[attr="class","spiral"] Fernando stares blankly at Annie's victory post but passes her a thumbs up emoji in chat out of pity and to break the awkwardness of their momentary pause. "If you're low don't be stingy. I have a few Potions and Super Potions on me." He doesn't offer them outright but the implication is there. "As long as we're quick and you don't waste them."

The sudden light perks his curiosity and he follows after Annie, maintaining his distance but close enough not to get picked off should they get separated. When the come across a jump quest, Fernando debates turning around completely. "Nope. Not at all." Was it worth going further at the cost of dying from fall damage. He's not sure but he looks to the stalactites above. Maybe he can dislodge some and create a few more pillars to increase their odds of passing safely.

[attr="class","athread"]Annie, on the other hand, didn’t join the game to have to think out her actions. “Only one thing to do, then!” Off she went, springing onto the first of many pillars. She very quickly learned that even in Ransei, she wasn’t safe from one of gaming’s biggest sins.

“Oh, are you kidding m- Ice physics are the worst!” Her feet slipped and slid towards the pillar’s edge. Wildly circling arms matched her movements in reality as she found her footing, just short of falling to her demise.

“Okay. I think I’ve got this,” she said between ragged breaths. She stood up straight, and leapt to a smaller platform. The pillars didn’t budge under her weight, which was one less problem for them to worry about. Judging by the girl’s struggle to keep still, it didn’t make up for the ice having a serious lack of friction. “These things are designed to be beaten, right? So if we’re careful and don’t fall to our deaths, it’ll be fine. Probably. Hopefully.”

[attr="class","spiral"] Fernando refrains from taking any actions. He'll observe and allow Annie to be the guinea pig. So when the little gal makes each jump with success, Fernando has little to worry about. With a crouching start, he lines the jump in his mind before launching himself forward.

And then he lands, slips, and falls.

Fernando crashes and so does his health bar. With a grunt, he rubs his head in pain, before pulling himself up. Welp. There goes that. While Annie continues to transverse the pillars, Fernando chugs a few Potions while making his way toward the end. A ladder sits allows him to climb back up but the damage is already done. He waits for his health to recover while he tries to keep pace.

She had the sense to restrain herself to giggles soon after, so that her mockery couldn’t send her sliding off the edge as well. “Sorry, sorry. Don’t worry, I’m sure if happens to everybody. Hey, I bet the melee classes have better footing!” One of those had to excuse his fall, she hoped.

Special passive or not, Annie managed to make her way across the puzzle, albeit not without difficulty. A pattern of jumping, slipping, scrambling for balance and letting out a sigh of relief carried her across the room. When the gunslinger scaled the ladder, he would find her waiting with a sympathetic smile. “We both survived, and now that you’ve fallen over you can’t back out! Never let yourself get beaten by inanimate objects!” Especially if it was a Honedge. Its time would come.

While his heath increases to regenerate due to his potion, he makes his way up the ladder to meet Annie at the end of their dungeon's current obstacle. He doesn't share her smile but that matters not. They've made it this far. Might as well claim what's rightfully theirs.

"Yeah, yeah. It's just a game anyways."

[attr="class","athread"]Her lips took a turn for the smug, but she stopped short of poking (more) fun at him. Until they were out of the cave, at least.

Their next challenge was a mere five steps outside of the room. A tunnel stretched out before them, its walls made of more translucent ice. This one, at least, served to let in light instead of surprise them. Holes no greater than three feet each peppered the walls, their purpose revealed as soon as the warrior stepped close. Glassy walls warned of a projectile shooting out, but it wasn’t until an ice-coated Spheal smacked her in the chest that she stepped out of harm’s way. The ball beast rolled on, seemingly unharmed, into a hole on the opposite side of the wall…

And then a Swinub fired itself out of another hole, soaring through the air on its way from east to west. An Alolan Sandslash belly-slid its way across the floor, sharpened claws warning against crossing it. Spheal and Bergmite shot across, aided by Ice Ball. Their numbers increased within seconds, until the room had fully revealed its challenge - dodging living cannonballs to cross. The clear walls were their only warning of when and where they would strike, if the players could keep up with their numbers.

“…You’ve gotta be kidding me.”

[attr="class","spiral"] Yup. That's it. That's the end of the line for them. When the games start to drift away from thinking and superior intellect, Fernando loses interest. Platform games make up the ones he detests the most and he strongly considers turning around and leaving the way he came. Except there's no way back up the drop they came from. Not unless he wants to jump his way past the pillars.

Fernando checks his health again along with his current experience. Tch. What a pain.

"If I die, I die."

He charges straight in and slides against the slick ice. Miraculously, nothing is able to hit him as he slides forward against his own will. The path dictates his actions and there's very little input for him until something strikes him. Consider it luck or compensation for the jump quest, but for now, Fernando continues unharmed.

[attr="class","athread"]“That’s the spirit! Death or glory!” Crouched legs charged her next move, and then she was off. Accelerock didn’t call for a target, just a direction, so as long as she cancelled the move before she slammed into a wall, all was well. In theory. In reality, she blitzed about halfway across before she was beaned by a flying Spheal. She hit the floor, but the momentum kept her sliding forward without regard for the danger. Half a dozen Sandshrew and Bergmite slammed and dug into her body.

