His black, middle-cut hair is almost always a mess from never being combed. Tall and big-boned, his build makes him look a lot more intimidating than he actually is.

A Gold-Class Pokémon Racer from the Johto Cup looking to turn pro, his travels have taken him to Hoenn to take home the Silph Cup as well. During the off-season, he used to partake in the Gym Challenge, but now is Mauville City's Gym Leader. He possesses five Johto League Gym Badges. He has turned his obsession with fast Pokémon into a career that he feels forms a greater bond than simple battles, requiring Pokémon and rider to coordinate on a brand new level.

Wanted Plots

Pokémon Racers: Anyone who shares his passion for riding extremely fast Pokémon in competition. He loves Electric, Fire, Flying, and Dragon-type Pokémon in general. Any trainers who love those types of Pokémon, he'll be able to find common ground with.

Pokémon Breeders: Josh is willing to pay large sums of money to have Pokémon bred for racing.

League Officials and Avatars: Josh is looking to establish connections with high-ranking League officials, such as other Gym Leaders and those connected with the A.Q.U.A. Initiative. While he no longer dedicates his entire life to the pursuit of Raikou, his interest in legendary Pokémon makes him interested in hearing from Avatars what it is like to be one.

Pokémon Trainers: While Josh doesn't do the Gym Challenge anymore, he's still down for a good old-fashioned regulation battle at his Gym!

Josh has a tendency to take things at face value, and has a tendency to act first and think later. He is very introverted around people that do not share interests, but he is a social animal in niche communities around his interests. He has a tendency to voice thoughts aloud. He has no poker face whatsoever, and it is easy for anyone to tell when he is not being forthcoming. He has a rash yet empathetic personality, and often tries to take responsibility for unfortunate situations he feels he has put others in but are not actually his fault. This can lead to him being easily taken advantage of. Nonetheless, his heart is in the right place; he believes justice and good always triumph over malice and evil in the end. He has a strong work ethic, and is a good person overall.

Since he was a child, Josh has loved studying the lore of legendary Pokémon in general. His phone wallpaper is a crop of an artist's rendition of a first-person perspective from Raikou's back while the electric Beast carries him across the land. While he has, through blood, sweat, and tears, bottled his obsession with Raikou back into a mere dream, he is still interested in legendary Pokémon in general. One of his goals is to meet and ride on the backs of as many different legendary Pokémon as possible. These can be opportunities for Avatars to showcase their Patrons in low-stakes settings. Josh is deeply interested in collaborating with people that study Raikou, or anyone who has history with Raikou, Entei, or Suicune. I am especially interested in threading with characters who are interested in pursuing Raikou or Suicune! Josh is also interested in completing any AQUA Initiative missions, as part of developing his position in AQUA: Sapphire.

Josh has a vendetta against Team Rocket after their occupation of Goldenrod's Radio Tower. He is always down for Rocket busting of some kind, especially missions in which speedy Pokémon are particularly helpful.

Josh is always down for a contest of speed with Pokémon. If you have a character interested in that kind of competition, DM me! I'm always up for writing that kind of thread! He also is Mauville Gym's Leader with a Non-Traditional Challenge of a Pokémon race.

Though he has little time for it now, Josh loves rhythm games, and just video games in general. He loves going to the arcade's rhythm game section and playing what they have, whether it be Step Step Revolution or hand games, and playing at high levels in front of crowds.

akira - Josh met this teacher when brought to help teach a high school elective about riding Pokémon.

angelo vestri - The two met through a delivery for Delibird Deliveries, and briefly spoke about his Nautica venture.

Asher Baran - These two met in a Slateport brawl. Since then, he has opened Josh's eyes into the cruel reality of what it is like to be at the bottom of Rocket, and helped Josh reconsider his scorched-earth view of Rocket.

Ashley Shepard - The two met on a camping trip but have done little since.

Brynnhildr Erling  - The two met when she gave Josh advice on his Shiny Pyroar's rehab.

Callan Young - The two met as part of a Gym Challenge. Though this member of the Elite Four seems interested in cultivating his battle skills to truly make him a good Gym Leader. While their relationship has been growing, Josh is too intimidated by his stern personality to think of him as a true friend. He thinks it is possible Callan is an Avatar.

Chu-e Choi - Josh met them by helping them move after their prison sentence. He learned a lot about Rocket's relationship with Raikou in the Kanto War, and was ultimately the spark for him wanting to repent for his horrible actions against Eris Halla .

ana fell - Josh knows this Rocket agent under the pseudonym "Swan". She worked with Josh in an operation to apprehend the Drift King of Red Canyon. He thinks they could be good friends if they spent more time together.

dahlia goode - The two met not long after Josh became a Gym Leader. Her advice was integral in getting Josh to see both sides of the League-Rocket conflict for what they were.

