Ken." he curtly introduces himself, feeling that if he's going to linger around in the area, he might as well properly introduce himself.

As more pokemon begin to come out of the woodworks he releases kabutops to help deal with them. An ancient power heaves rocks out of the ground and sends them hurtling towards a Centiskorch. When it it attempts to shake off the rubble another pulse of ancient power unearths the very ground beneath its countless feet. Centiskorch finds itself nearly buried alive.[break][break]

Lucas tosses a pokeball.[break][break]

"Good to meet you Ken." He extends a hand towards the gym leader. "So you the ranger stationed around here?"
