[attr="class","light"] a buneary had been seen whimpering from behind an oran tree. she seemed hungry, staring up into the oran berries above. as he eyed the hungry pokemon a sigh escaped him. removing lab coat and rolling up his sleeves. zenji would take the liberty of fetching the buneary something to eat.

it was surprised by the human's generous nature. once zenji successfully retrieved the berry, he'd return to the ground to hand it to the buneary. staring at the pokemon expressionless. his mouth would come to form a small smile. "i guess i'll have to take you back to the lab," he softly spoke. the pokemon would begin to feast upon the berry. as it did so a hand would come to be placed atop of its head.

"wanna come with me?" a ball was placed before it. "there's more food where that came from," god he sounded like a predator luring a child back to his minivan. if the buneary chose to come along with him then that was one objective taken care of.

[attr="class","light"] her ability to showcase weakness before someone she'd only just met was well worth praise. she spoke of emotions that zenji hadn't been very accustomed. were there times he held stress? yes. anger? his youth. confused? never, because everything he did he made sure to do it with his head held high. be it right or wrong.

second guessing himself wasn't something he could afford in this lifetime.

"it's normal." he responded casually. "i'm sure there are many who share your sentiment." behind his words there wasn't exactly any earnest feeling to give. it was normal to feel that way facing the unknown. "in all honesty, i'm a little jealous." he'd take out a cigarette and began to search for his lighter, "you got to experience something pretty nifty." at the cost of her life.

"ah, found it."

he'd take out a zippo lighter. with a single flick of the lighter's top. the casing opened and expelled from it was a torch. using it to light his cigarette, he'd take a drag before exhaling a cloud of air. "i'm sure someone like you must have gained something from that experience."

"is that in reference to the recent invasion?" a fresh thing that was yet to dwindle from the consciousness of many. it would be no surprise for her, being a gym leader, to worry about the future of those she trained. "maybe you aren't as self-absorbed as some would think."

in his way, though it came off monotoned, it was zenji teasing. it seemed the mood slightly trickled downward, so it was his way of trying to lift up her spirit. though, it was only an assumption. he didn't exactly need the woman going gloomy on him. "i read in the report that you were apart of it, several of the league member." he'd look over to her, "you weren't scared?"

[attr="class","light"] honest response. zenji wouldn't expect anything less from a gym leader. her answer was very superficial. he had to respect it.

"if there's one thing i can respect, it's honesty." a small smile would break his steel visage. this gym leader was an interesting, not what he had expected. "i guess even a gym leader has their faults." zenji would then come to follow up with an answer, "the center, that's right." anything entailing a pokemon was probably the only, or rather one of many, reasons for his presence.

"am i to assume you're a gym leader who prefers learning over winning?" he'd inquiry curiously. "meaning as long as they learn something from that battle, that's the only way they'll earn the badge? win or lose?"

[attr="class","light"] it was time for the weekly checkup. the pokemon were restless, some more than others didn't seem to be on their best behavior. meaning it was time to take them back to the lab and farm their growth there. with three pokeball ready to ensnare potential grabs. zenji would check on his computer to see the batch. "chimchar, tauros, duskull, and a few others..."

closing the device. he'd take hold of his equipment and started to survey the area any of the pokemon listed. "let's see who we can find first," the professor would say.

if that was the name she preferred, then he'd oblige. "alright, you can just call me zenji." formalities weren't exactly his thing. he found them to be too much of a hassle. his intention was to be get in and get out, but somehow he overstayed the time that was calculated for his departure.

how annoying.

he'd look back to Katherine Fairburne upon receiving her offer. "it would kill sometime, so if you want i've no qualms." it would give him a little more insight on the gym leader and what she was like anyway. "whenever you're ready, you can lead the way." he couldn't wait to get outside and pop stick. whenever their journey was set to start, zenji would choose to start the conversation off with a commentary on her gym.

"your design, why did you choose that?" he asked with curiosity.

there was only one response that came to mind, "the assignment's called selfcare." did he need to word it any other way? it was self-explanatory. "you need to learn that with a rested brain you can do so much more," zenji said. they were nearing their destination.

once they were to arrive and the car had been parked. zenji would step out of the vehicle and began to make his way toward the vicinity. once inside they would come to be greeted by the workers at the front entrance. "this is the magnolia inn, a famous inn found not too far from littleroot." whether bryan had been here before or not wasn't something he needed to know.

he was fine with explaining.

"it's a large facility owned by a family who's practically never set foot off the soil of hoenn, this place will feel like a third home." zenji only visited this facility once a year. today was that special day of the year. "the best part about this facility, aside from their spa and bathhouse, is that you can actually bathe in wine." yup, that's right. "this inn has a spa that bills itself as a "hot springs amusement park," allowing guests to unwind in baths of green tea, coffee or even red wine." every year this place found a way to install something new.

"they'll take good care of you, so whatever you want? they'll provide. it's all on me." which led him to ask bryan delarosa his next question, "we can do whatever you want, brat."

"not only that, but this data might prove useful to use in the future. we may just be able to find more ruins like." of course it was only a small theory, nothing he was really prepared to tackle at this time.

