the previous plan was quickly replaced with another when kat hints him of something enticing.

"ooh, we're hunting something down? are we ghost hunting? i like ghost hunting!"

he peers deeper into the cave, trying to make something out of the darkness if he can. unfortunately, he can't. besides the squeaking of rodents and a few groans from the cave pokemon, priam cannot make out of anything.

his priorities were set afterwards. his full attention had been on the subject that katherine had teased him. he turns to her, grinning with excitement and obviously giddy.

"nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. it's fine. we're going deep!"

She mentions, her eyes drawn to the shadows and darkness just as his were. "It could be some monster too, you know. Like... The monster of Lake Verity?" Sure, its existence was fiction for the most part but... You could never know. And as they proceed, there seems to be no disturbance. The coast is clear and they are allowed to tread in the cave peacefully-- at least until Morgana is targeted by a floating Alolan Raichu. It attempts to slam into her, but finds himself only phasing through the ghost-type's form.

Katherine's partner begins to amass shadows and collect them in a sphere before launching it at the dual-type who appeared confused by the fact that his attack did not affect the witch-pokemon in the slightest. Morgana, who was not nearly as confused, only sneered in response.

"Hm, hm. He had guts, didn't he? Maybe I could teach him some manners." A pokeball is tossed at the surfer-pokemon, Katherine intending to capture him before proceeding along with Priam to explore the depths of the cave.

priam claps when katherine catches the wild pokemon. it was courtesy to show interest when someone puts up a show in front of him after all. only after the capture has registered that priam gets back on the previous topic.

"lake verity? what's that?"

the extent of his geographic knowledge only encompasses kanto and hoenn, never bothering to learn outside of his reach. even if he had the opportunity to learn, he'd probably disregard it, unable to see why learning impractical things was going to help him.

he supposed it does make good conversation material.

"what does the lake verity monster do? kill shit? i'd kill it back if it's gonna kill me!"

priam starts to jab the air as they traverse the cave.

Her explanation is curt and plain, not offering a lot of information for Priam to digest at first. He seemed like the person who needed to process things in small doses. "I read that some monster lives in the water there. A really big and ugly creature, according to some. Only a few have managed to spot it though, so... I dunno if it's real." However, Kat had no reason to take a guess when she hasn't even been to the region before.

Her brow quirks when Priam begins to punch the air, drawing the attention of a Frogadier who seemed to have been pensive until now. His train of thought is cut short, forcing him to relocate away from the pair of criminals who had disturbed his peaceful time.

he thinks about the premise of travelling to another place. while he didn't have any choice when he moved to hoenn, he wonders if he'd have the same sentiment towards his new home if it is by his decision.

"i'unno. i kinda miss kanto. maybe i'll miss hoenn too."

his attention comes to a goomy. he decides to busy his thoughts with it instead of reminiscing his kanto days and trying to relieve the feeling of going to a new place. using his brain wasn't really fun anyways.

priam nudges his shroomish close to the goomy, who notices him when priam approaches with his pokemon. "do the thing," he tells the grass-type.

from the grass-type's head, it releases an orb of toxic and a myriad of leech seeds towards the goomy. it writhes in pain before it can react with its retaliation, and priam follows it up with a pokeball.

with his attention on the pokeball as he waits for it to confirm capture, he continues the chat.

"have you been in that sinnoh place before? or any other place besides hoenn?"

It wasn't often that Katherine heard someone mentioning Kanto in a positive way. Some dared to reminisce the old days, before Rocket, but not much else. Kanto of today was no vacation resort by any means. Kat couldn't imagine finding something positive about it, but... Different strokes for different people. Maybe there was something special in the region for Priam. Maybe he was wearing a pair of nostalgia goggles.

"No, I've only been to Hoenn. I was born and raised here."

Perhaps if she hadn't left her parents' house at the age of sixteen, she would've joined one of their trips. But it was too late to regret her decisions, wasn't it?

Both Katherine's eyes and Mismagius' observe Shroomish as he deals with the Goomy. The ghost-type does so for a brief while, for when Kat notices it she averts her gaze immediately. The trainer doesn't question it and merely shrugs, dismissing the thought away.

"I'd leave Hoenn if they ever ask me to," She referred to the higher-ups in the organization. Those who were known for their titles first and names second. "I want to see the world."

he walks to pick up the pokeball before continuing to venture further the cave to explore the rest of its contents. on his way, he turns back to kat.

"it's definitely nice when everything's new! you should've seen me trying to get out of shoal cave when i was new to hoenn. man, i didn't knew the layout changes with the tides!"

he chuckles at his misfortunes. there were a lot more incidents of him blindly trying to explore the main island of hoenn on his own, most of them never ending well. still, they were memories that he cherished.

"is sinnoh your next target?" he asks.

"Hah." Priam's confession earns a chuckle from the Rocketess, who can't help but imagine him trying to understand what was happening to the cave. If Katherine hadn't known about the strange nature of the Shoal Cave when she first paid it a visit, she would have assumed that she was going mental.
.. Or something similar.

"If I ever get a say in it, then yes. I think it is my next target," She admits before kicking a pebble, likely with more force than necessary. It lands just a couple of inches far from a Mareanie who flashes the pair an angry look. "Oops!"

Her eyes avert from the poison-type without any sign of guilt. After all, Being quick to apologize wasn't a merit Kat was known for. "But I am not quite done with Hoenn. I mean... I've spent most of my life stuck in Sootopolis. There's still more I want to see here too."

"Anyway, enough about me." She didn't like talking about where she came from. "Enough about where we come from, I mean. What's important is where we are now."

the smile turns softer for a moment before a smirk forms, and then a snicker. while he makes do with what he has, the optimistic nature of him tends to empathize with her words.

"ya like bein' in rocket? that's surprisin'."

while the adrenaline and rush that come from the jobs taken from their line of work feeds his childish wanderlust, part of priam has always been curious about the what-if's about his current situation. most of the time, he ignores them, such as this current moment.

"or do you mean, like, here, as in this cave?" he asks, his smirk only growing larger with a raise of an eyebrow. he decides to continue, trying to contain the snickering, "alone with me, priam motherfuckin' conrad."
