"Great to see you again, Kyle!" Josh waved from aboard his Sharpedo. "My regards to the Great One and Raikou. How have they been doing? I haven't seen them since Meteno." He wanted to bring up the League report about Eris, but it would only serve as an unnecessary distraction. They would need to discuss it eventually, though. Perhaps after their delivery mission was over, they could discuss it.

The Gym Leader shook his head, then gave his briefing. "We've made a lap around the island, and there's only one beach that's lightly guarded enough to try to break through and get this medicine to Pokémon that need it. It's on the south side, and my Pokémon will have to swim through a long channel to get them there. I would have airlifted them, but air travel isn't an option. Rocket's really stepped up anti-air defenses." That measure was partially in response to the operation Josh completed with El Sunderland . "Rielle and Torvie can fight on land," Josh gestured toward his saddled Vaporeon and Swampert, supply tubs strapped to their backs. "But most of my heavy hitters are on the mend. Might need your help when we run into resistance." Internally, he prayed Raikou would make an appearance. He dreamed of getting to fight from Raikou's thundercloud saddle, especially now that he learned how to wield a sword at Finnegan Yang 's school.

Josh's eyes lit up when he felt the north wind suddenly howl around him. "Whoa! Suicune, too? Not just Raikou?" he asked Kyle. "I... I didn't know you had both at your beck and call! You're amazing!" He wouldn't spend too much time gawking over the appearance of the Beast of Winds, though; if the legendary-familiar allowed it, he would gently give the water-type's crown a pat before climbing aboard. "Alright, Suicune, let's give Rocket hell!" The Beast's purr rattled Josh, much like it did the day he rode Raikou. If he knew Suicune well, this Beast didn't have quite the speed Raikou did, but was more than fast enough.

Josh's skin tingled again, this time not from the purring, but from the feeling of possibly having control over the wind itself. If Suicune would take Josh's commands, he would have the Beast attempt to blow the first wave of grunts off their feet with a TAILWIND, the remainder of his Pokémon advancing and pelting them and any Pokémon they sent out with various ranged water attacks. It would attract attention from the next wave, but would they have the courage to resist a Pokémon that could run faster than the winds of the most powerful hurricane in recorded history?

In the event Suicune wouldn't let Josh aboard, he would simply get back on his Sharpedo, send out Keiga, and have her line up a LASER FOCUSed HYDRO PUMP to ambush the entire front line.

Kyle was right. Josh was going too fast. Then again, how couldn't he? He was riding Suicune, a Pokémon whose source of speed was highly localized hurricane-force winds at its back. It was not often he got to live the joy of riding on a Beast. Now was not the time to go faster than a race car, though; he would have plenty of time to enjoy a run on Suicune's back when their supply drop had been completed. His skin tingled; he was going to be astride a Beast in battle. Between the legendary familiar and the Silvally, the front-liners in Rocket and their Pokémon were hopelessly outmatched.

Taking Kyle's advice, Josh 'reined' Suicune back, the Beast of Winds sliding onto the channel's surface and kicking up a massive wave of SURF that knocked many of the remaining Pokémon their enemies were holding the line with off their feet. If Raikou's specialty was raw speed, Suicune's was pure agility, which was evidenced by how quickly the Beast slowed. His head nearly bumped into his legendary mount's crown-crystal. "Whee! What a ride!" the excited Gym Leader cried, lost in his own bliss despite technically being in the middle of battle.

With morale low from dual attacks from the legendary Suicune and the mythical Silvally, the highly outmatched grunts, fearing for their lives, retreated westward. The rest of the drop was smooth sailing, their destination League base nearby appreciating the restock of food, medicine, and other supplies. The noncombatants within the base helped unload the cargo from Josh's Pokémon, which he was quick to recall afterward. "That was simple enough! When you have the Beast of Winds, who would stand in your way!" His smile turned into a grin as he scooted forward on Suicune to make room for Kyle behind him. "I think a victory lap around the waters of Dewford is in order! What about you?" Provided Kyle and Suicune agreed, he would stop next to the Top Champion and let him hop on, the north wind blowing toward them.

The Beast Rider didn't get to show Kyle his stuff, but this was the next best thing. He was going to race the Top Champion using one of the fastest Pokémon in the world! There was no way he was going to turn that down. "How about long ways around the island's south side? From the cove we used to ambush the Rockets to the lighthouse on the west side," the excited trainer suggested, getting used to Suicune's gallop afterward. For now, it seemed Suicune was far easier to hold onto, the water-type's narrow body letting Josh hold on more easily.

Provided the start and end points were agreeable, Josh would guide Suicune to their agreed-upon point. That was when Kyle revealed his intentions. "There's nothing like it," he smiled. "You won't be disappointed, I promise." If there was a Z-Move involved, Josh would almost assuredly lose the race, as he had known that a Z-Move was the one weapon he had for chasing a Beast of his own. This would be the first time he would be able to get a direct comparison of the two.

Once the duo had counted down, the wind shifted harshly out of the west. Beast and rider zoomed away from tbe beach and onto the water. Suicune's gallop was nowhere near as harsh as Raikou's. It was graceful, made use of her wind manipulation powers, and was still incredibly fast. The Master of Faster leaned low into Suicune's purple mane, watching the speedometer in the corner of his suit's Vision with anticipation of what it would top out at.