"for now, i think my work here is done." he could leave the rest up to the councilman. "porygon, lucario, we're returning." man he could really use a cigarette right now.

this report included arian coin's. those who were there to witness the phenomenon included a plethora of others. "if i'm not mistaken, it was a series of one of the first three ultra beast to appear, it's name dubbed 'guzzlord'." a name that made him groan in disgust each time he uttered it. whoever came up with these names needed to properly scolded.

"there was a distortion in the usage of their psychic-type's "teleportation" as well. thankfully, there was a reading done by one of aether foundation's esteemed heads during that entire arc." gathering the files while he spoke, lucario remained at ease. casually awaiting for another order. "i have the file here on the computer to the compare the distortions being emanated in these very ruins as we speak."

before his venture to these ruins, zenji had carefully been studying on what he has dubbed 'AUFWACHEN WAVEFORMS' "these phenomenon's all have a unique wave pattern to them, never before seen." he'd come to show the imagery of both, "on the left side are the ultra wormholes and when you compare that data to the right," he'd come to drag his hand to the other side, "these aufwachen waveforms, which i've dubbed, are both unique yet vastly different in pattern. though this side is rather weak due to where we're standing, if we had ventured further in there would be a stronger signal that it would possibly malfunction my computer and kill porygon in the process of its reading."

with just this small window, it was a miracle porygon even obtained a reading. "there's something in this ruin, be it a relic or pokemon, emanating a strong wave practically begging to be discovered." basically, to surmise, "the discovery of this ruin was no coincidence, something has definitely been awoken. whatever it is, i think with all the ultra wormholes that manifested in hoenn there's a possibility they had a hand in the unveiling of this ruin." we should practically be thanking the ultra beasts for this chance snag or uncover whatever was inside.

which led to what he wanted to say next, "which is why i believe you, maybe not in this life, will be the one to figure that out." a soft smile bypassed the steel expression zenji had been known for. "i believe in you, @sophia." upon saying her name was his way of acknowledging her. standing from his position and heading over to his desk, he'd come to fumble about a file cabinet.

"remember what i said earlier about this establishment? that to work here you'd have to be deranged?" a statement that was made earlier during their walk to this office. "i only work with those who have the brain of someone people would call mad, someone with the will to go above and beyond. ready to prove to those little by little the meaning behind this meaningless world." the institution evol wasn't just a place for researchers to work, learn, and grow.

"this place is like a second home to me, maybe even my first. the people i work with here are like family to me, and my wish to only see them all become the top professionals of their field." zenji would return to stand over the woman with a yellow envelop. "you have the potential to become just as deranged as us, i know you'll help change the world with your research. it may not be in this life," he'd hand the thick, large envelop over to sophia, "but maybe in your next. like you said, energy simply changes shape."

with that being all said and done, he'd add, "i already read your file that was sent over to me. to be honest, i was impressed. my decision was made the moment you came through those doors."

[attr="class","light"] zenji had only a short time to read the brief summary of that raid. there were a series of statements in the report that stood out to him. sigils, the spirit of a wailord, the malfunctioning of psychic-type abilities. it's honestly a mystery as to how they all survived.

"we owe all to the pokemon who lost their lives here. to calm the storms, open the door, with willing blood. for beyond it the titan pokemon waits."

he recited, in one sitting, the wording that was written in persephone amavi's statement of what she discovered in the expedition. "let's call it a miracle you weren't met with anything other than that 'titan'." if what they dealt with in the first chamber proved anything, it's that the second chamber that possibly resided beneath ( or above ) them may be no different.

"lucario, to me." lucario would come to hand the researcher his laptop. opening the device while placing his flashlight into the palm of his pokemon. he'd call out his porygon next. zenji would begin to type upon his device with a single. afterwards, he'd look to the porygon. "initiate protocol: 'pk-iat001', trace on." the porygon would come to emanate a holographic grid that would, in rhythm, pulsate on and off at a rate similar to a human heartbeat.

eventually, it would stop. he'd look to FERNANDO SILPH and then back to his device, "i hope you've got a raid team assembled, because we're getting waveform distortions." which would lead him into his explanation of this finding, "do you recall reading a report, or ever experiencing first hand," since fernando was well-known for taking to the field himself, "an unusual malfunction of psychic-type pokemon abilities during a raid?"

there was a reason zenji chose to come here and boy was he glad he had.

i actually really like your character. i love that she's a fashionista. so, my plot, is that i think she should design sygna suits and bring them to reality. if you wanna battle good you have to look good, right? which is where mateo and sceptile come in. their battle bond creates some sort of brain blast in that big, fashionable brain of hers. in doing so she has chosen to use him as her personal model. at first, mateo is a bit weirded out by that big, fashionable brain of hers. but then he kind of digs the idea of it, but secretly hates it.

then boom, mila is the headliner of hoenn weekly for her sense of fashion. other than that i am running on no sleep and barely functioning, but she just made me think of sygna suits and how fashionable and pokemon friendly they were.

i posted this on the wrong character, but yeah this is for mateo martinez.
