[break][break] the moment lasts only for a second, before they are brought back into the heat of the battle.

[break][break] artie races forward fast on his feet, throwing his sword out in front of him with another iron defense. he is able to parry a few of the attacks, however it only lasts so long. one of the black cyclones smash into the hilt of his blade, causing the sword to be thrown across the floor with a sharp clang.

[break][break] it's her win.

[break][break] the princling picks up the sword, sliding it back into it's hilt. his hand is still bleeding, however, which he cradles gingerly at his side.

[break][break] he smiles blithly at her. "how'd i do, melly?"

[break][break] his pokemon's blue ribbon attached to his wrist, sapping artie of his life force. it was something that the man was fairly used to, having had spent the majority of his childhood in the sport.

[break][break] the feathers come for him and his sword slashes through the air with night slash. a few land in his hair anyway, making him look a bit like a birdnest.

[attr="class","artie"] the air slash cuts through the air a little too quickly this time for him to be able to dodge. some of it slashes against his shirt, the fabric tearing slightly. he throws the blunt of the blade flat in front of him, forcing castor to take the brunt of the damage.

[break][break] this wouldn't last forever, though.

[break][break] "shadow sneak, castor!" sure enough, a dark energy coils around artie. it's unfitting for him, a person who is ordinarily so bright, but the black liquid seeps into the earth before him before snaking forward quickly, an attempt to attack the bird from behind.

the princling is unscathed by the attack. unsurprising, of course. even wild pokemon knew his importance!

[break][break] still, it seems like not everyone was so lucky.

[break][break] the blond frowns as he looks at the scar on Greyson Connors 's back. it looks terrible. though his own pokemon do quick work to deal him, artie waves his hand over anyway. "deimos, help him." a sweet scent fills the air as the sawsbuck uses aromatherapy -- while it wouldn't actually heal, it would at least provide the other man some comfort.

[break][break] it is a good thing that Stormy Silph has the skills of a wet nurse. he no longer has to worry about the other man.

[break][break] heading back over to the rubble facing the cave entrance, artie snaps his fingers. his kabutops obediently attempts to move some of the rubble away with ancient power and espeon does the same as he body glows with the power of psychic.

[break][break] normally, artie wasn't one for favors. people did things for him — not the other way around. perhaps put it to being humbled recently, or perhaps put it to just a change of whim, but the circhester prince suddenly felt in the mood.

[break][break] now no one could ever say that he was selfish, that he didn't care for the community.

[break][break] "just want me to take some photos? i can do that." he grinned at the other, as the supplies were handed over to him. so what if he didn't know anything about photography? no way that she had to know that.

[break][break] an hour later, artie was sitting on one of the tall cobblestone walls in ever grande city. as the rest of the populace milled about, artie could be seen squinting through a lense and capturing illegal, unsolicited photos of it's civilian population.

[break][break] in the lense, there was two shady-looking men grasping arms and participating in what looked like a dubious deal.

[break][break] ha, funny! they must have been going out for a nice mid-day lunch. snap. this was what that lady had wanted, right? normal civilians doing normal things? maybe?

a lot is happening. true to charm, artie of course pays attention to none of it. as Stormy Silph gives her protest, he simply reaches up and leans back into his arms, placing them behind his head. he grins. "why, i don't know what you're —"

[break][break] before he can say anything else, muck this whole mess up further, something sails into his jaw hard and fast. it slams into him like a freight train, throwing him to the ground in an instant.

[break][break] blue eyes are wide and shocked as they stare up at Celia Auclair . she had... punched him? hey, she'd punched him?!

[break][break] he nurses a hand to his cheek, speechless for once in his life.

[break][break] before he can come up with something to say, however, there was a rustle out of the bushes and a shriek — wait, was that artie's? — as a sceptile rushes out of the bushes, bloodthirsty and vicious for battle.

[break][break] it's only after helios leaps forward with a QUICK GUARD over the group that artie realizes it wasn't his own voice, but his pokemon's. the pokemon let out a cry of defiance as he defended his trainer, as well as the rest of the group, which gave artie ample time to get to his feet. he brushed the dirt off his pants, gaze suddenly serious, before he pointed at their assailant. "callie! apprehend him!"

[break][break] the ground rumbles as his kabuto uses STONE EDGE to attempt to encase their opponent in rock, or at the very least, close off the area around him.

"What's the best way to find the cutest pokemon, you ask? Well, you could do a lot of research and read a lot of books but where's the fun in that?"

[break][break] Moments after Zac Ramsay took the stage, Artie and his Pikachu followed. The blond was dressed in the same garments that he always was, with the exception of wearing a pikachu headband, which he also hands to the judges as he walks onto the platform.

[break][break] "What's the point when clearly the cutest pokemon is Pikachu!"

[break][break] His hands flashes out and Hermes jumps to form, letting out an adorable "CHUUU!" as he does so. He T-POSES briefly before NUZZLING his trainer cutely, sparks flying from his face onto Artie's face. The man does not seem to notice.

[break][break] "Why question if Pikachu are the cutest when society has already done the job for us? Look at all the Pikachu-merchandise available in stores: Pikachu backpacks, Pikachu designer handbags, Pikachu-themed shoes. Why, even Starboks has a promotion for a Pikachu-themed drinks right now!" Pulling out from seemingly nowhere, Artie pulls out a Starboks bag. From it, he pulls out several Pikachu-themed drinks which he walks forward and sets on the counter for the judges.

[break][break] "Not that it's needed, but Hermes. Why not show the judges why you are the best?"

[break][break] He reaches for his side, where his own Honedge is always held. He grabs the hilt of the blade, holding it parallel to him and watches as the Pikachu jumps atop it. Artie then pushes upwards, flinging the Pikachu mid-air into a somersault where he lands perfectly before the judges, letting out little hearts of ATTRACT as he does so. "CHUUU!" the pokemon says once again.

[break][break] Hermes then skitters back to Artie's side, just as the prince is giving a bow.
