[attr="class","spiral"] The Safari Zone has two main purposes: to capture a standardized set of exotic Pokemon and to train his own Pokemon against creatures of a set strength. This time Fernando brings along a rare Pokemon he's yet to understand. The Shaymin he keeps on him is something he can only find records about online, having never seen one prior to his mysterious transaction, nor account of any other trainers having acquired such a Pokemon.

For something so small, it's energy seems boundless. He's yet to understand how much power something so docile can contain.

It's an attack Fernando's seen the Pokemon use once. No other grass type has been able to recreate it. While nothing outstanding, it boasts a power that's worth familiarizing with in the pursuit of a hidden ace. He watches expectantly as his Silph Scope comes to life, analyzing the attack as the Shaymin leaps into the air and bombards the Psyduck with a concentrated burst of energy.

It faints ceremoniously and Fernando's scowl hides his satisfaction. Not bad.

Another Pokemon impedes their way and Fernando has his Shaymin dispatch it as well. With an uncanny mastery of the winds, the Pokemon flies along several gales that aim to dice the fighting type. Cuts appear where the wind fills in the gaps and the Tyrogue is sent tumbling back until it's rendered unconscious.

Fernando's quite pleased with the power of this Pokemon. Despite the Shaymin's tiny frame the power of its attack is enough to cull opponents of the same size.

A Dreepy is the next one in their way and Fernando has it handle it in the same manner. They revert to SEED FLARE and the burst knocks the Pokemon right out of the air. It faints in a single blow but this time Shaymin can't find the power to attack again. At least with the same technique.

Fernando lobs a Safariball toward the unconscious Dreepy.

[attr="class","spiral"]And now they come across a bad match up. Chimchar is an obvious threat due to its typing but how well could it execute it.

Not very well, apparently. A FLAME WHEEL is hurled like a Frisbee and the Shaymin ducks the attack entirely, weaving in the air in the same motion of a water Pokemon in water. Rather than strike repeatedly, the Pokemon continues to manipulate the air around it, condensing it into a decisive AIR SLASH.

Once the Chimchar is knocked out, Fernando continues.

[attr="class","spiral"] Oh! This time they come across a Sobble. That's one of those new Galarian starter Pokemon.

Fernando's not quite sure how powerful the new Pokemon is but he wants to get a gauge of how powerful it can be. "Don't sweep it this time," he commands. Giving it a small window to fight back will give him a better idea how useful it can be.

Shaymin opens up with a SWEET SCENT to lower the opponent's evasion. As much as the Sobble enjoys the smell, it ejects a MIST to dispel the artificial smell. By now, it's too late. The Shaymin already has a current and attacks with AIR SLASH, using the same gales to launch a LEAF STORM. Multiple leafs pelt the Sobble into submission, using a combination of the attacks to continually wear it down with projectile after projectile.

Fernando tosses a ball once the Pokemon's unable to resist.
