That was one less Rock-type for Shin to have to handle! Shin nodded, raising his claws once more for a point-blank two-pawed Slash to properly take out his foe and rival. This Magmar was his new rival, he'd just decided that.

Cardamom winced, raising a hand as dust and smoke flew everywhere. As the smoke and flames cleared, though, it became clear that while singed, Shin was not yet down. In fact, he was clinging tightly to the Magmar's hand, his own claws digging in just the slightest. Snarling, he used his new position as leverage to lunge at the Magmar's face, claws stretched towards its eyes-and then he angled downwards, landing hard on its bill and delivering a Feint Attack that would hopefully disorient it. For now, he didn't care what those other two were up to. If the Magmar wanted to oppose him so bad, he'd give it all he'd got!

Well, Cardamom was not expecting that, but it seemed like quite the clever strategy, actually. He winced, covering his ears as the roar reverberated through the arena. Shin was sent flying even harder than the rest owing to his small size, though the distance meant that he wasn't as disoriented. Landing on all fours, he glared right back at the Magmar, before glancing over his shoulder.[break][break]
Cardamom nodded. "Alright, now get in close!" he called. Immediately, Shin took off like a tiny ursine rocket, his claws extended to their full sharpness as he prepared to Slash at the Magmar's chest with all the power in his small bear body.

Shin was quite happy to stand back for now and allow the Rhyhorn and Lurantis to pile onto the Magmar, watching with interest at the techniques they utilized. He even let out a few playful claps and cheers to urge them on, in a strangely Charming way directed at the Rhyhorn in particular. Perhaps the rhino Pokemon would notice its physical strength weakening, perhaps not. Either way, Shin was content to continue staying at the edges and letting the other three handle each other. Or perhaps it would be down to two by now...?

Further exploration of that question would have to wait, now that the battle had started. Shin seemed mostly ignored by the rest of the opposition for now, dancing and wobbling a bit over the waves of earth before growling a little at the apparent neglect from his opponents. He was about to go charging in, but Cardamom called out a warning, "Shin! Keep your distance for now!" After all, there was a lot of fire and earth being thrown around there. Nodding, the Teddiursa bent down to grab a rock from the ground, Flinging it at the Magmar whose back was now turned to him.

As a fight seemed ready to break out, Luke slowly looked up. "Ishhh a fight shtarting?" he muttered, trying to stand up. "Heyyyyy! Why don't shome of you-"[break][break]
Cardamom grabbed a Pokeball and sent out Half-Moon, pointing at Luke. "Grab him," he ordered. The Obstagoon looked around at the gathered crowd and the slowly escalating atmosphere, and immediately grabbed the elder Bliss sibling and threw him over her shoulder. Even as Luke whined about the unfairness, she slowly carried him out of the bar, Cardamom following behind after getting the last of the snacks he'd bought wrapped to go.[break][break]
"Alright, no more bar nights for you," he muttered as he deleted the original text to their parents, writing a new one about how they'd be coming back to the hotel room soon. "Or at least nothing that involves drinking competitions." Ah well. At least the snacks had been good.

[attr="class","woo3"]Luke let out a gulp as the Dragalge fired that Sludge Bomb, but Cardamom was quick to cry out a command to Ping. "Ping!" she yelled. "Intercept that!" The cry seemed to shake Luke out of his own shock, and he quickly cried out a corresponding command to Nash.[break][break]
"Quick Attack!" he called. The Absol seemed to blur for a moment as he dove forwards, avoiding the falling ball of sludge even as Ping rushed forwards to take the brunt of it, the poison splattering harmlessly over their steely exterior. However, that heroic interception left them wide open to the next Mystical Fire attack, causing them to beep in loud distress. Meanwhile, Nash tried to take advantage of his own momentum and charged right at the Dragalge, intent on striking at it.

Apparently, Shin hadn't considered that his actions might have this sort of consequence. As the Dark-type energy raced towards the running bear, he turned as well, one claw gripping his baton tightly, the other raised to deliver his own Slash that cut through most of the shadowy energy that was directly aimed at him. Some of it still sliced past, mussing up his fur, but he huffed and chose to keep running towards the impatient-looking Biff instead of furthering this grudge-for now.[break][break]
The Paras' claw was outstretched as far as it could go, and the instant the baton touched down his claw clamped down around it and he started scuttling as fast as he could. With no techniques that could make him go faster, his best bet was to simply try to get as big a lead as he could.[break][break]
Cardamom started a bit at the question. "Oh..." he said, "it's actually been pretty fun! My family just came here to set up a food stall, but I thought the tournament sounded like a nice way to give my team a bit of a workout."

Shin let out a bearish chuckle, actually slowing down for a moment to spin around and pull down an eyelid at his stumbling opponent, sticking out his tongue playfully before turning around and going back to the race. Cardamom let out an embarrassed groan at seeing that, but at least the bear didn't seem interested in further taunting for now, instead focusing on getting ahead as fast as he could. Biff's mandibles were clacking together as he waited at the second position, one claw already extended in preparation to grab the baton from Shin.

Cardamom watched as the opponent's three Pokemon appeared, taking the offered hand and shaking. "I'm Cardamom!" he said. "I haven't done this kind of challenge before, but your team looks pretty ready for it." They'd barely needed any additional orders, after all.[break][break]
Shin took off after the Thievul, running as fast as he could on his stubby little legs. With the clause against direct attacks, he sighed and put on his cute teddy bear face, batting his eyes in an attempt to Charm his opponent into stumbling.

Despite the large discrepancy in size between him and his two opponents so far, Shin didn't seem cowed by the competition at all, even when the next contestant's Pokeball opened, revealing a Rhyhorn snorting and pawing at the ground. He simply let out a nother growl, crouching as his fur bristled and he prepared to watch the scene and see who to go for first.[break][break]
"Hm?" asked Cardamom. "Oh, well, my family has a food booth set up, and I help out there sometimes. Maybe you saw me while I was working there?" He didn't quite remember if he'd served this guy before, but customers tended to blend together after a while.

Eventually, Luke made it back to Cardamom's table, whining as he laid his head down on the surface. "That bartender was wronnnnnng," he whimpered. "I-I can totally drink more! Look at me Car-carda-dam-little bro! Do I look like someone who's had too much?"[break][break]
Cardamom looked down at his selection of appetizers, then sighed and pushed a slice of bread towards Luke. "Yeah Luke, you do," he muttered. "You went way too fast and I'm glad the bartender cut you off." Muttering, Luke picked up the piece of bread and started slowly nibbling at it. Cardamom sighed, then started finishing off the last of his chips. When Luke reached out for more, he lightly shoved his brother's hand away. "Finish your bread," he said, "or else I'll call our parents to come pick us up." Sighing, Luke went back to nibbling the bread.

Cardamom had also blinked a bit when the camera suddenly swiveled onto him, and the Teddiursa sitting in his lap. Shin let out a little roar, showing off his claws for the camera, before hopping off Cardamom's lap and hurrying down towards the field. Cardamom quickly ran after the scampering little bear, catching up to him just before he was about to hop the fence. He smiled, waving at the rest of the competitors.[break][break]
"Well, I didn't expect my next match to happen like this," he admitted, "but at least Shin's ready for it!" The Teddiursa wriggled out of his trainer's arms even as this was being said, running onto the field and holding up a claw to the sky as if daring everyone else to come at him.