Delilah Silph - The two met through an inquiry into Mauville Gym.

Eris Halla - Josh knows Eris by her League persona, and they are good acquaintances but not yet friends. His relationship with Eris is complicated. In his obsession with Raikou, he discovered that Rocket was largely responsible for Raikou's "death" in the Kanto War. During a routine transfer operation, he physically lashed out at her, trying to get leads on who could have been responsible. The aftermath of that event forever reshaped his life, for better or for worse.

FERNANDO SILPH - The two met doing work for the VALOR Initiative. More recently he has opened Josh's eyes to how harsh being an Avatar can be. As condescending as his remarks were, they were integral in bottling up Josh's obsession with Raikou.

Finnegan Yang - Josh learned how to use a sword from him.

freya morningstar - The two met doing work for the VALOR Initiative.

Genevieve Cromwell - The two meant during a survey of the frozen Great Desert.

Alexei Ivanov - Josh met the Birdfather through a Gym Challenge, achieving the first score of zero in the history of Fortree Gym's obstacle course. Alex awarded him the Skyrider Badge for his pure tenacity. Since then, the two have resonated with one another through their efforts to chase down different, extremely fast legendary Pokémon. The two have shared stories of legendary Pokémon with one another, and have become close friends!

Andrea Vaneau - The two met over their love of dragons. He has since drawn her into the sport of Pokémon racing. The two even went into space together.

annalise henderson - Mauville's Ranger-Captain, she helped Josh attain the rank of Senior Ranger through placement exam. Now that Josh is an Elite Ranger and Mauville's Gym Leader, they practically run Mauville City together.

CIAN MAHER - The two met on a vacation to Johto to see Josh's parents. Since then, they have bonded through the Gym program. 

El Sunderland - The two met at the Battle of Dewford, and Josh has since bonded with them through Ranger work and their love of racing Pokémon.

Elinor Anderson - A League official. She helped Josh calm down after he suffered an emotional breakdown after defending a shrine to his childhood idol. She is his Ranger mentor, and a source of emotional support for the rare occasion his emotions become shattered. She was the first person to know of Josh's desire to meet and befriend the Legendary Pokémon Raikou. She has played a major role in Josh's development as a Gym Leader.

Elise Calcifet - The two met by happenstance in the Mount Pyre area. Since they, they have been great friends and even coworkers.

Eva Morales - Josh entered a Pokémon race with her, the two spending a surprising amount of time close to one another in the standings! After she became Rayquaza's Avatar, their friendship blossomed riding the emerald serpent. She helped Josh get out of the dumps after his obsession with Raikou nearly destroyed him, letting him take a step back from Raikou to focus on his own well-being.

Ettie - The two met by happenstance in the Fortree area. They have since bonded over their love of quadrupedal Pokémon, though for vastly different reasons. Their friendship blossomed when Josh showed Ettie his entire army of Pokémon, their day-long romp exciting the wild child and getting her excited to race Pokémon.

ghost fireheart - The two met through Ranger work, and have since bonded with one another by their pursuit of different electric legendary Pokémon. They are both dragon lovers, and frequently take Ranger tickets where riding their Salamence together would be advantageous.

Isaac Merlo - Josh met him during a three-day, fully off-grid camping trip, and the two have found much common ground since. Josh saved his life during a riding accident one day. The two have a complicated relationship. He and Julia Davis are the only people within the League to know that Isaac and Blackjack are the same person. Knowing this, Josh wants to do everything in his power to exfiltrate Isaac out of Rocket.

Josh Dragomir - The two met when Josh was practicing with his Sharpedo for an upcoming race. The two have developed a business-like relationship with one another, serving as a Ranger mentee under Mr. Dragomir, and is one of only a few Rangers that genuinely supports Josh's pursuit of Raikou, although cautiously so.

Julia Davis - Josh met her during a camping trip, and the two have done a lot of Ranger work together since. They also have spent a lot of time together at the Round One Arcades in Slateport and Mauville.

kyle lopez - The current Hoenn Champion and former director of the Minor League program. Their relationship started from being his very first Gym challenger, and blossomed into a strong friendship after he discovered Kyle is Ho-oh's Avatar. After surprising him with the ultimate birthday present, Josh looks for any excuse he can to hop on Kyle's Raikou-familiar.