She slowed to a halt, face down, at Fernando’s heat. Only her class ability saved her, Stamina making each super-effective attack hit less than the last. She remained motionless as ellipsis appeared above her head, warning the other player that she was in a menu. A few seconds later, Ultimeite lifted her head, pulled a potion out of hammerspace and necked the bottle with a ferocity unbefitting of a child. And then another.

She forced herself back onto her feet as the buff expired, visibly annoyed but still long way from death’s door. “…Death or glory,” she grumbled, a little less skip in her step as she led the way forward.

[attr="class","spiral"] The further they careen the more complex the timing becomes. Fernando's lucky streak comes to an abrupt end when a Castform bounces off his head and he takes a surprising amount of damage for how harmless the act seemed. Anticipating another one, Fernando draws his pistol and fire several basic auto attacks at the next series of projectiles and to his surprise, one of them gets bounced back.

"OI! You can deflect them with an attack."

Well not all of them but the less damage they take the better, right? Eventually, Fernando makes it to the exit and he's not in that bad of a shape. This time he only drinks a single HYPER POTION while he waits for Annie.

[attr="class","athread"]That was all she needed to hear. Dodging was a pain, but her sword rarely missed her target. The Pokemon were batted away with a swing of her sword as she ran the rest of the way through the tunnel, joining the man at the end without any further embarrassment. “Phew. Cool. Good job. No big deal. Now there’s just… that.” The tunnel connected to another chamber, much larger than before. How large was hard to tell, mostly because the floor was out of sight.

“I sense an arena. Or at least I hope for one, because damn these movement hazards.” For once she was right, as a few steps forward would confirm. There was about twelve feet’s difference between where the room began and where their path ended. If they were careful, they could peer down into a circular cavern, with no other exit, and a mammoth of a Pokemon sleeping at its centre. Any trainer worth their salt could make out a Mamoswine from above, and realise it was at least twice the size it was meant to be.

The moment the full party stood at the end of the path, it broke off, sending it and its passengers plummeting into the arena. Standing on the platform saved them from fall damage, but as the crash stirred the beast from its slumber, it was clear that there was only one way out.

The beast took a few seconds to awaken, but firing an early shot would end the grace period. “When things are looking rough, get behind me. King’s Shield’ll handle the worst of it, but I can’t keep that up forever.”

A Mamoswine is the last thing Fernando wants to go up against. Ground type Pokemon are the bane of his existence and without ZAP CANNON, his attack power drops significantly. He barely has time to swap his ammo type when the path breaks and they're sent plummeting. Fernando lands square on his ass and tries desperately to pick himself up to no avail. The ice makes footing near impossible and Fernando sneers in frustration.

With little choice, Fernando remains on his belly, pushing himself in the opposite direction of the Mamoswine and sliding off to safety. "Appreciate it," he claims before lining the perfect shot. He's not sure how much of a wind up the Mamoswine needs but once he feels that Annie is ready, he fires his CHATTER.

[attr="class","athread"]The sound blast was as good a way as any to give the boss a rude awakening. Its opening roar is equal parts enraged and confused, the latter further confirmed by a new addition to its status bar. A mouth opened wide fires a flurry of Mud Bombs, but Chatter’s after-effects stop the beast from aiming accurately.

The blobs were easy to dodge and weave by… Or would have been, if not for the ice. Twice she slipped into a projectile, and true to its title, the boss ate into her health bar. The girl tutted and slid to a relative halt, digging her blade into the floor. The rock it launched out was clearly mismatched from the rest of the scenery, an unmistakable Smack Down putting an early end to the beast’s attack.

She had its attention. Or at least, as much as it could give in its state.

[attr="class","spiral"] Fernando doesn't have to deal with any of that. As long as he remain behind Annie and slipping and sliding away, he remains out of the Mamoswine's viable range. The MUD BOMBS can hit him, yes, but by the time they're launched, he can anticipate them and slide further away. Fernando remains relatively safe and continues to slide against his belly while throwing an opportune AIR SLASH whenever it comes off cooldown.

[attr="class","athread"]Even a bamboozled boss could see when it was making no progress. It charged towards the duo, a tremor accompanying each step. Glowing tusks marked its intent to gore one of the fighters, but the warrior wouldn’t let it have its way. Annie impaled the floor with her sword, grabbing it with both hands so the attempt at stopping didn’t send her flying. The mammoth’s Double Hit should have sent her flying, but she was ready and waiting with a King’s Shield. Each blow introduced ATK DOWN to the enemy’s status bar.

“Don’t have to worry too much about getting hit now,” she called. As if to taunt her, it started charging its next move: Earthquake.

[attr="class","spiral"] The EARTHQUAKE causes the entire cavern to shake and neither of them are able to escape the deduction from their health pool. Thanks to Annie's KING'S SHIELD the damage is much less than it should be but the damage still proves formidable. Fernando grumbles something before summoning out his spirit.

A green fae appears behind him, tethered to his character as it floats around in a spiral of grandeur and flowing tassels. It points at the Mamoswine and from behind it comes a sudden rush of wind. Numerous AIR SLASHES look to cut into the boar's deep fur, FLINCHING it should rng prove generous.
