He's already in the midst, ramming into grunts before they can call upon reinforcements. Flanked on all sides, the Luxray yowls as he unleashes yet another electrifying storm.[break][break]

Constellations burst into life as she throws her hand out towards the Rockets, a Springtide Storm howling with the cacophony of her heart as it sets itself to do one thing: Defend Reiner at any cost. And it only grows stronger as Mesprit exerts their control over the sudden surge, drawing upon the wellspring of emotions and sharing them with the Genesect that remain ignorant to their own hearts.[break][break]

Why would they fight for those who simply wish to hurt others? For those who see them as nothing but disposable tools? All at once, the Genesect begin to hesitate, looking to each other as if looking for answers to the conflict that arises in their systems.[break][break]

As soon as Hideo unties the first ranger, they refuse to simply tuck tail and run, hopping onto their fellow ranger's binds and working through it with a knife. And it is a cascade of events, those who work fast free the others whereas the others call out the last remnants of their teams to help take the Rockets down. Without the threat of a thousand Techno Blast being fired about, the once hopeless situation begins to turn on its head.

[attr="class","eris109"]It's a wonder how they've never gotten lost in these tunnels. There are countless paths, seemingly unending as they wind and snake through the bottomless belly of a beast. With one momentary slip in attention, you could wind up unable to tell left from right, being turned around without so much as a clue that anything has changed.[break][break]

Thankfully, Reiner is very good at keeping his bearings. Even as his presence melts into the shadows, his presence remains ever strong as he presses his flank against Eris' side. And it is only with him by her side that the nerves remain at bay, the stars that weave and whisper of their bond burning gently against the dark.[break][break]

Finally, her voice breaks the monotony of crunching footfall and quiet breaths.[break][break]

Instead, when she opens her eyes once more, she is greeted by the sight of two Ogerpon interacting with one another. And she'd be a liar if she said that she didn't half expect Ogerpon to snatch that mask away from its simulated self.[break][break]

Ah, but she knows just how this scenario plays out. And she immediately starts to pull her jacket off, nerves prickling at the exposed scars on her arms even as she whispers to herself that this is meant to help another. To help the now unmasked Ogerpon hide from the NPCs around them before everything turns sour.[break][break]

But perhaps, it just isn't enough.

Which is much easier said than done. But after fighting incarnations of the lands, outer world invaders and elder gods, what is an ice pony?[break][break]

Withdrawing Ako before she lets loose once more, Eris only has seconds to push Cass right as the Glastrier tosses an icicle towards them. And how cold its surface is, a bitter anger reflected in jagged ice as her fingers grasp at a blade that doesn't exist.[break][break]

Why does it rampage about? What does it seek from this village? Ploughing its way through toiled fields and nosing its way into barrels of water that quickly turn to frost. Destroying bales of neatly stacked hay, wrecking painstakingly stacked stone fences.[break][break]

Just because it can get away with it.[break][break]

Reaching down to pick a rock covered in rime, Eris takes careful aim and hits that frozen mane with a dull clatter.[break][break]

With that very fact in mind, that look she gives to Reiner ties him to the spot. And she can't tell whether that narrowed gaze speaks of his anger for how she doesn't trust him now, or for how they stand here attempting to interfere in something far beyond them.[break][break]

Mesprit remains ignorant to the stand-off between the duo, instead far more focused on whining to Uxie that they can't sense anything from the Genesect. Is there meant to be a chapter on the ethics of emotionally manipulating a machine? What does Azelf think?[break][break]

When they glance to Eris, they can see the way she's already clutching her pokeball, the way her eyes widen at the grunts standing around. Her heart is a strange pot of emotions, the swirling base of anxiety mixed with a lick of relief, a dose of fear, a dash of hesitance. Now that she has seen with her very eyes that her brother is nowhere to be found, does her will begin to waver?[break][break]

We have to help them.[break]

We can just leave.

He's elsewhere.[break]

No, please -

The wind rises, a howl carried along its path as the world breathes anew. Despite Eris' wishes, Reiner makes the first move, cloaked in a veil of electricity as he rushes towards the grunts. In the brief fraction where they are caught by surprise, he Discharges the energy he's gathered, paralysing the Genesects closest to him. And Mesprit quickly follows, exuding a wave of Confusion as they begin to work their influence upon cold machinery.

Taking a quiet breath in, she closes her eyes lest the anger that burns with Isaac's name being brought up makes him cower.[break][break]

Wearing the guise of flesh and bone, such as the one lying before her very eyes. Monsters humming a lie, a lullaby.[break][break]

"Rot within the League that helps creates more tragedies than miracles. And it can't be helped because no one ever holds them accountable in a region as unstable as this."

