”Obviously,” he scoffed at the question he considered ridiculous. He was then done with his sandwich, with a little help from his furry friend of course. 

     He rested his head on the couch and brushed the fur of his Zorua with his hand. All he wanted was for his hangover to go away so he can yeet himself out from his brother’s house. His brother that he had not seen for such a long time. The brother that left him.

     Meanwhile, he took the advantage of the moment to throw some roasts at his brother. In a way, that was his way of showing revenge for what Lars did, for everything Lars did. 

     ”Why would you want someone else to pick groceries for you when they clearly don’t know what you truly want. Unless of course, you don’t care what you cook.”. He paused momentarily, eyes looking down at his nails. ”But there no cooks that does not care about their ingredients,” he said while throwing an eye and a cheeky grin at Lars.

    Was he reading the room right? Or was he just making things up due to his drunken state? Whatever it was, Claude also grinned ear to ear. The blond leaned closer towards the other, his hand slowly found its way to the man’s arms. 

     ”Do you want to get out of here? I have a bed big enough for us to sleep in,” he added with a cheeky chuckle. His ears and cheeks were flushed, should one look directly in his eyes, they could tell that Claude was really drunk.

    The man raised an eyebrow. He was a bit confused, especially in his drunken state. It was not obvious to him that the other’s name was Victor. What made him more confused was how the man said that it was a lame name, when it wasn’t. 

     ”Psh, it literally means Winner. While mine literally means Lame, it’s Claude.” despite slurring he managed to get the information out. Then a chuckle escaped through his lips, ”Moreover, it can also mean limping or stuttering,”. Chuckles then turned into laughters. 

     Without giving it much thought he downed another glass of alcohol, and that might be the limit for him.

    Claude broke into laughters, again. The man seemed to be able to catch up on how he sees the world. Not many get that and Claude was glad that Vic did. ”You’re probably right,” he grinned before taking another shot of the alcoholic drink.

     ”Briiiaaannnn.” he called for the bartender to fill his glass, and the bartender did. Claude didn’t wait any longer and sent the liquid down his throat. The burning sensation was addictive to him, this could be easily seen by how he asked for more right afterwards. 

     The man grinned even more at the new information. ”If you tell me your real name I’ll tell you mine.”, anyway could tell that his words were beginning to slur a bit.

    His mind was foggy. He didn’t know what he should do, which then gave him a headache shown clearly by the way his hand pressed against his temple. Bill was right nevertheless, he needed a shower, he reeked of sweat and alcohol. ‘Fuck! Since when have I ever cared about any of these,’.

     ”H-help yourself, I’m going to take a shower first.” he then disappeared into his room. He was even more confused when he thought about what he had said, ‘why did I talk like that?’ he asked himself in disbelief. 

     After a fresh shower, he put on some clean and decent clothes before heading back to the living room. He couldn’t believe how fast he was sobering up. Had it been a normal night, he would have passed out and waked up with a really bad hangover. 

     ”Umm, do you need anything to drink?” he asked his father. ‘Fuck! Stop talking so weird!’, he scolded himself. It was as if he had no control over his tongue nor actions at all.

    ”Pfft, what a lame excuse,” he snarked at the long explanation by Lars, before breaking a bit of the sandwich apart and fed it to his Zorua. 

     The question wasn’t hard at all. Though Lars was afraid that his brother could not understand his answer, ”Depends on my mood, if I want eggs, I make eggs, if I want sandwiches, I make sandwiches. Breakfasts aren’t hard Lars.”.

    Claude rolled his eyes at the retort to his quote about book covers. ”Whatever you say,” he sighed. He was not in the mood to discuss about ‘covers’, the other man should consider himself lucky to even be able to talk to him. 

     In truth Claude was worried for the man. He shouldn’t go around and deem people as good, he could easily be taken advantage of. He was too kind. Too kind for Claude. 

     The blond raised an eyebrow at the question. ”Guess,” he said with his own smirk. He knew that would be too cruel for Vic so he made the game a little more interesting, ”Here’s a hint, it’s a lame name.” he said before drinking the newly filled glass of alcohol.

    Claude bursted into light laughters. ”You shouldn’t judge a book by its covers.” he quoted, they had only met for a few minutes and yet the pink-haired lad thought that he was a good man. Claude was having a hard time believing how he could ever be a good person. 

     When Vic asked that, Claude copied him, taking the newly filled glass and held it in the air. Claude looked at the other man for a while, thinking, ”To past nightmares,”. 

     Clink!

     Their glasses clicked together. Then, in one go, the blond emptied his glass. He seethed shortly after, ”That’s a good one, one more!”. The bartender did as requested and filled Claude’s glass with more of the alcoholic beverage. The easiest way to get Claude to talk was to get him drunk, and that was something he did very often.

    It was too obvious that it was a painful subject for the man to talk about. So he would not pry any further. He knew well enough how facing one’s nightmares could be so exhausting and unnecessarily draining. 

     ”You say that but you’re barely touching your drink,” he remarked with an amused smirk, before gulping down the entire content of the glass. ”Brian dear, give us something stronger would you?”.

     The bartender perked an eyebrow, he hadn’t seen that side of Claude before. He went straight away to fetch a bottle of alcohol, before uncorking it and pouring it into two new glasses for the two men. ”Drink up, it’s on me,” he winked at his new company for the night.
