now that he started to think about it, priam doesn't know much about marcel's preferences. he hasn't actually seen him fight in a pokemon battle as most of the times he'd seen him use use his pokemon, it's for practical uses or self-defense. he has cool pokemon, he supposed.

"what's your style, then?" he blatantly asks. "i can give you my scyther since maybe that's right up your alley, but it's cool so i'm not sure if i really wanna give it away."

his arcanine too, but the arcanine's out of its pokeball and it's kind of rude to talk about him when he's right there. priam has enough manners to know that, at least.

priam breaks down at the look of suspicion on marcel's eyes. he huffs and folds his arms as creases form on his forehead

"huh? no! i'm just genuinely super nice, ya know?" he answers defiantly. "i can stick to cakes if you want though."

it wasn't like priam was in a position to give gifts before anyways.

from the corner of his eye, priam spots a peculiar pokemon. he has seen its evolved form multiple times, but the name of its baby form eludes him every time. it looks like a sword and it kinda fits marcel's preference of practical pokemon.

"how about that one?" he asks, pointing at the honedge. "that pokemon looks like it can get the job done without bringing an entire building down. just take it by the hilt and slash to kill!"

"i only give out the shitty ones," he confesses quite easily. "and i already have a ferrothorn and a forretress, so these are extras!"

on hindsight, maybe he shouldn't be telling marcel that he already has a collection of pokemon that can explode.

when asked with his preferences, priam answers with a straightforward answer. "i used to just get pokemon aren't expensive to keep," which explains why his gabite never evolved and that he used primarily grass-types early on, "but now i just get the cool looking ones."

a combusken gets in his view. "like that one!" he turns to his arcanine. "get him!"

the combusken sees the arcanine go for him, which he defends himself with a fire-type attack. unfortunately, it does little to the arcanine, who turns the favor with a close-ranged dragon pulse. amid the fight, priam throws a pokeball before it gets too damaged.

"i'd get a noivern to be honest, cause they're so cool and shit, but that's, like, encroaching your territory, ya feel me?"

his opinion on said pokemon may have been influenced with the time he spent with marcel before the rocket rework.

yeah, he can have a noivern, but priam can never see himself using it when he's with marcel.

he really needs to teach marcel on how important it is being cool cause he doesn't want him to be as boomer as Lucas Lane is. at least he's not awkward about it unlike league's head scientist.

"see? you need the first impression to be like 'oh wow they're so strong and cool and shit'! you can't do that with some twinsies gimmick!"

he whips his head around, and finds the weird meowth. he points at it and his arcanine follows with his head. "like if i get that, i can just use that instead of a persian if i'm with someone with another meowth."

turning to his arcanine, he orders a move for it to hit the wild pokemon with without the knowledge of its typing. "flame burst!"

flames come out of the fire-types maw as it shoots the fireball at the galarian meowth, embers exploding from it upon contact. before it gets up, priam takes a pokeball and chucks it at the meowth.
