The streets of Lilycove are swathed in darkness, illuminated only by the dim light of street lamps. A shadow races across the rooftops, expert in their placement. There is no sound except for the occasional clink of wine glasses at a late-night party below. [break][break]

She strikes when the bar erupts in an uproar of laughter. It sounds like someone's holding a bachelor party. [break][break]

Emma had been hunting a pack of rats in the dark. They had gotten away with petty crimes in the past, but they had overstayed their welcome. She had heard whispers that they were planning something bigger, a robbery or a murder. It didn't matter, she had stopped tracing all of the pieces, stopped doing all of her research.[break][break]

She was hungry, and the hunt had begun.[break][break]

It didn't occur to her that she had made a mistake - that she might be walking into a trap - that she might be in danger. Or maybe she did know and she didn't care. Maybe the thrill was what she was seeking. She hadn't been sleeping, hadn't been willing to sleep.[break][break]

The nightmares troubled her more than she cared to admit. This was her distraction, this would be her punishment. Maybe this would stop the nightmares.[break][break]

"Bang."[break][break]

Her rifle is trained on the individual in the alley-way. He's cutting a deal, shaking hands with his partner. The bullet pierces him between the eyes and he falls. She's startled the partner and he turns to flee while she loads the next bullet. She releases a quiet breath as she pulls the trigger a second time - but piercing pain in her shoulder causes her to misfire.[break][break]

The woman whirls, pain and rage the source of her ferocity as the bullet wound in her shoulder throbs. Another bullet pierces her stomach before she has a chance to react. It causes her to double over but she's pulled her throwing-knife, lodging it in the shooter's eye.[break][break]

And then she's running, fingers pressed to the wound in her stomach, doing her best to stop the bleeding. Her flight causes her to fall as she's making her way to the surface, finding her way down to the ground, the streets of Lilycove rather than the rooftops.[break][break]

But she is not afraid of dying, not really. She's more concerned that she had been discovered, used. The sound of footsteps and men whispering under their breath, discussing the trail of blood she's leaving encourages her to keep moving.

As Thomas walked through the dark streets of Lilycove, the man would produce a cigarette from his jacket, lighting it up, and staring up at the night sky as the death stick burned between his lips. It had been a while since the Kalosian has set foot in the city, having been focused on watching over Verdanturf for the longest time. Going from spending his time at the Ranch, with all of his beloved Pokemon, to staying at the Benoit Estate while on family business was a jarring transition.

Above all else, the Gym Leader was worried about how the little ones were all doing. Were they all behaving themselves? Were they saddened by his absence? All the same, he wanted to get this business over with soon, so he could get back to his beloved horde.

Thomas' thoughts were interrupted by the sound of gunfire. One shot, then more. The Gym Leader would quickly put out the cigarette. Thomas, producing a pistol of his own, rushed to investigate the sounds. Along the way, Thomas sent out Thread the Galvantula, having it crawl along the wall to back him up as he investigated. But before he could get to the site, Thread would spot a woman on the ground.

As Thomas went to check on the woman, Thread would wait along the corner for the men to pop their heads out, ready to surprise them with an Electroweb. As Thomas went to help the woman up, he would get a good look at her face. "You.", Thomas croaked out in a hushed tone.

On one hand, having remembered what happened the last time, he wondered if it would even be a good idea to save her. Perhaps he should turn her over to the League? That would be the right thing to do. But on the other hand, getting her out, and helping her recover could be useful. The Kalosian had so many questions for the woman. Besides, he seriously doubted that the League would be able to hold her.

"Come with me, if you want to live.", Thomas told the woman quietly, offering to help her up, and get her out of there.

Emma gasps, her voice a choked pant as she pulls herself off the ground. She stumbles, blood staining the ground, slipping between her fingers. Someone has rushed to her side and she flinches away, unsure if they're friend or foe. Except his hands are helping her to her feet and she senses no hostility, and she barely hears him croak a single word.[break][break]

Instead, her fingers latch around his hand and she growls as the pain in her stomach pulses angrily. [break][break]

She can hear men rushing from around the corner. They hadn't been as brave as she had to jump from the rooftop, and had instead taken a safer and slower route. Thomas' voice cuts the silence, his voice barely above a whisper. She takes his offer out of necessity - it was unlikely she would escape without him.[break][break]

Emma steals whatever strength she has left to pull herself back to feet and follow Thomas' lead. Her feet scuff the ground and she stumbles as she tries to focus on running, on keeping pace with him.

"Thread, patch her up.", Thomas whispered. The Galvantula would fire off a String Shot at the wounded woman's abdomen, attempting to form an improvised bandage to keep her from bleeding out. With that out of the way, Thomas would attempt to escort Emma out of the area as quickly as possible. Though unlike his master, Thread stayed behind, taking to the shadows.

Thomas had no plans of escaping the men on foot. Rather, he was waiting for the men to round the corner where Thread was waiting in ambush. Though they had numbers on their side, the fools were clustered together, making them easy prey for the insect. From the shadows, the Galvantula would fire off a net of Electroweb at the group. Once they were ensnared, the Galvantula wasted no time in running a current down the strand of silk that allowed him to maintain connection to the silk net.

Screams of pain and the smell of burning ozone permeated the area, the current ceasing once the men were rendered unconscious from the attack. With that, Thread would rush back to Thomas and the assassin. When the Galvantula caught up with them, Thomas quickly recalled the arachnid, and sent out Freke the Alakazam. "Freke, Teleport us to the Estate!", Thomas ordered the Psychic-type. Freke would grab onto his master, before Teleporting out of the area, before reinforcements could arrive.

Once they arrived at the Benoit Estate, Thomas would holster his pistol, and help her inside, where a butler and maid would see the Kalosian carrying a wounded woman. "She needs help! Please, get Eleanor!", Thomas called out to them urgently. The butler would begin to make the call, while the maid would help Thomas get Emma inside, escorting him to a room prepared for treating wounds.

Her hand is, incidentally, glued to her abdomen as a result of the Galvantula's string-shot. It manages to stifle the bleeding, however, at least until Thomas is able to get her to safety. Her hand remains glued to his as he strings her along, keeping her safe. But her consciousness slips in and out with black spots in her peripherals. [break][break]

The woman's breathing is labored as she struggles to keep her focus on him. He calls for his Pokemon and suddenly they're teleporting. Her body is no longer in her control and, on the other side, she is a sack of potatoes in the man's arms as he helps her inside. When he calls for Eleanor, she is unconscious.[break][break]

Blood seeps from the string-shot holding her together.[break][break]