Josh found the speed of the Beast of the North Wind to be... surprisingly controllable. The rush off the line was the most intense part, Josh letting out a loud, half-pained cry from Suicune's equally explosive acceleration. Once Beast and rider had reached their top sustained speed, it wasn't too bad. Glancing at his Vision's speedometer, Raikiri could outrun Suicune at sustained speeds. The race remained close for a while.

Then, the sonic boom of the Z-MOVE: HYPERSONIC PLASMA CHARGE came, the shockwave causing even Suicune to momentarily stumble as Kyle and his Manectric mount disappeared from sight. Josh wanted to slam his heels into the Beast's sides, but elected not to; though this Suicune was merely a familiar, the legendary Pokémon was just as fast as the real one that perished in the Kanto War. He wasn't going to give the race anything less than his all. He leaned to his right, guiding the Beast over the sea, hurricane-force winds churning behind the water-type whose paws never breached the surface. The Johto legendary was running on the water's surface as though it were solid ground. "EXTREME SPEED, Suicune!" Josh commanded, bracing himself for an equally rough gallop he vividly recalled having to endure when holding Raikou's thundercloud reins.

The Beast of Winds sounded like a chugging freight train as the Master of Faster rapidly caught up to Kyle and his Manectric. The hurricane-speed winds behind Suicune quickly turned to that of a tornado, propelling Josh to speeds that intoxicated him on his own adrenaline. The effort was futile, though; by the time the electric-type was in sight, Kyle had already won the race. Glancing up at the race timer in the upper right corner of his Vision, only a little over a minute had passed. A little over a minute to cover the entire width of Dewford. It gave Josh the confirmation he needed.

Not even a Beast in Extreme Speed could outpace the Z-Move Josh discovered.

That wasn't to say Suicune's EXTREME SPEED wasn't challenging to control; it was simply far less overwhelming than Raikou's. Not only was Raikou's a lot faster, but Suicune's method of using it was unique. Yes, the water-type's legs became a blur like any other Pokémon using the move, but the gallop didn't feel like an earthquake due to the source of the move being primarily the wind. Consequently, with that kind of wind at his back, the effective wind speed he had to deal with remained almost constant, regardless of how fast he pushed Suicune.

With Kyle finishing the race well ahead of him, Josh decided to instead wheel Suicune over Granite Bay and see what the Beast was capable of. "Alright, Suicune! All yours!" Having had his fill of controlling Suicune himself, he relinquished control back to the Beast.

With Josh now a passenger instead of a driver, Suicune started to show off their real talents. Josh's stomach leaped upward as a thick mist sprayed away from the Beast's paws during a sharp turn over water. The rider let out a loud cry as he felt the veins in his left leg becoming pinched from how much power was behind the turn. Suicune had nowhere close to the raw speed Raikou did, but more than made up for it with amazing cornering. "Yeeeeee-haaaaa!!!" the Gym Leader screamed after a wild U-turn nearly flung him off; it would have, had he not been able to wrap his legs almost all the way around Suicune's lithe back.

With every turn Suicune made, the column of wind behind them shifted to be directly at their backs, no matter how abrupt the turns were. He held on through turn that would have otherwise sent Josh flying overboard if it weren't for a swirling harness of wind keeping him from falling. Yes, Suicune's speed was dangerous for a rider, but the Beast was doing everything they could to make it as safe as possible.

Sensing Josh was in heaven riding Suicune, the Johto legendary Pokémon took him back across the shallows of north Dewford Island before subjecting him to a straight line EXTREME SPEED sprint that left him on an adrenaline high. Even after stopping near Kyle, Suicune kept the wind harness up to ease their rider out of the rush.

Kyle seemed equally bewildered at riding during the Z-Move Josh discovered. "I would ask you the same with your Beasts! They're so fast!" the Gym Leader exhaled. "Between Raikou's thundercloud and Suicune's lithe body, it's almost like the three were meant to be mounts for humans!" Wishful thinking, but their first meeting gave the impression Entei thought otherwise. "What a ride! Raikou's fastest speed was overwhelming, but Suicune's felt controllable. The way they control the wind is amazing!"

As he caught his breath on the legendary Pokémon, Josh answered Kyle's question. "Here's the thing. I don't do it often. It's hard to practice riding during a Z-Move because you only get one shot at it a day, per Pokémon with the move." He noticed the electric-type sprawled on the beach. "It really pushes you and your Pokémon to your limits. I had no idea your Pokémon could Mega Evolve and use a Z-Move at the same time, though! No wonder you're Hoenn's Top Champion. If you want some practice, we should do this together on 111 some weekend!" If he had read the report about Eris, Kyle would know why he couldn't do it at his Gym.

Josh was about to hop off Suicune when he thought of something else important to him. "Would you mind snapping a picture of me on Suicune, to remember this day by?" Once Kyle was done taking the photo or he was told Suicune wasn't willing, the young man would slide off the Beast's back after they dispersed the wind harness. "Good luck out there. I get the feeling this is going to be a day we won't forget anytime soon."