A moment of weakness in Reiner's grip allows her the chance to snatch her wrist from him.[break][break]

"You heard him." Tagging onto Hideo's determination and purpose burns the grounds on which the Luxray attempts to argue against her. "We're going."[break][break]

And yet the feline continues to resist the flow of events, snarling at just how easily they throw themselves towards danger. So much so that Mesprit begins to pipe up, gently chirruping at Azelf and Uxie as if asking their opinion on the matter .[break][break]

But none of that will matter when Eris makes the first move, taking the lead with the directions freshly imprinted in her mind.

Reaching over brings back many memories, ones that she quickly settles into as she fiddles with the radio. The crackling of channels, the way they communicate the necessary information...[break][break]

Something is wrong. Those voices that crowd the static, the way they speak to one another, the crooning of lasers that punctuates each relay. Her eyes dart towards the immobilised Genesect, then back to the device in her hands. And before she knows it, she's taking that step towards open streets, the directions ringing loud and clear in her head.[break][break]

No.[break][break]

Reiner's tail wraps around her arm, frustration making him pull her back a little too roughly as she yelps and nearly falls. But a few quick steps saves her balance, her teeth gritted as she tries to pry that tail off her.[break][break]

"Reiner!"[break][break]

He will not let go, not when he knows that this isn't the way back home. Not when he too, begins to understand the true threat they're facing.[break][break]

"We have to go there!"[break][break]

Towards those group of cornered rangers, towards any place that whispers a possibility of his presence.

Everyone holds just as much potential to help as they do to harm. The same goes of her, even with her supposedly near-omniscient abilities in this very moment. And that realisation means that knife that she holds within her hands is naught but a dull blade, one that cracks and crumbles despite the fiery beast that burns within her belly.[break][break]

"Those who wish to leave Rocket. Those who wish to change. Save them, protect them. Give them a new chance at life."[break][break]

In truth, there is nothing she can hold over him. Her voice will forever be silenced by a monolith that claims itself to be bettering the region. There is no telling if he is truly earnest in his pleas, or he is simply grasping at straws because he thinks her capable of taking his life here and now. There's no way of knowing whether he actually understands anything she's said, whether he'll even remember any of this when he wakes. For however much power she may have here, she has no way of knowing if he'll take any of her request to heart.[break][break]

But what else can she do, except place her faith in someone who wishes for another chance?[break][break]

Even if he could be lying and hurt us again?[break][break]

Even if he were thinking of ways to kill us for good.

Her now empty hands hover above his head. His gaze remains distorted, looking everywhere but at her. Fear whispers in her ears, a writhing thought that those sharp teeth might just bite into her flesh if she dares touch him. And yet, she eventually dares to rest her palms against where his eyes must be, gentle as if attempting to touch a bed of thorns; blinding him to the grief that must be written all over her face.[break][break]

Helping the person that had once tried to kill her? She must be losing it. Still, in the end, this is nothing but a memory that will fade to the back of his mind in the face of a burning region.[break][break]

"Save more lives than you harm."[break][break]

"And if the day ever comes that you must choose between your god and another life, I hope you make the right choice."

[attr="class","eris109"]Endless blue skies, gentle waves lapping at soft sand. Amidst a chorus of fry-seeking Wingulls, there is a Wooper that sings her love for the sea. Oh, Nessie in her blissful little ways, floating along with the sea foam and wooping in delight at how those bubbles tickle her cheeks.[break][break]

At a glance, one might wonder why this little pokemon is all alone out at sea. Danger lurks beneath the surface, a pair of young Popplio frantically swimming in circles. With the speed at which they rush about, they pay no heed to the many other swimmers in the sea, churning and disrupting the waters. But this Wooper of the Lake is wise beyond mortal comprehension, cooing to the skies as she begins to glow with an unexplainable Cosmic Power, drawing the eyes of the little ones.[break][break]

All at once, the Popplios slow, approaching with caution until they finally break the surface. And they begin to sing to Nessie, who turns to look at them with wide eyes. Lost pups? Well, that definitely isn't good. Nodding in deep thought, the Wooper eventually comes to make a decision, signalling to the duo to follow as she dives down.[break][break]

This wasn't part of the job description, but if it'll help make the waters a little safer, she doesn't quite mind going on a short hunt!

A few minutes to let the thoughts in her mind ebb and flow, wash over her; scoop her up from underneath, throw her upwards before it all inevitably comes crashing back down. Silence is her mantle, the other two far more able to wrestle with the situation. One with a nauseating hint of excitement and the other with that similarly crushing weight of uncertainty.[break][break]

"I'm... gonna walk... to the florist."[break][break]

Fresh air will do her good. Reiner's head tucks under her arm, gently prying it away from her curled up self until he has enough room to work with and pull her onto his back. Dipping his head towards the other two, he shoots Mesprit a side-eye. It is a question. One that the pixie of emotion tosses and turns for a bit, pouting their lips as they consider whether abandoning this Schrodinger's pizza and Uxie's defeat is truly worth it. Eventually they shrug, an illusion draped over them as they transform into a Ralts.[break][break]

And with a final cheery wave from the sprite, the trio disappear with a click of the door.
