Blonde strands of hair stuck to her face, a young woman strode down route 110 with a carefree expression on her face. She had just gone for a swim back at the beaches of Slateport City and was now heading out into the wild for a bit of training. A good Ranger was one that trained consistently, Charli would always tell herself growing up. She'd stuck with the motto for so long; it was that mentality that had gotten her to the place she was now, after all. [break][break]

Scooped up in her hands was a spikey, blue and purple blob. If one were to look closely, they'd see that the strange ball was no ball at all, but a Pokemon instead. Violet-colored eyes peeked up from the Mareanie's tentacles. It appeared content, having taken a fun plunge with its partner too. [break][break]

She passed by a person on their bike. Charli smiled, "Long day?" The woman asked simply, a smirk lining her soft lips.

Charli smirked in a friendly manner at this stranger. She hoped she wasn't being too intrusive, but the sight of biker slightly reminded her of her teenage years. She always rode the cycling route two and from Slateport City in the pursuit of adventure. "Went for a swim, heading back home now," The blonde replied, Rory, her Mareanie in her grasp letting out a happy coo of agreement. [break][break]

However, Charli quickly became distracted when she heard the nearby footsteps of approaching Pokemon. She nodded at the crimson-haired girl's suggestion. "Yeah... A quick catch doesn't sound so bad." Charli placed Rory onto the ground and the little sea creature hopped forward, approaching these Pokemon. [break][break]

Knowing what her Trainer wanted from her, it launched forward at the Passimian in particular. Its tentacles lurched at the primate, poking it with its poisonous needles in a Poison Jab attack. The ape was taken aback now, and Charli took the chance to launch a Pokeball at the beast's body.

She sauntered over to the Pokeball she had thrown, Passimian now her rightful catch. Charli's face lit up with excitement-- she loved strong fighting types more than anything. The woman crouched down and retrieved the capsule, clipping it to her belt proudly as if it were a badge of honor. [break][break]

It wasn't long before another wave of Pokemon made their presence known, though. Charli's blue gaze caught the sights of the Tailow pestering the girl, but before she could even command Mareanie to help stop the angry avian a sudden blur of white and orange quickly dealt with it in a fierce charge. The bird fell to the ground, and a bunny came out the victor of the fray. Charli smiled curiously, "Wow, I've never seen that Pokemon before," She uttered, her tone inquisitive. She loved the way it looked-- small but tough. "Is it Alolan? Or maybe Galarian?" Charli asked the sunny-haired trainer. [break][break]



"They sure are feisty! I've lived in Slateport all my life but I've never been attacked along the bike route by wild buggers so vigorously like this," Contemplated Charli with an enthusiastic chuckle. It wasn't like she disliked it. A challenge kept a good trainer on their toes. "Your little friend looks tenacious. I'm sure you'd be fine out here along with 'em." She laughed, offering the girl a wink. [break][break]

She walked a little closer to inspect the two, "I'm Charli, by the way. It's nice to meetcha."

"June 'n Jet, I like the ring to that," Charli chuckled, offering the girl a brief but amiable pat to her shoulder. There were just so many Pokemon out there, the woman thought. She hoped as a Ranger that she would be able to meet even more. [break][break]

Yet another Pokemon jumped into the fray as if all of the wild residents were out to get the group. The Scorbunny dealt with the octopus enemy promptly, but another foe was still remaining. A Poliwrath. Charli recognized this one. [break][break]

"Stand back Rory, I'll let Firn deal with this one," She declared. The Mareanie leaped back to Charli's side just as she threw out a Pokeball, releasing a Grovyle from its confines. [break][break]

Poliwrath charged forward but Firn was faster. Jumping up into the air, the lizard beast began to spin, releasing a hefty Leaf Storm attack at its foe. Poliwrath was caught in the middle of the treacherous blades of leaves and was left injured. Charli was quick to claim the opportunity to catch it, throwing a Pokeball the dual-type's way. [break][break]

"We'd best keep a move on or we'll continue to get jumped by these Pokemon!" Charli advised, her protective nature beginning to kick in.

Charli used one hand to give a loving pet to her Grovyle while the other picked up the Pokeball that now housed her newly captured Poliwrath. Firn had always been a tough cookie-- she was one of the girl's first Pokemon partners. Firn had been there for Charli as a Treeko in her rookie days. The two had grown up close together so their bond was as strong as anything. [break][break]

"Right. They're usually pretty tame if you're just passing by," She replied while returning Rory to her Pokeball. The Grovyle stood up at attention and began forward too, jumping onto the closest trees and leaping off of branches to get a headstart view of what may lay ahead for the group. Charli walked beside June as she pulled her bike along. [break][break]

A hand rubbed the back of her neck as she thought. She sighed, "Trainers must be throwing off berries and other food off of the bike route's railings again... I like to think that do it with good intentions but they don't realize that draws in wild Pokemon closer than they should be. So, when people go through the routes and don't offer up any food, the wild Pokemon get a little agitated," Reasoned Charli, offering up one explanation. "I swear, it doesn't matter how many times Rangers put up signs. They still do it!" [break][break]

They were moving forward without much opposition. For now, anyway...
