constant tapping could be heard from the cell inside of the laboratory, tapping that followed a rhythm as its sole occupant and his pokemon were humming along to a song with the strange green dog nodding along to the beat. then the humming turned into actual lyrics. "oooooh your my best friend, in a world we must defeeeeend. a heart so truuuuue, our courage will pull us throoooough. you teach me and i'll teach you..." kazimir nearly jumped from the small cot that they provided him and rug slide over to the zygarde to wrap an arm around the green dog as it let out a howl with the final crescendo of his song; "POKEMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON! GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL, GOTTA CATCH 'EM AAAAALL!" if they were going to be captives then they sure as hell were going to make the most out of it.

the day's been long enough--and his job difficult enough--without the racket already. it only takes a few seconds for him to snap. pushing himself away from the desk, marcel leaves his metagross and one of his rotom behind as they work in tandem around his computer. his umbreon stays by his heels, matching his long strides with shorter, swifter steps.

he expects to find some unruly grunt, a priam conrad or someone of the like, but when he's met with a unfamiliar (but vaguely recognisable) face, marcel's forced to backtrack. so he stands there--rumpled shirt, tousled hair, tired eyes--patience wearing thinner and thinner the more his mind has to work.

"my pokemon knows throat chop," he drawls slowly, clearly, "so i'd kindly suggest that you stop that."

the doors opened and out popped a man who was both threatening and eerily familiar. had they met before? the thought was in the back of kaz's head as he focused more on the fact that the guy stated the fact that one of his little pets knew how to chop at a person's throat. kaz knew that kind of pain, it was not fun. "sorry just got a little...bored. y'know how it is, locked up in a cage with nothing to do and just sitting around waiting for something to happen."

even if the guy was serious or not kaz still kept a smug smile on his face as he leaned against the bars of his cell. "it might help if you oh i dunno...let me outta here? it would stop all the noise at least." of course that didn't count for any noise he would make the second he got out of here. explosions were pretty loud and as a secret hero it was his duty to make sure team rocket knew what an explosion really felt like. he kept telling himself that over and over in his head while he was waiting and he couldn't wait to try and put that to the test.

his rotom makes a sound and marcel takes a moment to glance at his phone, hovering beside him. a status update from his other rotom. he mutters some things to his pokemon before turning back to kazimir.

against his better judgement, marcel closes the distance between himself and the cell. he crouches down to peer at what seems to be a dog of some sort. his curiosity gets the better of him. "the hell's that?"

well there went that plan. not that he expected someone to actually tell him unless they were really dumb or he did them a very special favor. pokkenger might be above such things but kazimir wynter was willing to do what he could to survive. it didn't look like favors was going to win over this guy, not when his attention turned to the strange dog that was attached to kazimir's hip and asked him just what it was exactly.

would he believe kaz if he told him he was some guardian angel that pulled him away when he was at death's door twice? heck kazimir himself couldn't quite believe that sort of luck that still saved him. even if he told him that kaz was eighty percent sure that it was some weird pokemon that was growing inside of his body would that suffice? actually that would probably make it worse. so what could he say?

"its a shiny boltund. like really rare kind of shiny. it just sort of followed me home and is really against getting away from me. careful. it might bite." he could say that. it was probably the lamest lie ever told but it was something that probably had some foundation for a truth right?

marcel waves over his rotom-phone. "snap." in response to his command, the rotom-phone flits around the strange dog (as best as it can with the bars in the way) taking a series of photos as it goes.
[break][break]as his pokemon works, marcel turns back to the other man. "just answer the question, it's not like you have anything better to do." he couldn't imagine there were many ways to pass by time in here.

as the rotom phone took pictures it received a low growl from the green dog as it never once shifted its stance. that thing took stoic to a whole new level, just like how the truth of how kazimir got it was going to do. but if it meant that he was going to get out of here with little to no harm then he was going to have to tell him "everything" no matter how crazy it sounded. "so the truth huh? well...ok then." he took a deep breath.

"so i interned at mossdeep space center for a while and when the sky split open last year i was in the lab of another scientist there. found this little worm thing in one of their scopes and it suddenly crawled into my skin. fast forward to new years when the clown attacked and i almost got crushed by some rubble till the worm popped out to protect me. skip ahead to when that tree sprouted up and I...was there. at the contest. i got caught up when the thing started turning the place into the jungle and before i could get hurt this thing sprouted outta me and protected me. then one of your guys put me to sleep for some reason and i woke up here. and that's the truth." boy did he make it sound like it was the most casual thing to happen to anyone ever.

marcel pinches the bridge of his nose as he tries to process kazimir's story. a glance at his rotom-phone tells him the pokemon's recorded the whole speech. good--there was no way he was getting it all on the first listen.

"you--" he stops, sighs, thinks a bit longer. a few more seconds pass before marcel suddenly stands up. he runs a hand through his hair.

"forget it," he finally says, "this isn't my department." he'd let the scientists have their fun--eva had more than enough to find in the weird dog-creature. marcel glances down at the pokemon in question--if he could call it that. "just cut out the singing."
