It's Marcel's idea to spend a relaxing afternoon in the hot springs. He insisted, or more accurately probably simply informed, politely that it was a popular area in the game and you could get an achievement just from being there. Or something along those lines.[break][break]

Frankly speaking, Emma was more inclined to continue fighting things and making them explode with her fists because it was a real stress reliever from her everyday life - but visiting Marcel had a similar effect regardless.[break][break]

So she had agreed with some degree of muted enthusiasm. The heat and the steam from the baths was intense, however, and she felt the need to be sarcastic.[break][break]

"Won't this be a hindrance to my.. avatar.. as you call it?"

[break][break]joking aside, he has to admit the thought hadn't crossed his mind. there hadn't been much consideration to his suggestion, outside of the aching of his limbs. the realism of these games really was both a blessing and a curse.

he looks at emma, only thinking better of it once it was too late. "i mean, you seem fine," he says as he shifts his gaze elsewhere--a matter of principal more than anything since, when he thought about it, neither of these bodies were their own.

"i guess we'll find out," he muses as he sinks lower into the water, probably not as concerned as he should have been, "let me know if you start short-circuiting" he wondered how far these game developers had gone into the physics of the game.

She hadn't really called herself anything. The game was still foreign to her, like an out-of-body experience. The term 'avatar' seemed just as bizarre to her, despite how blatantly realistic it was.[break][break]

But she obliges to his wishes and ideals because she can see that he needs this, that he had been looking forward to taking a load off.[break][break]

Emma blinks at his comment, taking a moment to glance down at her body. It occurs to her not long after that everyone else had changed their 'glamour', removing their layers of armor to leave behind only their avatar's underwear. [break][break]

It becomes abundantly clear that she doesn't know how to do that. So she merely follows Marcel into the bath. The water is immediately warm and she breathes a sigh of surprise.[break][break]

And then, instead of short-circuiting, the soft laughter of other players rises as they observe her, fully clothed, entering the baths. She was the odd one out, it seemed.

"never been in a hot spring before?" he manages to ask between laughs. then again, this was emma. he tries to tone down his amusement for the sake of his friend, his eyes twinkling with mirth under the cover of his mask. he hadn't quite manage to take that part of his clothing off, it was probably a permanent feature.

marcel presses on, "do you shower with your clothes on too?"

She's waded in ankle-deep when she hears Marcel's soft chuckle. Her head tilts to glance at him, perplexed as to what could possibly be so funny.[break][break]

But it appears that she's the odd one out, still wearing her armor. One glance around the facility indicates that everyone else has dressed down to their avatar's underwear. Even Marcel had done the same, save for his mask.[break][break]

He asks her a question while stifling his amusement and she hesitates, more than a little prepared to turn around and exit the bath. If she had the capacity to be embarrassed, she likely would be, but she instead glances away.[break][break]

"I.. am confused. I was unaware you could change your appearance."
