Bonbon's bounding steps lead off the path more often than not, which Luka normally wouldn't mind. But she doesn't have the energy for a wild excursion today. It won't, of course. She's fairly sure they both know that; that sweetened words and a simple dance will never be enough to undo what happened between them. But even so, being able to hold him again, even if only for a moment, takes a bit of the edge off.[break][break]

There's something compelling about the music, the peace of the insecterium, the feeling of entwined fingers and his hand on her waist. It brings back memories of when they'd first met, and Luka understands why she'd been so enchanted by him in the first place. Even now, his dark eyes continue to draw her in, and she finds herself stepping closer as they begin to dance.[break][break]

She's always liked to waltz, because it always makes sense. One two three, one two three. A gliding step. A twirl. It allows her time to think as they spin together underneath the moonlight, to choose her words as carefully as magic spells.[break][break]

"I'm surprised you— someone like you— is alone tonight," she muses. Shameful perusing of the tabloids has informed him that the Prince hasn't ceased in his dalliances. It's a petty thing to bring up, but at least she can mask it as simple curiosity for now. "Don't you ever feel lonely?"

It warms her heart to know that the Commissioner appreciates acts of kindness like this. They might not save the world, but it's the little things that still matter the most.

Luka's happy that this virtual Dahlia, even with the weight of the world on her shoulders, hasn't forgotten that.

She doesn't know anything about the images presented, but her choice isn't entirely random. The last one is the cutest, so naturally that's what she chooses.

Valentine's is her favorite holiday— it's a celebration of love, the most important thing in the world. But all she's felt towards it this year is lethargy. The same feeling extends, in a way, to all other aspects of her life. The Commissioner sure looks good...

She's not going to be put on any kind of list for taking a screenshot, right? There's no way the Commissioner would know. So like, yeah. Just gonna save this one for later.

She's so busy staring at the Commissioner and the other very attractive members of the council (seriously, is being good-looking some kind of prerequisite for the League?) that she almost ignores the scrolling text. Thankfully, she gets the gist of it by the time she looks back.

There's really only one correct choice, right? May her good morality make up for the sin of thinking about the Commissioner lasciviously.

If faced with a situation like this, Luka would undoubtedly choose the last option.

She's impulsive like that— hopelessly reckless when it comes to the wellbeing of others. But with time to make a decision and with the knowledge of otomes that she's accrued over years of playing, she can spot a death flag when one appears.

Now that's more like it![break][break]

Even though they hadn't been shaken before, the positive reception for this round has Luka and Taffy's spirits soaring. Fully invigorated, and with confidence completely restored, they approach the final round with their hearts burning and heads held high.[break][break]

Of course, this means that they have to continue to up their game for the last appeal! With a deep breath and a little nod towards her partner, Luka steps back onstage and prepares to wow the crowd once again.[break][break]

"You've seem all forms of toughness tonight," Luka begins, while Taffy stomps his little feet towards the center of the stage. "I think it's clear now that strength doesn't just come from raw power!" As she speaks, Taffy turns away from the crowd and begins to focus, her eyes shut tight as a rumbling begins behind the stage.[break][break]

"True strength," Luka continues, even as the floor of the stage begins to quake dangerously, "Comes from using your power in every form! The courage to face obstacles head on, the humility to allow yourself to be vulnerable, and most importantly, the compassion to use your strength for good. The toughness of my bond with Taffy is greater than any force out there, and we'll prove that tonight!"[break][break]

With this final declaration, Luka steps back and glances up at the ceiling, very careful to hit a specific mark on the stage.[break][break]

Suddenly, rock and ice crashes down onto the stage in a dangerous barrage, but Taffy leaps in front of her partner boldly, using her tiny body to protect Luka from the onslaught. However, the barrier that she erects is shrouded from the audience by all the falling debris, and the audience gasps as it appears that the pair have been buried under this avalanche.[break][break]

But just as suddenly, rock and ice is blasted away around the team and disintegrates into dust. Chunks of ice are reduced to naught but glittering snowflakes that float gently over the crowd. And there, at center stage, stands Luka— completely unharmed, while Taffy stands tall and proud (or at least, as tall as she can!) as her protector.[break][break]

"It's the strength in our bonds with each other that are the most enduring, and the toughest form of love that there is," Luka says with a grin. "Thank you Hoenn, and goodnight!"[break][break]

Tales of Galarian legendaries are vaguely familiar to her, thanks in no small part to Remiel Calcifet. He had definitely mentioned something like that at one point…but like, ugh! She really doesn’t want to think about that man right now.

The commissioner is way better looking anyways.

And as much as Luka thinks she’d look like an angel dressed in white, she has a feeling the real commissioner would appreciate something practical instead:
