Gavin — or, more accurately, his avatar: manofsteal — exits the PvP arena in Pugilis with a smirk. While he normally frequented the dangerous wasteland of the player-killing kingdoms, he'd decided to try his hand at some good old sactioned PvP. There'd been a few losses, but he'd come out on top and had decided to quit while he was ahead.[break][break]

Besides, of the kiddie kingdoms where no one could sneak up and slaughter one another unawares, Pugilis was probably his favourite. The close-combat nature of many of the fighting-type mobs meant training was a delicate dance of knives and fists.[break][break]

He's not here to train today, though upon spotting another's campfire, he strides over.[break][break]

"Mind if I join?" He sits down next to it regardless. "Gotta recharge my PP."

This wasn't exactly her ideal place to set up camp, but it was going to have to do. Left behind by her makeshift party for the day, she didn't have the courage to go off and fight on her own or train and such like all these other gungho players. Beth was content with sitting by her little makeshift campfire and flick through the indexes and systems to try and figure out more about this game. [break][break]

Would it be smarter for her at this point in time to go out and do some grinding? Probably. [break][break]

Did she care enough about a video game to get that invested? No. [break][break]

This was stress relief from stupid patients during a stupid day, not her new life passion like some other players suddenly decided. Regardless, someone was approaching and she pulled her head out of menu hell to address them with a curious look. At his question, she glances around, before settling back on her log seat. [break][break]

"Go for it, I'm just organizing my inventory" she sighed and turned back to her menus. The name KillJoy was floating above her head. "If you need healing or something, I can help" she tacked on with a simple shrug - not sounding that enthusiastic about her class choice.

The girl's IGN seems to fit her lack of enthusiasm.[break][break]

"Healer, hm? I don't know many." It wasn't a common class among PvP players, coincidentally the crowd that Gavin found himself hanging around the most. "You don't seem too happy about it."[break][break]

Adjusting himself on the log bench, Gavin taps his controllers together and his avatar drops into an animation of sharpening his twin daggers. They gleam in the firelight, crusted with dried blood, and after a moment his avatar retrieves a cloth to clean the blades.[break][break]

"My health's pretty good but I could always use buffs if you've got access to any."

"Yeah, there's not many running around. Everyone just likes the hit it til it dies game play, I guess" she remarked, shrugging at his observation about the number of Healers drifting about. It was like she signed up for baby sitting sometimes. "It's alright, I just got yelled at by some players earlier for not healing fast enough when he decided to stand in fire. My bad." Her tone was dripping with sarcasm, before she took up her staff again. [break][break]

"Buff wise... I got like... A shield that prevents status effects?" she looked over to him at that, before pausing. Hadn't she seen that mug of his before? Well, it was a virtual reality game with character creation. She didn't have bunny ears or look like some generic casino bunny girl in real life. Still, the question lingered in her mind. "... You base your avatar off of someone, by chance uh... Manofste--" she paused as she found herself caught off guard by his username. [break][break]

Was that a pun? Or did he not know how to spell steel?

"Must be really easy to queue up for dungeons, though." As DPS-and-debuff focused class that was quite popular in the game, he often found himself waiting quite a while to get matched for a party when he chose to play pubs. "Honestly, sounds like that guy had it coming."[break][break]

Though Gavin could get invested in a good PvP match such as to feel genuine ire when he was outmatched, he didn't see the point of screaming abuse at others, especially not the healers.[break][break]

"Useful in a fight, but not so much here. No big, though."[break][break]

He flicks a dismissive hand, scoffs a laugh when the motion of his wrist makes his character throw the dagger he'd previously been cleaning. Oops. A button is pressed and the dagger soars back to his hand like magic.[break][break]

His laugh is sharp with surprise. "Y'know, because rogues tend to steal things. It's a pun. I based my avatar off myself. Why? Do we know each other?"

At his dismissal of the offer, KillJoy simply set her staff back down. However, while putting her staff down, she was spooked a dagger suddenly flying by. Her head snapped around to watch it just fly off, before she realized what had happened. Alright, probably just a misclick or something? Whatever it was, a snort slipped out of her at the sight of it, with her head following the knife like someone watching a tennis game. She ended up looking right back at him as he went on.
