[attr="class","athread"]Of all the kingdoms, Avia was the one that made Annie feel the least safe. The player-killing was one thing, but at least she could defend against that after the first strike. If a player summoned harsh winds, however, or decided to send her a flying kick to the face, she’d careen off a platform and fall damage would handle the rest.

She, like most other players in the area, was especially guarded, and it showed. She kept looking over her shoulder as she travelled, sword already drawn to defend against a griefer. Or a wild Pokemon. Whichever came first, really. A platform with a single rope bridge leading in or out became her stage for that day. There she waited, daring any bird that passed by to try their luck. The players were only given a cautious look.

[attr="class","spiral"] She's right to feel vulnerable in Avia. It's become a hotbed for PVP while opportune hunters track down those engaging in the infamous egg carrying task. Fernando finds his own income supplemented by the various players that try to complete the pilgrimage and business is booming.

Fortunately for Annie, Fernando recognizes her before he has the chance to attack her. He waves, smiles and all.

"Oi! What are you waiting for?" Sure the bridge looks unstable but he's crossed it without problems many times before.

[attr="class","athread"]She felt an odd sense of déjà vu as she spied a familiar face, and foes to match. Perhaps she’d been in Avia too long. Never one to let strange feelings stop her from sharing a smile, she returned the wave with one. “Hey Ai-Ai! I’m waiting for those!” Airborne enemies usually weren’t a problem, but with the kingdom’s stubborn lack of railings and their penchant for wind bursts, she decided not to take her chances.

One of the birds swooped towards her, its beak charged with a move she best knew from her Excadrill. It was a solid attempt, but its speed meant next to nothing in the face of her Accelerock. Her body slammed the super-effective attack into the bird, and once it had been grounded, a basic sword strike made sure it stayed that way. “When you don’t rely on ranged attacks, you’ve gotta choose your time to move in carefully!” Her tone was unchanged, even as she stated the obvious.

As if to demonstrate, Fernando lines up a shot and waits. The Fearow is impressive in the air but when it turns or approaches, its pathing allows him to land a clear shot. He pulls the trigger and his ZAP CANNON pierces a hole straight into its chest. When the pixel dissipate he stands there proud with his hand on his hips.

[attr="class","athread"]She opened her mouth to argue, but quickly decided that it wasn’t worth the effort. That, and the sight of Farfetch’d sparked frustration within her. Remnants of an especially annoying quest had nestled themselves in her head, and she charged without a second thought. A grounded bird renders the discussion moot, and two Breaking Swipes makes quick work of the mob. “Don’t need ranged attacks. I just need to be good and smart.” And have a few ranged attacks as backup, but he didn’t need to know that yet.
