June felt more validated in her anger when the ranger agreed with her. And the more she thought about the more the officer was about to just leave and go join the rest of the group. However, that thought stopped when she noticed some peculiar happening outside.

A truck pulled up to a nearby building which would have been normal or at least not that suspicious if this was any other time of day.

It is the dead of night and especially with what was going on no one should be here. And to make matters more interesting the group that came out was carrying a lot of large containers. And with the way, they parked there was no way of telling if there were any more.

Was this group related to the one they were here for? Was it a separate group? Or was it just some workers that were doing some late-night warehousing?

Regardless of whichever direction June felt was more likely she was going to check it out, this was their time.

”There’s no way I’m just going to sit here after this.” June said after the group left, quickly turned to her fellow bench warmer.

”Let’s go check it out! And if it turns out to be nothing then no big deal, right?” And she wouldn’t wait for a response as she already left the vehicle and started making her way over to the truck.

June made her way to back of the truck which was of course locked so there was no getting in there without some help. So she checked around to make sure that no one would be in range to see or hear this before letting out her Lycanroc.

”Okay use Psychic Fangs.” The attack would break the locks off the handle allowing for June to open the truck and check what was in the back of it.

June was surprised but happy that Iris decided to follow behind her, it’d be more fun to have someone with her in all of this.

”Listen it’s like I said it’s no big deal!” June replied as she jumped into the back, her Lycanroc following behind.

”Worst case scenario if there’s nothing fishy going on we can just say with the other operation going on we had enough suspicion to check the truck and see if ther-“ Her words stopped and quickly she went to cover her nose and mouth.

The stench within the truck was overwhelming, almost to the point of causing tears.

June scrambled to find a switch to illuminate the trailer, doing her best to hold back gagging. It was some horrid mix of what she could only assume was bleach, fish, rotting flesh and heaven knows what else.

Her poor Lycanroc was having a worse time due to its heightened sense of smell which is why once June found a light she returned the Pokémon.

Now that they could see they could investigate and they had a lot to look at. Cages, crates, and what looked to be diving equipment were scattered about the trailer, cleanliness was definitely not one of their strong suits.

At a glance this was all incredible sketchy and would suggest smuggling but she couldn’t or perhaps more accurately wouldn’t investigate any further, the smell was killing her. She’d turn to Iris and wave towards the exit. Iris could stay in here and try and figure stuff out but June was going to get some much needed fresh air.

”Bloody hell that was fucking awful!” She took in a deep breath after that. June wanted to find something that connected this group with the other. Maybe an insignia on one of the crates or pieces of equipment or perhaps some papers or logs that could do the trick for her.

But she wasn’t putting herself through that again.

June was still reeling from her own adventure inside of the truck and the horrid stench that accompanied it that she didn’t have a chance to say anything to Iris as the other went inside to find something of use.

Hopefully, Iris would have a better time of it than June, despite June’s own concerns that Iris would just end up just like her. But much to June’s surprise and glee Iris managed to grab something after all.

”Brilliant! You managed to grab something!” June was quick to inspect what Iris grabbed, looking to see if she could find some marker.

”Let’s see what we’re working with! Better be worth us going into that shitty truck.” Speaking of which she’d pause her inspection to go over and close the truck, what kind of animals would drive around with that sort of stench in the back?

And now back to inspecting and soon enough June found what she was looking for.

”Bingo!” The insignia of the pirate group was engraved here. It was a form of a warning sign to anyone with sticky fingers that if they decided to swipe this gear they’d be sure to have the entire crew coming after them and removed said fingers.

But did this mean that their intel was wrong and the pirates were actually hiding out in here or maybe this was just someone who managed to buy or successfully steal some of their merchandise? Either way, this was shady and was suspicious enough to justify an investigation.

”We've got a serious problem. We need to figure out what's going on in here, our people might be raiding the wrong place. You with me?”

”A full-frontal assault? I like the way you think!” Now that Iris had said the magical words there’d be no real debate about what their next move should be as June’s tunnel vision had activated.

For her, they had all the information they needed to justify busting into the place so after releasing he Chesnaught she made her way to the front of the warehouse. They were now in position and June was ready to get this party started.

”Okay on three we’re going to bust down these doors.” She said, readying the group for the upcoming storm.

”One…….two……..THREE!” And right on cue her Chesnaught shoulder tackled the door down but when the dust had cleared the sight they’d see wouldn’t be what June expected.

Sure there were some pirates in there but that was to be expected but what wasn’t to be expected were the officers that had departed earlier.

”Whaaa….?” And that was then that they were told the full picture. The warehouse the other officers had gone into was built in a way that there were hidden pathways that led to this one which is why they were here.

And while June and Iris were doing them investigating they had already bagged and tagged everyone.

So June and Iris were just in time to help them clean up everything and haul these pirates off. Well, that was after they got yelled at for leaving their post, which June took the brunt off since it was her idea in the first place.

”I can’t do anything around here! This is bullshit we should’ve been the ones to take these guys down. I hate this dumb job…..” Her words trailed off into a jumbled mess as she started to do the grunt work.
