[attr="class","stone i"]alexander takes a step back, mindful of the space as an onix appears, quickly filling the space of the room. it looks strong, disciplined, which he attributes to the efforts of its trainer.

"good. having protect in your arsenal could mean life and death." his eyes drift up to regard the onix. "what is important is how good he is at keeping you safe."

he takes a moment to gather his thoughts before continuing.

"it used to be different. pokemon would only be used against other pokemon, never against humans. but ever since rocket rose to power in kanto, that mentality quickly changed." he sighs. "we were forced to adapt to survive."

"most in the league are still against it. where do you stand, kaida?"

[attr="class","stone i"]her words are blunt, anger coating them as she responds. his eyes widen slightly at the mention of the incident, eyes drifting down to how she feels her side. but he leaves the thought to settle in the back of his mind for now.

"i used to disagree." he pauses. "but not anymore."

he is briefly reminded of the incident with illeana reyes. how the decidueye had shackled him to the wall, rendering him useless if not for his constant state of preparedness. even then, it was almost not enough to save her.

"our first priority should always be to restrain them through whatever means. but should the situation escalate, then i see no issues with killing them." he looks to kaida. "an eye for an eye, as they say."

[attr="class","stone i"]"i believe you," he offers with a smile, clearing tensions that once weighed down on them. while she may not be someone he can fully trust yet, he has a feeling she will be. and it's that thought that gives him a sense of confidence in the region. a sense of hope.

clearing his throat, he continues: "while vengeance is a powerful motivator, it also has the power to be your downfall. i would be careful not to let it cloud your judgement, kaida." similar words have been said before and the dread that fills him is all too familiar. he just hopes kaida considers his words.

"are you ready to continue training?"

[attr="class","stone i"]how could alexander possibly put his trust in a stranger? it would be foolish to do so out of a gut feeling. instead, he bases his trust on observation. kaida adachi is honest and determined. that is all he could ever ask for from an ally.

"good."

galahad is recalled and in his place are two bulky-looking pokemon. chessie rolls along the ground before jumping to his feet near the middle of the room. imbu stretches his arms and takes the more casual approach of walking to the middle. there, they wait.

"try and attack them."

[attr="class","stone i"]no orders come from alexander. he watches carefully at how the charizard and onix move, how they attack, and more importantly, how they react. his pokemon give him a glance as the attacks fly their direction, as if asking for permission. a nod is given.

the blue flames of the DRAGON BREATH illuminate the room as it licks away at its target. similarly, the FIRE SPIN wraps around the grass-type, flames swirling like a vortex as it looks to suffocate its target. both attacks are allowed a few seconds to exist.

chessie and imbu burst out of the flames, kept safe by SPIKY SHIELD and PROTECT, and charge right towards the charizard. at the very last moment, they swivel on their feet, almost in unison, and turn to run towards the onix instead.

the large, immobile frame of the onix makes it an easy target. HAMMER ARM and CLOSE COMBAT look to find purchase. they don't hold back, knowing the inevitable PROTECT that will save the onix.

"what do you see, kaida?"

[attr="class","stone i"]just as expected, a PROTECT shields the onix from the attacks. they clash against the invisible barrier and uses the momentum to bounce back, landing not too far away. the roar of the charizard announces its intentions, allowing them a brief moment to react.

imbu stands his ground against the impact, and though the pain is substantial, he digs his DRAGON CLAWS into the body of the charizard as he looks to hold it in place. his feet slide against the ground, tensing against the pushing force. and then imbu releases his hold and leaps back just in time to avoid chessie's ROLLOUT that looks to smack the charizard into the ground.

"they saw an opening in your positioning and took advantage of it. but your pokemon have good instincts, and now mine are forced to adapt." the battle continues in the foreground. "but they always work together."

[attr="class","stone i"]once again, the two fighting-types work in unison. imbu darts forward at the sight of the AIR SLASH, forming a PROTECT with his arms to take the full impact of the attack. his legs buckle as he redirects the attack to the side, hitting the ground soon after.

imbu paves the path for chessie to bounce up and off the ground in his ROLLOUT form, attempting to slam into the charizard in the air.

"i am counting on it."
