POKEMON LIFEGUARDS ARE REQUESTED at the Slateport shoreline for the swimming public. However, some are deployed to keep a look out for possible Rocket incursions as tensions of war rise to a peak in late July. To further complicate matters, some swimmers may be hindered by aggressive or fleeing sea-based Pokemon due to the Kyogre's active presence in the depths...

LOCATION: Slateport Beach.
REQ: WATER-type PKMN.

after you have gathered the necessary players, create a thread in the specified board. you will be roleplaying as the pokemon your character has sent for the job.

all you need to do is write one post detailing how your pokemon is performing the job! once everyone has made a post and the thread is ready to be archived, notify SHIV in the moderation requests. feel free to continue the thread past one post—but the thread will not garner any extra rewards.

The beach was a great place to be dispatched for protection. Jellicent floated along the ocean waves and kept an easy watch. That was, until a crate from some ship floated over. Inside were bottles, but it was largely broken glass. The glass had been spilling out of the crate, so he had to act fast. He generated a whirlpool and kept the crate and its broken contents from spreading further towards the shore. There was no telling how many people could get cut up by the glass.

Jellicent used his body to discourage a surfing civilian from getting too close. Thankfully, she also saw the whirlpool in the way which would stop her from crashing a big wave. She directed herself away while Jellicent moved the whirlpool along to the oceanside rocks where he could toss the captured swirling glass against the rocks and the pressurized water of his own whirlpool, slowly but surely turning the shards into small and unnoticeable pieces that would soon become one with the sand.

finally, an open space wide enough to stretch one's amphibious muscles. or at least, this was a thought pacing through the mind of a certain bubbly frog pokémon as he cautiously surveyed the shorelines, waves gently drifting across and underneath his webbed feet. as he looked on, a wayward volleyball came flying over in his direction. the frogadier instinctively manuevered to bounce high up, and spike the ball back towards whence it came. the chances of a fellow beachgoer getting bonked by it were averted - at least for the moment.

turning his attention to the vast waters, the frog pokémon noted a pair of swimmers dangerously approaching the boundary of the sanctioned territory. quickly, the frogadier took to the waters himself, pushing through at an incomparable pace, setting up a double team - mirror images of the frogadier forming a barricade near a row of buoys that marked potentially hazardous waters beyond them. just as the swimmers would be blocked a small school of fish - carvanha - emerged, only to be meet with a devastating hydro pump from the frogadier.

the swimmers swiftly retreated en route to the shores. declaring that they were safe now, the frog pokémon's spitting images dispersed.

Beau recalled a time that he would have loved nothing more than an assignment to Slateport Beach; he knew he'd donated enough of his free time to it of his own accord, reminiscing on the first meeting he'd had, two years ago now, with jack wainwright as he'd inadvertently strong-armed the other man into helping him clean the beach up just so people could still enjoy it. To go to the beach AND get paid for it? That would have been the dream.

Now, the shoreline a faint golden smudge in the distance, he reflected that circumstances had changed considerably since that day, and he lamented them only a little. Tiny, his Wailord, floated placidly half-submerged in the gently-peaking seawater, while Beau himself slouched in a small motorboat alongside the whale, eyes on the horizon for any signs of activity that would otherwise threaten the beach or those closer to the shallows.

He wouldn't have thought that Rocket would attack Slateport Beach in broad daylight, but he'd thought the same about Dewford, and the rebuilding taking place was a visible and painful reminder of how wrong he'd been in that assumption. Today, though, was different; instead of black-clad figures on a flotilla of rafts and ships, it was a sudden disturbance in the pattern of waves that caught his eye, a change in the movement of the water, a wrongness that surged toward the mainland from the open sea.

"Get 'em, Tiny!" he called out. The Wailord answered with a keening, low cry, DIVING beneath the surface of the water. Submerged, the enormous pokemon opened his mouth to unleash a torrent of pressurized water in the direction of the advancing school, driving the aquatic pokemon up and away from their intended destination.

A cluster of Whiscash and Feebas bobbed indiscriminately above the waves, their initial panic distorted into confusion at the sudden redirection of their path. Righting themselves as Tiny's HYDRO PUMP settled, they set about swimming laterally, back and forth, just outside the perimeter that had been set up for safe use by the local authorities.

Beau hoped that a few rogue fish was all they'd see today - no bad guys, and no sign of what those pokemon had been running from.

