her lips purse in the faintest frown before fading like wetted petal.

it gestures toward alexei, cane icy in its other hand. [break][break]

should alexei enter, dahlia awaits behind her wooden desk, quickly shuffling papers across the firm oak promontory.[break][break]

dahlia can feel the casing land on the sand just from its sound. how it carves its shape by simple landing. not a lake's ripple by any means, but influence nonetheless.

the assassin has disappeared. blood dapples the earth that they had once stood upon. blood drawn and secured by sigilyph. they would be gone now. gone from this plane— not that they would know until later.

paxton's precisely worded threat is enough of a safeguard against further attack.

the commissioner is quick to comfort her bayleef. strokes her neck and head before recalling her.

"paxton. thank you so much. you saved my life." dahlia grabs the man's arm as if holding onto rails. "let's get out of here. please?"

dahlia tilts her head and laughs. a curl of blonde hair unfurls outward like a loosening violin string, unwilling to admit fully, the veracity of his correction.

as the steam loosens her joints and plucks them apart, she wonders if she's more the stringsound or the unfastening. hoenn feels like the world altogether colliding in on itself.

but there is excitement in challenging the impossible. to spread one's palms out toward the unknown only to pull something from the ether.

"thank you." she says, to cleanse the palate. "fernando, have you ever considered becoming a commissioner?"
