if he skipped the first one, he'd skip the second one as well.

kyle collects his prize and looks for a third one.

eyes widen when the third one shows itself almost immediately as he ditched the last pokemon. he drops both of the rockruff he had kidnapped from the wild and finally contains them on pokeballs before they can run away from him.

"charlie, charlie. get him!" the mightyena starts to charge a hyper beam from its maw. kyle notices it and grasps its head and forcing the dark-type's head down. "gently," he adds before letting go.

the shiny rockruff notices the commotion and starts to run away with a head start. the mightyena's leaner build and longer legs allow it to catch up with ease, throwing itself and bowling over the smaller canine with its weight.

he pins it down. the rockruff tries to scramble away. fangs burst into flames as it tries to tear itself away from the mightyena's grasps, but a hyper beam forming on its mouth forces the wild pokemon to be intimidated by the show of power. it relinquishes to the superior dog and gives in.

"lol."

kyle throws a pokeball at the defeated rockruff before it gets the power of friendship and overpowers the mightyena with the sudden unexplained boost.

three dogs probably was more than enough. he was left with an extra ball to be used for whatever strikes his fancy since he already managed to get what he came for. he decides he'll just catch the first thing he sees so he can go home soon.

a bird comes to view.

kyle decides to keep going for a fourth puppy since they were evidently more superior compared to the birds in terms of appearance.

he supposed a gible would be fine as the last one just so he can go home.

when he approaches the little dragon-type, the pokemon senses him quick and runs off. its little legs can only take it as far, and kyle would chase it if he was motivated enough. the other option was to get his pokemon to do the chasing instead.

"charl-!"

he whips his head around and sees his mightyena distracted by a dandelion fluff floating in the air. instead of chasing after the gible, he decides to let his mightyena do his thing.

kyle snaps a photo instead of getting the gible because he knows his priorities were never wrong.

"congrats, rocky. you just won the lottery."

the rockruff immediately turns tail as soon as kyle greets him with an weirdly worded greeting. an immediate action from kyle comes, and the rock-type soon hears the battering of paws chasing after him after a sharp whistle.

"just give up puppy," he advises the rockruff from afar.

before the rockruff could react to the trainer's offer, the mightyena bowls over the rock-type, teeth on its scruff as it tries to pin it down. when it tries to scramble away, heat from a hyper beam starts to generate on its nape. fear gets it to freeze in place, allowing kyle to walk over and capture with a pokeball.

he hopes that the experience didn't traumatize the pokemon and that he can still be fixed.