Laurence Anderson - Josh met the Head Ranger at the gathering in Lilycove. Since then, the Head Ranger has taken an interest in Josh due to his desire for the legendary Pokémon Raikou. He presented Josh with his Elite Ranger uniform, badge, and armband for his help in relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Yellen.

Michael Navidson - Josh ran into Navy through a Space-Time Distortion and shared his love of Pokémon Racing with the young man. Since then, the Officer and Gym Leader has become a great friend and pillar of emotional support for him.

Melody Miro - Josh met Cobalion's Chosen on a mission to investigate why Mightyena were causing so much trouble on the streets of Oldale at night. He has recently been able to imply Melody is a member of the AQUA Initiative, and wants to learn more about it through her as a means to help pursue Raikou. Since then, she has taken particular interest in Josh's Champion Assessment, being the one to see the good in him. She knows Josh wants to be Raikou's Avatar.

vanessa rosiello - The two met through happenstance. She is Josh's greatest racing fan, and the two passed on their racing knowledge to one another. Her outside-the-box Pokémon redefined in Josh's eyes what Pokémon could serve as mounts.

Enemies:

Amor Rose - The two met as part of a Gym Challenge. They are bitter enemies after the Battle of Mount Pyre, where Katherine Fairburne had saved his life after the scientist used the speed of Josh's borrowed Zeraora steed to his advantage. Josh has suffered crushing defeat after crushing defeat at his hands, and is one of his motivations for seeking divine power.

Calpurnia Kubrick - The two met at the Battle of Dewford, through he only knows her as an enemy of war.

Cillian Quinn  - Josh met the Lugia Avatar by happenstance when learning how to race his Zeraora. The two had an extremely one-sided battle that showed Josh his place, influencing him to believe that a legendary Pokémon can be defeated only by another legendary Pokémon. This led to his obsession with Raikou peaking and making it all the more difficult for him to leave that obsession behind. He still lives in fear of when the Harbinger beat him to within an inch of his life.

Elisabeth Fiorelli - The two met at a masquerade. Since then, they have found themselves bitter enemies after she laid waste to Shalin Nariya 's Romping Grounds in Petalburg. Her Avatarship with Wo-Chien is one of Josh's motivators for seeking divine power himself, Raikou or otherwise.

elijah gardner - The two met in the Battle of Dewford, though he only knows him as an enemy of war.

MATIAS SILPH - Josh met the Groudon Avatar on a mission to rescue an Elite Ranger and three others from a cable car accident involving foul play. After seeing him survive boiling heat, the two met at an Alto Maren restaurant to discuss the mission. The two shared some of their deepest secrets. He knows Josh wants to be Raikou's Avatar. Unfortunately, that relationship was shattered when he believes Matias used knowledge of those secrets to manipulate him behind the scenes. While his relationship with Matias is not murderous, he feels the Volatile has ruined his life and manipulated him into the actions against Eris Halla that led to his suspension as a Gym Leader and other sanctions. He cannot understand how a standing member of the Elite Four can exercise such scorched-earth tactics against Rocket, and blames him for cultivating such rashness in him.

Kouji Matsubara - The two met in the Battle of Dewford, though he only knows him as an enemy of war.

Razz Kingsman - Josh met him at the Ranger gathering in Lilycove. Ever since he slung a verbal low blow toward Matt Vice , the two have always clashed with one another. He would prefer if the two never crossed paths again.

Archived:

boruta maher - This Ranger Captain oversaw one of Josh's Ranger missions where he truly learned how valuable outside-the-box thinking can be.

CJ Mizikar - Josh met CJ when he thought he saw a wild Jolteon and nearly tried to capture it, but was actually Kinnick! The two made small talk with one another but haven't talked about being long-term friends yet.

guy st-vincent - Josh met him as part of his first truly dangerous Ranger mission: protecting him through a trip into the Mirage Palace, a Soft No-Rescue zone full of fire Pokémon that were also masters of illusion.

Ned Clark - Josh ran into Ned through a Space-Time Distortion.

nicodemus unken - Josh ran into Nico through Matt. He is concerned his intimidating first impression will keep his relationship with Nico from blossoming into a true friendship.

Matt Vice - Josh ran into Matt on the road east of Fortree, as well as while doing volunteer work for Splashfest. Both of them love Pokémon racing, and Josh is working on developing Matt's skills to have his Arcanine be a true force on the circuit. Since the events of Rangers Rising, they have been almost inseparable.

Matus Baran - Better known as the Drift King, Josh may be the only person that knows Matus' true name. After given a second chance at life post-acquittal, he has become Josh's single biggest racing rival, though he still considers Matus a friend. Matus might not consider him a friend yet, though.