The Galarian ambassador takes her Shellder to the Slateport beach since the female water type Pokemon would be tasked to watch for the swimmers in the water. Eyes from the Shellder look at a female swimmer that would be swimming close to the deep part of the water. Knowing that Kyogre’s influence in the sea would bring aggressive water type Pokemon to attack the brunette woman, Abysstrite springs to action.[break][break]

A Huntail that comes up to the surface speeds towards the female brunette swimmer that Abysstrite does her guarding duty for. Fortunately, the female Shellder is able to see the speeding Pokemon and when she knows the Pokemon is coming for the swimmer aggressively as they come, she shoots out an Ice Beam to stop the Huntail from reaching her charge. [break][break]

The ice forms a wall that the Huntail can’t go through and the elongated water type Pokemon gives up in harming the swimmer. It swims away as the Shellder continues to watch the female swimmer for a while, the watchful eye of the shellfish Pokemon ensures that the swimmer is safer now. [break][break]

"Good job!" Elise calls out to praise the Shellder and the shellfish Pokemon jumps up happily from the water in reply though the water splashes onto another swimmer.

Humans did not belong at sea. The ocean was an unforgiving place where the bigger fish ate the smaller one. And yet, none of these happy-go-lucky beach-goers had gotten the memo.

A young boy floated on his inflatable tube, blissfully unaware of the underwater shadow that stalked him. A dorsal fin jumped out, followed by the wild Sharpedo it was attached to, jaws wide open to turn the little kid into a snack.

Suddenly, a much larger Gyarados emerged from the tumultuous waters, using its serpentine body like a Dragon Hammer to wallop the shark, saving the boy in the nick of time.

At first, the boy was terrified of the red leviathan. However, after realizing that it was docile, he thanked it, before swimming back to his worried mother, hopefully never to make the mistake of going out at sea again.

The summer season had become rather precarious in spite of the leisure that was supposed to come with the change in the weather. The shorelines of slateport weren't safe, for many different reasons, not the least of which being that constant patrols had to be on the watch for rockets that looked to encroach upon the mainland. However, the weather itself, the changes in the ocean tides and the insurgence of the legendary Pokémon that raged through the depths brought that much more to the shores.[break][break]
Daikenki swam through the depths on the outer edges of the beach perimeter. The buoy marked a clear line that swimmers and civilians were not to cross, but that didn't mean that Pokémon from the outer waters followed the rules. The Samurott's keen senses caught on to something rushing through the water, whiskers twitching as he turned to look, and found a Sharpedo primed and ready to get at the multitude of people and Pokémon that were in the waters beyond. Daikenki drew his seamitars and rushed towards the shark, keen on keeping the Sharpedo at bay and sending it back into the depths to maintain his perimeter.

[attr="class","eris109"]Endless blue skies, gentle waves lapping at soft sand. Amidst a chorus of fry-seeking Wingulls, there is a Wooper that sings her love for the sea. Oh, Nessie in her blissful little ways, floating along with the sea foam and wooping in delight at how those bubbles tickle her cheeks.[break][break]

At a glance, one might wonder why this little pokemon is all alone out at sea. Danger lurks beneath the surface, a pair of young Popplio frantically swimming in circles. With the speed at which they rush about, they pay no heed to the many other swimmers in the sea, churning and disrupting the waters. But this Wooper of the Lake is wise beyond mortal comprehension, cooing to the skies as she begins to glow with an unexplainable Cosmic Power, drawing the eyes of the little ones.[break][break]

All at once, the Popplios slow, approaching with caution until they finally break the surface. And they begin to sing to Nessie, who turns to look at them with wide eyes. Lost pups? Well, that definitely isn't good. Nodding in deep thought, the Wooper eventually comes to make a decision, signalling to the duo to follow as she dives down.[break][break]

This wasn't part of the job description, but if it'll help make the waters a little safer, she doesn't quite mind going on a short hunt!

Staccato missed Josh; with the war starting, the Gym Leader had been stationed near Sootopolis and Ever Grande. He had kept the Primarina and several of his other more gentle water Pokémon busy taking on shifts at Slateport Beach. From time to time, swimmers would catch a glimpse of the saddle on the fairy-type's back, recognizing the two Ranger and League logos on it. The singing Pokémon could have belonged only to Mauville's Gym Leader. A few younger swimmers asked if they could go for a ride on the Primarina. Staccato shook his head in response, his saddle only to ferry the endangered back to safety.

The impact of Whiskers' DRAGON HAMMER created a wave that capsized a small inflatable, Staccato quick to notice the kicking legs flailing about the surface. Swimming into action, he flailed his tail back and forth in a swift AQUA JET, putting on the brakes as to not impact the occupant's body with concussive force.
