Kaida blinks in surprise as the gym leader himself comes to greet them, something she was expecting to experience this particular Gym. Why even have a receptionist then? With a tug on Bragi's hand, she led them forward, promptly discovering why they were greeted. Whether it was a question to discover what happened to her, or a genuine interest in her well-being, Kaida still grumbled slightly before answering, "As fine as ever. Still alive, aren't I?" [break][break]

Thankfully, his Pokemon looked ready to battle from the get-go, a mist swirling around the battlefield and a shimmering Barrier up. She was only lucky that these particular two didn't rely much upon crippling the opponent or physical attacks. Still, she grunted for Bragi's attention and tapped her own cheek, shaking her head. Don't use Nuzzle unless I say so. Ormr needed no instruction, his strategy needed no change. [break][break]

Standing at her end of the arena, Kaida returned her two Pokemon, rearing back to throw them and speaking her dues, "Thank you for battling me. Let's go hunt!" Her words signaled her own beginning, a promise that she could watch her Pokemon's backs. Bragi and Ormr emerged on two different slabs of land, Kaida already attempting to start two seperare battles and avoid Bragi's friendly fire...water didn't exactly let Bragi shoot with no consideration to Ormr. [break][break]

Ormr's mouth yawned open, an unseen energy being inhaled and lurking right under his scales, both a chance to heal and defenses rising with one move. On another slab, Bragi played a scratchy tune, electricity coming off her fingers as she danced in place, Charging. From her point of view, Kaida watched carefully, hoping to catch what would happen.

The Surf roared towards her Pokemon, all-consuming and powerful, there was nothing else to do. "Hold on!" She cried out, seeing the only thing her Pokemon could do was not fall into the water. Bragi leaned down, one arm over her face and, miraculously, held on. Her natural electric typing and ongoing Charge helped stave off the damage, though her muscles started up a terrible pain. Ormr was about as lucky, the impact staved off a little by his Stockpile, but sending the smaller serpent tumbling across his little island. Damaged but still in the running, her Pokemon made for battle. [break][break]

A long-range battle was in the stars and, luckily, her Pokemon were similarly built for such a battle. Bragi's strumming Charge stopped suddenly as she made a bold leap to another island, one hand trying to point at the songstress of the Pokemon world. The Tentacruel might be in the way, but if she could get a shot, it would be perfect. A long screech rung out as Bragi clawed at her chest, and fired off a loud bolt of electricity. Overdrive screamed towards the Pokemon, exploding forward with both the force of Charge and her Punk Rock. She crashed onto the other island, a little closer, in a clumsy caricature of a combat roll. Uncertain if Ormr had the same idea, Kaida pointed towards the other opponent, "Help Bragi, Ormr, stay far, don't bite." Don't try and knock it out. Comfortably far, as Bragi made her leap, Ormr reared up and aimed at the Tentacruel, a spit of acid flying. Acid Spray was not meant to harm it, not at all, but it would make all attacks supported by this long-range play do more damage. Now, even if the Primarina was defended, damage would still build quickly.

Bragi shrieked, only a purple blur blasting backwards, sent spluttering into the waters. She burst back onto land, sparks flying off her body as she snarled. Was she going to try the attack again, even with the blast still visible on her chest? "Bragi! Don't!" She roared at the same moment Ormr hissed at the young one, both their voices telling one message. Calm down! Another blast like that would surely defeat Bragi, who sucked in a shuddering breath, barely cooling off, and only clenched her fists. [break][break]

That's better, go Bragi. [break][break]

Light rushed up and down her mohawk frill, the Toxicitry bouncing on her feet as she sent her electricity to her muscles instead of attacking. Shift Gear, a move typically seen on mechanical Pokemon, boosted both her physical strength and speed, and she rushed forward, leaping across pieces of land towards her two enemies. [break][break]

Ormr could only feel the Encore echoing in his head, and reluctantly pressed forward, the only thing he could do. He slithered into the water, breaching on land a little bit closer, a little more in the Tentacruel's face. If distract was all he could do at the moment, distract he could do. Another Acid Spray was fired off, towards the fairy-type. If the Tentacruel was the guard, then Ormr wold be certain it stayed on him. [break][break]

Kaida watched carefully where the Tentacruel was, whatever Pokemon it chose to confront decided what Bragi would do.

Bragi wasn't long for the battle, Kaida could tell. The way she trembled simply to get up from a Hydro Pump told that. Still, Kaida at least hoped she could stand to last until the Encore wore off, at least close to the duration end. On that note, she could not afford Bragi being harmed by another Mirror Coat, which meant..."Hug it, Bragi!" Her codenames for her Pokemon to do certain actions were always a little odd, but there was no other word for what Bragi was going to do. [break][break]

Mirror Coat was a deadly ender to battles, if you used long-distance attacks. The Tentacruel had to have taken quite a bit of damage from the charged Overdrive, an enormous attack using Bragi's ability and moves combined. While Nuzzle was a small attack, more electricity was going to hurt. Bragi ran like she was waiting for the opportunity, switching targets and leaping at the Tentacruel instead. Just a littke touch would send a jolt through the Tentacruel, unable to paralyze currently, but sure to harm. She would try to cling, trying to hold the Tentacruel near her, so that Ormr could move. While Encore was still happening, and the Haze had reset any defensive drop, Ormr only moved closer. He was aware he hadn't taken much damage compared to Bragi, and could only press his advantage. Another burst of Acid Spray zipped at Primarina, intent on forcing either multiple Hazes or an acceptance of fallen defenses.

Poison Jab sunk into Bragi's back, a poison-type move causing an inordinate amount of pain in her weakened state. Then, as if to add insult to injury, she was dragged underwater. The electric-type was being drowned. Under the water, there was no real way for Kaida to command the young one, who clearly only had one chance at attack...and she took it, because Kaida would tell her, if she was going to lose, make sure the family had a chance to win. With only just enough space to reach a hand to her chest, Bragi managed to strum out a loud Overdrive. A combination of the electricity and sound, underwater no less, would hopefully defeat or severely weaken the opponent. Unfortunately, underwater with the attack, Bragi gasped in a breath of water, and promptly went limp, fainted. At her point of view, Kaida hurriedly whipped out a Pokeball and returned the Pokemon, clearly out if battle. [break][break]

A blast of water sent Ormr skidding back on the surface and, perhaps it was predictable, but he countered with another Acid Spray, Encore's hold was weakening, and the Ekans thought he'd be able to strike differently on his next attack.

Bruises and shattered scales littered the Ekans' body, the serpent shakily raising his head. The Encore had finally wore off, and Kaida noticed as Ormr didn't move to use Acid Spray again. "Ormr! Heal!" She ordered, seemingly ordering the Ekans to use its stored Stockpile, but not quite so. [break][break]

The snake's mouth yawned open, and his fangs glowed a light green. Giga Drain, preying on the acid weakened Primarina. If she was healing while attacking, so could he. Why, when did Kaida plan such a strategy? Just call it a big brain moment.
